Hello,
Everyone loves to geocache, or we would not be here. We love to find caches and hide them and as much as we hate to admit it sometimes we have the better stories for the DNF (did not find) .But, here is a question that I have thought about over the winter. Now I love cache just as much as anyone else. But What if you have them DNF, as long as with other people for a period of time. You have contacted the owner multiply times with respect and have heard nothing back. But as you contact the owner you have found out that they have not been logged in, in over two or three years. I feel that there should be something you can beable to due about this. What I mean by that, is if the owner is "inactive" that one of two things should take place. The owner should first take down the caches, or adopt them out to willing people. Or that if something like this accures that active geocacher in the area should be able to adopt geocaches that the owner has gone "inactive." Now I am not saying this is true in all instances. There should be guidelines, dates that are set, multiply active attemp to contact the owner and aware them of what could and might happen. All in all it is the owner's choice, but if there is no owner then what? What can be done for this? Not just for the cache's sake but for the joy of geocaching? Now in no way am I blaming or trying to affend anyone, just putting the question out there...
