  1. (Keep in mind that I'm a n00b) My guess is that since finders (most times) have to know the cache is there to begin with you've already cut down on a significant portion of the population who would be likely to do anything 'bad' with it. And in the rare instance someone did (illegal, mind you), you work with whatever law enforcement personnel to ensure they get what they have coming to them... Just my humble opinion as a n00b --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  2. quote:I once caught 4 (that's FOUR) deer hunters in my backyard, about 50 yds from my clothes line and my kids sandbox. That made me a bit... grumpy... about hunters. AS someone who used to hunt, but has not in a while, let me just say "I'm sorry" on behalf of responsible hunters. There are goood ones out there, believe it or not, and most of them share your views on wildlife management. It's nice to sit back and say 'let them be', but when they die a slow death of starvation due to overpopulation, it isn't so cute then. Bear Burgers... sounds a bit chewy, but I'll try em! --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  3. Man, that is awesome. I hope she realizes how many people were looking out for her! --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  4. quote:How has this effected your caching? quote:We don't have deer, we have giant rats with hooves and antlers.... ....Heck, there have to be 50 deer seasons. Doe season, muzzler loader, shotgun, bow season, you name it. Well, BrianSnat has to wear bright orange all the time... BrianSnat: Thanks, I knew there was a problem, but the proximity certainly does make hunting problematic - hitting a house or kids playing in the yard is a huge no-no. Although... I'm sure hankering fer some venison jerky right about now... --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  5. Thanks! D/Ling now... --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  6. quote:Nobody said these people are smart. I live here. There are way too many bear for the available habitat...this is New Jersey for heavens sake, not Montana. They're in my garbage regularly and walk right down my street in broad daylight, past playing kids. It's not a healthy situation for the kids, or the bear. Reason enough to collect bear hides, IMO. Also, to the Chef: A don't know what a Capon, is, but is it like 'Mountain Oysters'? I say the bears could pay for their own, um, reduction by selling off their hides and oysters... Oh yeah, sterilize the animal rights guy while yer at it. Doesn't NJ have a massive deer population problem due to the anti-hunting laws there? --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  7. quote:Nah spike we may bicker alot but we all enjoy the same thing, getting outside and visiting new places we otherwise would never visit. I can be pretty tactless at times and I'm sure it will happen again, but I respect almost everyone here and welcome anyone new to the hunt. So take all my posts with a grain or 2 of salt and I welcome you to the community.Quick edit , my name is Gruffy for a reason lol. quote:Just the opposite. This group loves what we do and we feel very strongly about it. You have joined at a time when there are many heated debates going on. If you need help, or just a welcome to the game, you will get more responses than you know what to do with. This is a great group of people. Don't let the recent topics and heated discussions be the standard by which you measure all geocachers As a n00b, I have to agree - The bickering I see seems more like passion... --------------------- Don't hurt me. 8. There is a small plant called that has little berries on it. We call them Teaberries, and they are delicious - but they only have one per plant (or so), so you have to savor each one. Clark's makes a Teaberry chewing gum, and it is pretty good, if you can find it. You'll have to do a google search or something to identify the plant. It has bneen a long time since I have seen one, and I have forgotten the proper identification... --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  9. Well, I can finally get back onto the forums so... I found it! *whew* It was easy, once I saw it, but man, my eyes are still popped out of my head from looking... It was a great, little cache, and there was a lot of good stuff in it. See GCG6MR for the cache site. This place is a great visit, by the way. Bring a camera is you go... --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  10. I thought you said you didn't have any caches ju66l3r... --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  11. OK, I checekd your FAQ, but I'm a n00b, as my name implies... Does Quakemap export data to the GPS? If so, what data, and how is it different from using MapSend (or whatever Garmin uses)? Thanks; <===That guy --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  12. My only gripe about it is it's only 2mp, but for the size, wow! Of course the one *I* want only costs $4-5000. *sigh* --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  13. Thanks for the tip, BrianSnat, that is a good point. Enfanta, what happened to the pankcake?!?! Jr Viper Team - that is a good idea too. In the future I'll have to do that to my DNF's. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  14. Heh, I just looked at the cache in question again and someone else came after me and found it. So now I'm on a mission. I *will* find that cache, or it'll kill me. Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the feedback. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  15. Just noticed an interesting forum issue. I was looking for Jeremy's pirate thread and it was gone, so I figured it had been deleted. But now I can see it again. I've noticed this on a few other threads, but I can't tell if it is becuase they actually HAVE been deleted or what... Perhaps you must be logged in to see certain threads? Dunno, just a heads up, FWIW. (BTW, Win2k, MS IE 6.0.2800.1106) --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  16. A friend of mine had a pit bull that he loved like a baby. It attacked and nearly killed his other dog. those dogs loved each other the day before, but then one day it was all over. And as far as that owner ALLOWING his PB to get that close to another person, especially a KID? (This goes for ANY breed). If I were M15a4spr, they'd be burying the owner WITH the dog. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  17. My prayers are in their too. I hope she is found safe and can work out whatever problems she has had in the past or will have due to this situation. If I weren't in New England, I'd be walking the trail with ya. Good luck to you and your family. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  18. In those instances where you do not find a cache, is it alright to email the owner, in addition to leaving a log? I did this today and I'm wondering if it was the right thing to do. My email described what I had done (where I had looked), and I didn't want to put that in a publicly-viewable log. Thanks for the guidance... <===That Guy --------------------- Don't hurt me. 19. Hmmm, howzat? --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  20. Fer crying out loud, one thread in a SOFTWARE forum is spamming? Actually, no, now that I think about it, this looks more like the work of a professional troll. If I had a handheld, I would love to beta test your software - I don't though. Just ingnore the doofs and keep talking about your software. BTW, it seems they are implying QuakeMap & MapAdvisor and being created by the same group. For the sake of shutting them up (not likely) could you clarify this? Thanks, and good luck. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  21. Do you think it is appropriate (or at least a good idea) to post your accuracy indicated at the time of the reading? --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  22. FWIW, BrianSnat, in the 'other' forum they are calling you a conspirator with Jeremy to ultimately lock out GC.com from the public. Funny stuff, if it weren't for the fact they are thieves (see Snoogles(sp?) post on p.7 of Jeremy's thread). I'll likely never be down there to check out your caches, but thanks for doing it anyway. As to the initial topic: I was open-minded until I read that one of the official pirates decided to 'eliminate' all the TB he had collected. He went from a gamer to a true thief, yet I didn't see anything being done by the "Cap'ns" to recover the lost goods. They seem to be able to provide real name, numbers & addresses for people who email them, yet they don't seem to be doing this for 'one of their own'. That settled the matter for me. What could have been a good interesting twist (PROPERLY executed) has gone into the crapper by the very people who advocated that twist. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  23. Good job, Jeremy. Out the f'tards. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  24. Voted yes, for whatever it may be worth. The poor sap below me "Took Nothing, Left GPS" by accident, then forgot which cache it was at. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
  25. Chiggers sound bad, but Scabies is FAR worse, in my opinion. If you go GC'ing in Central or South America, watch yourself... *shudder* http://www.aad.org/pamphlets/Scabies.html While I've not heard of it in the New England area, some friends traveled to Central America (somewhere below Mexico, unsure of which nation though) and got it. Very nasty. --------------------- Don't hurt me. I'm new here.
