  1. What days are you available for some field guidance?
  2. Congrats on 4000, H-C! Looks like you all had a super day.
  3. Why yes... yes it is. United States Australian Shepherd Association Congrats everyone on your milestones!
  4. They gave me a CD with the images. I'm supposed to give it to my obstetrician when I make an appointment. Is there something you haven't told us? ROTFLMAO! Yikes TL, no wonder it was so painful. Glad you're on the road to recovery.
  5. TL, that ankle was crunching and popping inside. It's great that there is no discoloration, but you still need to get it looked at. Thanks for scheduling this hike - really enjoyed it!
  6. Just spotted another local cache on the banner - It's brewermd's photo from Totem Lake's Watson, Watson, my Bacon! http://www.geocaching.com/Gallery/banner.a...=2&BID=3951
  7. She is BEAUTIFUL! (and she'll look great in pink ribbons)
  8. Plaidguy and I may join in on this one. Looks like a fun hike.
  9. I've thought about ways to secure a box shut with a lock of some kind. For instance, there are kits to adapt a standard ammo can for a padlock. However, I've been concerned about the etiquette in doing this. It seems like land managers might frown on boxes they can't readily inspect (without the necessary info). Similarly, it seems like locked boxes might lead to more "it's a bomb!" scares (seems silly to me, but who knows). Thoughts? That's where the big in-your-face official geocache sticker is an important accessory. I wouldn't advise putting a lock on a box unless it ties in with a theme of some sort or is a cache particularly vulnerable to muggling. Plaidguy has devised a simple watertight way to padlock an ammo box that has stood up well in the field for years. Email him if you want to know how to do it.
  10. I have one very popular cache (over 750 finds, plus more that re-visit for TBs) that had no problems for several years. Then it began getting stolen periodically. In frustration I bike locked it to a tree like you did, but I went an extra step. In addition to running the cable through the handle of the lid, I ran a second bike lock cable through the handle on the bottom of the box by the latch. No problems since. The contents are still vulnerable, but so far thieves have been only interested in the box so I have not taken the extra step of locking the box shut. Hopefully I won't have to. That might be a solution you can try for the OSTP. To make the container easy to open, I ran the cable for the bottom of the box through the looped cable that was attached to the top, rather than running them both around the tree.
  11. Conspiracy debunked. It's genuine plaid.
  12. When Plaidguy showed up at work today, everyone in his department was dressed like him for Halloween, including his GPS! Some of them even printed images of goatee beards with their computers and put those on. For those who don't know him, he always wears a plaid shirt - hence the name Plaidguy. Half of those folks are wearing phony glasses too.
  13. Congratulations to Robinego for reaching #2000 at Nook Falls!
  14. One of my most exciting caching critter sightings:
  15. Psst! Snapware isn't Lock and Lock! True, they're wannabe lock-n-locks but it's still a good deal.
  16. Heads up, bargain hunters... Costco's 32-pc set of Snapware is featured in their new coupon book (the one valid from Oct 9 -26). It was already a good deal and the coupon gets you an additional $5 off.
  17. Better clarify that Allanon means missing from the bookmark, not that the containers are missing out in the field. I've been referring to Berta, Nick, & Zoey's bookmark since he is the one who created the entire route. Evil ©ammo 6 is on there, but it looks like he overlooked including The Bear Is Curvy in his bookmark. Probably because it was just published.
  18. Contrary to the KCM's approvers idea of what a Cache Machine is all about it is all about the numbers. So the faster you get the log signed the bigger your numbers are at the end of the day. The group I Cache Machine with can sometimes get pretty big so instead of standing around waiting for 10 people to sign the log, we have a Cache Menagerie sticker that we use for the whole group. Slap a sticker on the log and you're outathere. But if you're not in in for the numbers you can stand aroud waiting for each person in your group to sign the log or wait for them to dig their stamp out of their bag of stuff but of course they don't start this process until they have the actual log book in their hand, then after stamping the log wait for them to decide which one of their 10 pens or pencils they want to use to date the log. This exemplifies one of the reasons I haven't ever done a cache machine and doubt that I will. I actually feel a little strange when I find a cache with someone other than a Team Wrastro member. I have done it a few times, including a great day on the Iron Horse with LR and Nick, but it just isn't my cup of tea. Hope everyone has a great time and the weather cooperates. Don't let that hold you back Wrastro. Everyone has their own cache machine style. Some team up, some go solo, some go as fast as they can, some go at a leisurely pace and only do part of it. Do it your way and you'll have a good time.
  19. I dunno, we never found it. Heather Lake is only a couple of miles from the highway and gets a lot of visitors, so it seems logical that if they're going to provide a loo, it would have some privacy. Maybe somebody who has been there during the summer can tell us. No, wait - I was there in summer!
  20. We never could find the bathroom at Heather Lake in July. I think the entire building was still buried under the snow!
  21. Yikes, I hope she wasn't wearing a corset when she did the climb!
