  1. Hey guys, I am also an Alpharetta Geocacher. I also started the same way without a GPS. I logged on to www.geocaching.com, found some local caches, looked at Google maps and went for it. Most important thing..... HAVE FUN. take care ELODGE
  2. The Garmin Oregon series can do it all. You will have to purchase the "City Navigator North America NT" map that comes in the form of a DVD or a micro SD card. This will give you the same functionallity of a Nuvi series auto GPS. touch screen, turn by turn directions (although it doesnt talk to you ) and it has a much higher sensitive GPS receiver so you wont lose your sinal as easily. You can find brand new Garmin Orgegon 300 on ebay for about $400 and then just add the map program for $100 through Garmin (I am sure you can find that cheaper elsewhere too) and you will have everything you could ever want or need in a GPS for under $500. Your not going to find many choices for less than that.
  3. The ONLY difference between the Oregon 300 and 400T is the 400T comes with the Topo map program preloaded hence the "T" in 400T the 400i has the inland lakes map and the 400C has the coastal region maps preloaded. If you notice there is a $100 difference between the 300 and 400 that is due to the $100 map software. Save yourself the money and just get the 300. I bought mine off ebay brand new from a seller that had over 24,000 sales and had 100% positive feedback. The 300 was $398 and that included free shipping.
