  1. Got a reply, and the answer from TrainLove by direct PM He was right on target. His insight was valuable in solving my problem. He informed me that he could had to contact me that way b/c he was not allowed to post here. I think that is a mistake to not allow him to help solve others problems... I can't begin to express my appreciation to TrainLove for making my life so much less cluttered by useless cache info at all hours of the night and day. EMT
  2. it says remove from watchlist and then when i follow the link it says information about watch list but no option to remove the cache. when i go to my watchlist, its not there, yet i am still getting the emails concerning them. EMT
  3. Please help I took a trip to Oklahoma and as such put some caches on my watchlist. I have since deleted them but I keep getting emails concerning them. Every time they are found DNF notes all of it. And these are popular caches. I get alot of emails about them. So is there maybe another place I accidently made a request for this info besides the watchlist? I have taken the following steps: I deleted them from my watchlist I put them on the ignore list I put them back on the watchlist and deleted them again Now what? Thanks EMT
  4. I guess this is a good a place as any to jump in. I have the opposite of the original problem... I still get email notifications about everything involving a cache that has been deleted from my watchlist. I tried putting the cache on the ignore list and putting it back on the watchlist so I could remove it again.. No dice. Help But I would be more upset by the original issue... I use yahoo if that matters EMT Thanks
  5. Found a black widow spider at a cache location. She was guarding the thing. Knowing that kids participate and we sure didn't want anyone else to encounter her....we sent her to spider heaven or whereever they go. This thread is disturbing. We also found a crack pipe and other drug use items. We went to a cache located in an old fruit stand off the freeway hidden in the overgrown woods....we looked inside and something was looking back...we haul A** out of there. Got home and read the logs about a giant attack bird thing that would come out and chase cachers...well thankful that didn't happen cause if it had....then you would have found human waste at that cache site. 6. What the heck is a whatnot?? What? Not familiar with that term? EMT
  7. Do to the cache being a puzzle cache there is nothing showing on the GC.com website at the location. The "spotted cacher" has been caching for awhile and was with another well known cacher both of whom I am sure were practicing stealth to the fullest . It is not like it was a noob cacher that was hell bent on a find. My geobuddy flip floppers made a good point as well. This happened on the same day that the president was sworn in I know that security was on full alert. Suspicious person...Suspicious package... Very bad timing=Boom. What ever the reason being a first responder I understand the concern and feel that some form of cacher and copper alliance be brought forth before things get blown out of propotion ...(sorry couldn't resist). Another thought I had...If the cops believe that it is a cache but are unsure then just republish it with a new listing and wait for the FTF hunters to open it for ya-This is said in jest I do not want anyone to get injured...like myself from flames or shrapnel I have shed blood for this game. I am a geocacher. Keep on caching. EMT
  8. This is not the first time nor do I think it will be the last that Conway, Arkansas detonates a poor helpless ammo can... Geocaching Game Triggers Bomb Squad Tuesday the Conway City Bomb Squad detonated a suspicious package on Tilk Road in Conway only to find out it was just a geocache box full of toys and because of that, the popular hobby is starting to raise some red flags for authorities. Geocaching is a hide and seek treasure hunt for the 21st Century. You download cache coordinates onto your GPS and set out to find a box filled with items. Geocache boxes are often old ammunition cases because they can withstand any weather condition, but Conway officials are asking you to change the rules to stop false alarms. Todd Cardin with the Conway Bomb Squad says this box is what triggered a bomb scare Tuesday. "A gentleman witnessed a lady leaning over a concrete rail at the South East corner of the airport and it looked suspicious what she was doing and he went over there when they left and he saw this ammo can," Cardin explains. He says this is the third geocache box they've responded to and even though some are labeled they still have to follow protocol. Cardin says, "When we get the call we treat it as a bomb until its proven and we don't know otherwise until we've disposed of the package." The bomb squad uses its remote-controlled robotic vehicle to make initial contact and that means valuable time and tax payer dollars. "So you're looking at probably six or eight fire department personal, two three four police men and than a squad from MEMS and it typically takes about an hour to handle a scene like this," Cardin adds. There are currently more than 700 geocaches in the Conway area alone. Cardin says they don't want to ban the game they just want to keep it safe for everyone and ask that you use a clear container and label it "geocache." "We need to know that as a bomb squad what's in that package and we won't mess with it. If it's a clear package that would be great," Cardin asks. The last two geocache boxes belong to the same Conway man. He isn't being charged, but he is taking responsibility for notifying all geocache members to use plastic containers. Geocaching has been banned in some parts of the U.S., but there are still more than 800,000 active caches worldwide. http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story....904&catid=2 I think we should have a contest to see who can create a clear ammo box...All hail the lock-n-locks. 9. Downloading this takes me to a blank screen that asks if I want to use active control X I say yes and nothing happens. How do I add this to cache magnet? EMT I figured it out and for those that are like me and are easily frustrated here is how I did it. I went to the fix and downloaded it to the desktop. I went to the start button clicked on it and then went to my computer I went to the C drive clicked on it and opened program files found cache magnet opened that folder and copy and pasted the new Virtual Earth from my desktop to the folder:which said do u want to replace and I click yes... And now it works! EMT
  10. Yes today of all days when I am about to go to an event in the morning and need to load new logs into my Ipod..cache magnet says scripts error on the page and then a VE some error. I uninstalled and reinstalled no change. Thought is was just me. Guess not...man that sucks. Any other programs that work like that? EMT
  11. Got my much awaited Flip Flop coin...yea. It has some minor damage thou...boo. But still a new coin. Yea EMT
  12. Good grief this topic evokes way too much emotion for me... MIA from cache TBs: I too look at the logs as well as try and back track the potential newbie who has taken the TB from it. Some call me the cache police-i don't care. I have met and assisted wonderful people on their TB adventures - we are were newbies at one time. Nothing bothers my geobuddy more then when she is headed for a cache with a TB listed and it is not there. I also have some instances of finding TBs in a cache that are not listed. I contacted the last to have the TB but had already grabbed the TB from the cache so they could not log their miles with it...oops Now more weird circumstances: I found a cute lil toy eyore in a cache with no tag-a few months later I run across another cache that has the same critter listed as a TB in it. The cache hasn't been found for awhile so I am wondering if this lil guy is the TB. I will hold on to him and take him away from my cat until I get out to that cache and see. Yesterday we hiked to a difficult cache only to find just a TB tag. It was 100 degrees we were deep in the woods and the sun was setting so we took 3 potential toys that the tag could belong to and yes we will put them in other caches. When I got home I emailed the owner and found out it was supposed to only be a tag. Being that they are new I replied and asked it they would like to add a tag on it with that info so that another cacher is not left looking for the missing TB companion. So I think that TB mission statements are an excellent idea. And I appreciate all the assistance that I am provided even if sometimes it is not needed. EMT
  13. Grr still not working...suppestions? EMT
  14. Hi like all the rest I am new and feeling mistreated by my new toy. I don't like it when a machine is smarter then me. I have been on here for a few weeks and finally got my Vista HCx in today. I got on geocaching.com and loaded the plug in and then sent one cache to my GPS just fine but now all the others times is says plug in not detected... Corrections tried: Reinstalling plug in Unplugging and replugging GPS. Turning off all forms of equipment...GPS computer...etc. 4 letter words... Nothing works. Downloaded EasyGPS and that works with the the LOC files.... What is the deal? Thanks EMT
