  1. I think adding a feature such as a distance checker would be a great addition to the sight, but in this case they hiked out, hid it and found out later it was to close so not sure that would work in this case. If you knew the coordinates before hiding the cache, this would be a very useful tool.
  2. I got my nickels in the mail awhile ago! Yippee, very nice gents Thanks for the trades
  3. Nice work, very nice I like it and look no tangled mess of mono filament
  4. MrJiffy #4 made a trip through Iowa from down in Missouri. Upon his arrival I took MrJiffy shopping for some swim shorts because he told me he really needed to work on his tan and wanted to go for a swim. After a stop at Kohls Mr Jiffy had his swimming trunks on and was ready for nice day hanging out at the pool. Here is MrJiffy #4 with his new shorts on with a cold glass of iced tea in his hand. It was a great day!
  5. I should clarify, my nickels are numbered just for personal use only, they are not trackable like a geocoin in any sense of the term and you will not be able to log the number or anything. Just thought that needed cleared up some.
  6. Pocket Query should help here is a link to assist in building one PQ How To
  7. It was worth a try, although I knew before hand the chance was nill
  8. I have a dirty mind and I dont see anything. Whats wrong with me?

  11. Greetings, I decided to place an order for some wooden nickels and just got them. I like how they came out and have a personal meaning to me, being a father of my caching buddy Drake, the exuberant 3 y/o that goes everywhere with me! This is my first attempt designing anything, not that I did it all except for the father/son side. If you want to trade, PM me
  12. Thats a pretty good idea that I may have to see if it works. You know what I could do is just go by a fancy PDA/Blackberry with GPS and call it good. Oh thats right, I aint got no money
  13. Found what I was looking for thanks, duh, google rocks
  14. I have a GPSmap 60CSx and I really like to use pocket queries for various types of caches, like multi only, larger container, unknown ect. The queries come in real handy to help me get my cache day started depending on where and what I want to hunt. My question is this. Is there a way that you can segment your queries on your GPS'r, like creating folders for the various pocket queries that I have? I think I know the answer but I would wish there were an easy way to file the caches by type sort of. Anyone have a solution for this or experimented with using symbols, GSAK or anything with pocket queries to make caching more pleasant and easy? Peace Out
  15. I just received my custom wooden nickels that are numbered but I cant remember where I need to go to get set up for having them tracked. I have looked around and searched but didnt come up with the link. Anyone know or do this?
  16. Stand back 20 feet and wait 20 seconds. Use the arrow and distance readout to determine approximate GZ. Go there and start looking for the cache, instead of chasing the arrow around while you're in the error zone. It's pointless (pointless, arrow - get it? Ha, I kill me!) Very Funny! I have been sort of following your suggestion to this point (get it?) I have been able to locate almost everything that I have been looking for. Its just frustrating to be walking to a cache lets say 500 feet out and see the red arrow move 90-180 degrees or flip around on the screen wildly. Yesterday I walked about a 100 foot perimeter around a cache to locate it because the course pointer sent me 50 feet one way, then the same the other way, until I said......FFFFF.....just look! Found it
  17. Another question I have about settings/heading and switching to compass heading when below a certain speed for more than a certain amount of time. What settings seems to work the best for this and how would this affect the red around when navigating to a cache. I have found that if I mess with this setting, the compass arrow will flip around if I am standing idle for a period of time. The heading is the same ie "S" it just that the go to arrow that I like to use seems inverted to me. Does that make sense?
  18. Has anyone found a good resolution to this problem? Yesterday I was nearing GZ but when I got to like 20-30 feet of the cache the compass arrow flipped around 180 degrees. I stood still and it would jump back and forth depending on if I took a step back and forth. Location was pretty open, no buildings, electronic compass turned off. I have noticed this happening more and more as of late
  19. Let me reiterate and make this very clear and state one more time. I agree that the mono line outside in the wild with the cache is a bad idea, plane and simple. I still like the creativeness of the cache and believe it can be placed by other means and in a location that makes it a great suitable hide for cachers and non-harmful to wildlife. Ill drink to that, cheers. And oh, it still smells here.
  20. You have no idea who I am and to make presumptive Ad hominem accusations and attacks regarding how I treat the environment are totally wrong and unfounded. I am a steward of the environment and have been for years thank you very much Go troll someplace else please! Now, back on topic. Great advice and some good constructive criticism has been generated regarding this issue. Obviously there are some strong opinions on whats good, not good for the environment. No one wants to destroy wildlife and environment, me included. Balled up fishing line, outside, aimlessly left on purpose? Maybe not the best avenue for a cache (stated previously by me) A creative cache using a fishing lure or bobber, barbs cut off if needed, cotton sewing thread not mono filament maybe, placed someplace with likely hood of not coming into contact with wildlife like birds. Its possible. That about does it for me, hard to imagine that a simple fishing lure worth 99 cents could have created such a stir and brought the discussion to a personal level like it has. But so be it. Im going fishing, have a nice day!
  21. Improve? Who said it needed improvement? Using this philosophy could cause caching to get a bad name and banned in places. People will push keep pushing the boundries but then suddenly a land manager will say, "Nope, don't like the direction caching is going. Please remove all your caches and don' hide anymore here." You dont actually believe that something is perfect and needs no improvement do you? There is always room for improvement, always, regardless. Improvement comes through hard work, keeping an open mind, thinking outside the box and willing to sometimes take a risk. That was my point. Those that are most successful at improving do this and more. I know of only one case of perfection, but thats another subject.
  22. You're kidding, right? Watch crows and jays sometime. I'm constantly fishing colorful and shiny things out of my gutters left behind by them. So no... I'm not kidding. Crows are good eatin! Jays? You can have and keep them, I have no time for them. They wreck havoc on other species in my back yard.
