How to put the $79 Garmin map on my 450?
Cache on the spot replied to Cache on the spot's topic in GPS technology and devices
I don't know about a "wizard," but the MapInstall program is here: http://www8.garmin.com/macosx/index.jsp I did the mapinstall. Then spent the past 2 1/2 hours checking all the Garmin help files and still cannot select potions of the map in Basecamp to transfer to my 450. I'm too frustrated to continue for tonight. Thanks to all who took the time to help me. Cache on the spot -

I checked and the communicator plug-in is installed & working correctly. However, I can't find the All Data folder in Basecamp on my MAC which is very frustrating. I have to leave for a few hours, I hope someone gives me more things to try when I get back here. Cache on the spot -
How to put the $79 Garmin map on my 450?

Where do I find the MapInstall wizard? I cannot find it in Garmin base camp on my MAC. No, I didn't select parts of the map. I did do it just now but all it selects are the caches in that part of the map. Nothing turns pink. I appreciate all of you who have responded & are trying to help me. Cache on the spot -

The procedure would depend on the version of BaseCamp you are running. The current version of BaseCamp for Mac v3.2.2 works a bit different than BaseCamp Mac Legacy Version for Tiger and PPC software version 2.1.2 So you're going to have to help those that can help you by providing the relevant information needed to help you out, or you're going to have to rely on the HELP file from within the program. I have BaseCamp for Mac v3.2.2. I've tried: transfer/send Oregon450 to device/Garmin custom maps & imagery & send maps with Mapinstall when done. That gives me an error message-"Nothing to send,no data of selected type was found". Clicking on Maps installed shows "City Navigator North America NT 2012.2" and that map is what you see in BaseCamp but not on my 450. -

I can't see the All Data folder of my device in BaseCamp. Also I don't see anything on my 450 screen when it's plugged in to the Mac except the Garmin name and the picture of the GPS plugged into a computer. I don't know if this is relevant but I can't turn on the 450 when it's plugged into the MAC. I am lost! Cache on the spot -
Updating Oregon 450 software
Cache on the spot replied to Cache on the spot's topic in GPS technology and devices
Plug into PC. Turn on. Observe that you now have a new external drive. Navigate to that with Finder and you'll find the folders. Think of it as a thumb drive. Got it done! Many thanks for your help. Cache on the spot -
I’m trying to update the software on my Oregon 450 from version 4.52 to version 5.10 using Garmin's BaseCamp for Mac and Webupdater for Mac version 2.0.6. Instructions say to transfer all tracks, routes & waypoints to Basecamp which I’ve done. Then it says to delete the /Garmin /GPX folder from the handheld’s mass storage. My question is how do I get to the mass storage on my 450 in order to do that? I appreciate any help with this. Cache on the spot

Help! I Can't Log In To Geocaching.com
Cache on the spot replied to Cache on the spot's topic in General geocaching topics
I am on Windows XP. I went to internet options…privacy…edit web sites…typed in the Geocaching.com web site…clicked on allow…then on OK. Log in went fine after that. I had changed some of my security settings yesterday so I hope that was the problem. Thanks to Team AlphaOmega and Keystone for your help. Cache on the spot -
Help! I Can't Log In To Geocaching.com

Never had a log in problem before. I tried 7 times just now. Any solutions? Thanks, Cache on the spot -
For one thing it's no big deal that it isn't counted as a find...I was just wondering why. My daughter and I had fun finding it and that's most important to me. The Cosmonauts-Lar & Cin put out some real nice caches. This one is especially nice because of the awesome memorial. By the way, we went there just after the snow melted and the top few inches of ground was thawed out, hence the mud. Cache on the spot

Thanks Thot, that is the best beginners info I've ever seen. Jeremy should hire you to rewrite their introductions to newcomers. Your free software looks great also. I'm downloading it right now. Cache on the spot

Wow! You guys are great! The Drive Time Maps are awesome! I have S&T 2003 and not in a million years would I have figured out by myself how to it. I would have given up trying after about a half an hour. Costco still has S&T for $15.95 after the rebate which is what I paid. Thanks Pat Cache on the spot
