  1. Allanorn & Nighthunter- I'm up for a walk on Monday. Let me know if you come up with alternate plans/route and I'll try to join you. How early were you thinking of getting started? Seeing as Cajon Mtn. is closed, we'll have to go somewhere else. Suggestions?
  2. I would love to go, I am even considering taking the day off of work to go. We may have to replace a cache or two, the area looks pretty burned up from down here. I think the park opens at 8am. ...However... According to The San Diego County Parks page, El Capitan Reserve is still closed. Do you know something different? Is the webpage wanting updating? Night Hunter Crap. Obviously didn't check there and since they last updated it this week, I have a feeling that El Capitan will be closed for a while. Mission Trails won't open until March or April, so I figure it'll be that long before anywhere else opens up. Which brings me to my next thought: anyone up for caching Monday? I'd prefer a long hike to urban caching but I'm willing to do just about anything.
  3. Hi folks, It's been a while since I've last been on and while I'm considering going to the next cache bash, I just realized I had some time off on Monday so I'm feeling ambitious. I'm thinking about tackling Cajon Mtn. on Monday, 16 February. I realize it's 14 miles but I am in good condition. I am looking for people willing to go with me on such a trip. This will be an all day trip that will start early and probably return late. Only four caches on the trip (including the Flagman memorial) but they are all good and hard caches to get to. Any takers?
  4. I wouldn't put in anything too valuable unless you're setting up your own cache and want to reward the first finder. Most of the stuff I trade is in the $1-2 range but oftentimes I just sign the log and take/leave nothing. I am considering leaving either steel pennies or half-dollars as signature items. I'm more concerned with the steel pennies since they could rust, but they're cheaper than half-dollars. What's everyone's take on it?

I love paperless caching. That's what I would like to do. What program do you use to get all of the Web pages and coordinates in the Palm? I also need to know how much memory it uses since I have a lowly 2MB Palm. -- allanorn
  6. How is everyone acquiring their cache pages for the Anza-Borrego Tour? I think printing them out would use too much paper and I know the GPS can't store that much information. If I had better knowlege of Web programming I'd try to pull the data off that way but I think that would be too time consuming. Any ideas?

    RSS Feeds?

Any way we can request RSS feeds? Best use I can think of is on the main page where the last fifteen caches are posted or the last 200 logs.
  8. I use a Black Diamond Gemini headlamp. Keeps the hands free for hiking poles and writing in the log book. They're about $40 at REI and last quite a while on AA batteries. I'll have to show you if we meet up sometime.

    RSS feeds?

Is there a possibility there will be RSS feeds available to members? Best example I can give is where there is a feed for new caches posted. It may be available already, so if it is let me know where I can find it. Thanks in advance.
  10. I didn't see this when I searched for it, so I'll ask for it as an enhancement. Is there talk in the works to provide RSS feeds for some geocaching.com features? The best example I could provide is to provide a feed for new caches posted on the web site. This may have been done already but it may not be readily accessible to the public right now. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi folks, I should be able to make it at least one day. Since I'm unemployed (right now, at least), I can make it out on Friday for those interested in doing afternoon caching before the main party starts on the weekend. Unfortunately, my Honda Civic doesn't lend itself to high-clearance situations. Thus, I have to ask for some transportation help while we're out caching during the weekend. quote:Originally posted by jaxxom:The best place to use as a group site is at Agua Caliente. The reasons are many but here are a few. 1) a thermal pool to rest your body in after a long day of geocaching. Is there still interest in this? I could organize it since I have the free time. M.
  12. When I was planning a cache trip, I came across this archived cache. Apparently they placed an ammo box a little too close to the airport and a cacher was seen rehiding it and taking off. Should there be a mention about placing items near "high security" areas in the "hide a cache" FAQ?
