  1. Keep up the good work Ian and let's hope you get the site up and running again soon.
  2. Looked more like Nuremburg to me. I thought maybe he was attending a Rally. No, if you look at the spelling it's quite different.
  3. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.asp...p;lon=-2.841767 (and as SP said, click on phoward on the map page to centre it on Lacto Towers)
  4. Unfortunately not I appear to be in the garden as the photo was taken before our new conservatory was built!
  5. I've used GPSGate for a long time on my PDA and so I get sent e-mails from them from time to time. I got one earlier today advertising a FREE service and you don't even have to buy GPSGate from them! Details can be seen here but basically it's a tracking tool which uses your existing Bluetooth GPS and wap phone. I've just spent half an hour playing with it and have put together this web page as a sample exercise. If you click on my name the map will scroll to my current position. Not very exciting in itself as I'm at home but there seem to be all sorts of possibilities for when you're out Geocaching. This is not an endorsement for Franson GPSGate, just sharing the idea. If a technonumpty like me can produce a simple page like this in a few minutes I'm sure you wizards out there can amaze the rest of us!!
  6. You've let everyone into our little secret now!
  7. I think the time has come to draw this discussion to a close. I doubt the last statement can be substantiated so now's the time to stop.
  8. Short answer only on this one I'm afraid.....No! edit to say: I'd second KandG's advice about making it a short multi. Sounds like someone is now watching the original spot What my Irish friend said I'm afraid.
  9. The word from Groundspeak is this is a scam, they know nothing about it and are certainly not involved with this company.
  10. If a cache has been abandoned then the normal course of events is to request it be archived. You can then submit a new cache at the same location, possibly using the original container and contents. However in exceptional circumstances it is possible to get Groundspeak to carry out a "forced" adoption. As has been suggested you should contact one of the reviewers who will then consider kicking off the process. This normally takes four weeks. I hope this helps, Lactodorum
  11. 4 caches reviewed so far Waiting for the rush
  12. I've just sprayed my screen with cider!! Absobloodylutely brilliant. Many thanks and a very merry Xmas to all.
  13. No caches within striking distance of Lactodorum Towers but I'll be reviewing as normal so someone could be in for a Xmas Day FTF
  14. And with that sentiment I think the time has come to draw a close to this particular discussion. Thanks for all the contributions.
  15. Just for you, here's some I wore earlier, while doing some planning notes for attending the Mega Event next year... (You notice how I cunningly kept On Topic there? ) MrsB That should boost numbers!!
  16. I shall attend, even if it means a 4 hour drive in a 28mpg car and the cost of accomodation while I'm there. Well done to the committee for their hard work so far, you've got my full support.
  17. Lots of people watching the event page (here) and lots of people saying they intend going in this thread but only 6 "Will Attend" logs on the page at the time of writing this post. If you are hoping to go along please be sure to add a "Will Attend" log as this will help influence Groundspeak's decision whether to award it Mega status.
  18. So have I, but from a reviewer's perspective. Maybe we can persuade them to post more details here. I'm now in touch with, and working with, the person organising the Geocaching side of things. I'm confident it will be a good event with some fully compliant caches.
  19. No, your eye are still OK Ali, they've removed the picture (and I've thanked them for their quick action).
  20. I know these people quite well and have represented Geocaching.com at one of their seminairs. They are normally a very responsible group and are aware of the guidelines so I guess this picture is just an oversight. I'll drop the boss an e-mail pointing out the problem.
  21. So have I, but from a reviewer's perspective. Maybe we can persuade them to post more details here.
  22. To get a cache reviewed it must be in position. To put a cache in position you must have visited the site. If you visited the site (and had your GPS with you!) you will know the coordinates. So where's the need to use a map?
