There are two norths. One is true north, it points to the North Pole. The second is magnetic north, it is where the north needle of a compass will point. Magnetic north varies depending on where you are on the Earth. Where I am, magnetic north is about 19° east of true north. So if you want to go 260° magnetic, set the compass N needle on 0° and walk where the 260° mark points. Hope that makes sense.
