  1. ..They (Groundspeak) must take our(fellow geocachers) concerns (needs archived/maitance) into consideration... (We, Geocachers) Use common sense (knowing when to or not to list these concerns) when geocaching is the best advice... ...OK, you lost me. Who must take what concerns into consideration? What is this common sense you are advocating? Just what is it you'd like to see done?... All I set out was to find out what is/can be done for caches that you would not like to see archived, due to it's age or a well thought out cache idea. As well as you can tell the cache owner has not maintened it as well as seems no longer be caching. I am not saying we need this (adoption) or don't need this. Just stating that their should be a way, other then to loss a cache, to keep a cache going. I could care less about the ownership of the cache, but more of how other fellow geocachers, looking for the cache, can contact someone who will be there for help or notes about the cache.. I hope that has help cleared it up...
  2. I am not saying to sue someone over a cache, nor anything against geocacher who have pasted? Also realtor thing is not the same as geocache. Groundspeak is a lisiting service not a realtor. So, ok they cannot send a cache of one owner to be a adopted by another geocacher. Ok. So what can they do. We have already discussed the options of what fellow geocachers can do if a cache is not meeting the standards. That all we can do. They must take our concerns into consideration... Use common sense when geocaching is the best advice...
  3. I feel that CCWashburn does have the best solution that geocaching itself could due. I
  4. I under stand about different post, my real issue is what if it a "good" cache, a cache that we have found and thought, that just blows all the other caches out of the water because it is so good... In which by taking it down would be a loss to the local geocaching experance... I have no problem mainting it myself because it is such a good and old cache, but are you able to do with out crossing another geocacher line?
  5. Hello, Everyone loves to geocache, or we would not be here. We love to find caches and hide them and as much as we hate to admit it sometimes we have the better stories for the DNF (did not find) .But, here is a question that I have thought about over the winter. Now I love cache just as much as anyone else. But What if you have them DNF, as long as with other people for a period of time. You have contacted the owner multiply times with respect and have heard nothing back. But as you contact the owner you have found out that they have not been logged in, in over two or three years. I feel that there should be something you can beable to due about this. What I mean by that, is if the owner is "inactive" that one of two things should take place. The owner should first take down the caches, or adopt them out to willing people. Or that if something like this accures that active geocacher in the area should be able to adopt geocaches that the owner has gone "inactive." Now I am not saying this is true in all instances. There should be guidelines, dates that are set, multiply active attemp to contact the owner and aware them of what could and might happen. All in all it is the owner's choice, but if there is no owner then what? What can be done for this? Not just for the cache's sake but for the joy of geocaching? Now in no way am I blaming or trying to affend anyone, just putting the question out there...
