  1. Thanks, I will give that a try.
  2. I'm looking for someone in the North Georgia area (Dahlonega) that is interested in combining riding and caching. Send me a message if interested.
  3. Haven't seen much response to this post. Looking for anyone in the Dahlonega area to team up for some caches. I'm 41 and love to take the Harley out looking.
  4. I had the same issue with GSAK, and found out some of these programs do not talk directly to the colorado. Once you great the GPX file just drag and drop to your Garmin through explorer. Yuk had the right advice, I also pull up the area and click on the ones I want to go staight to my colorado. You can also do pocket queries, copying the GPX file directly to your Garmin.
  5. That is my frustration. Before 2.51 my readout brought me to the 1 foot mark without a jump on my caches, after 2.51 the thing jumps like a rabbit and never states I am closer than 4 feet. I may end up reverting back to 2.4 and see if it stops jumping.
  6. yes, I calibrate quite often. I the case of the last two catches I went after I calibrated the compass while standing close by the caches. In one case my distance jumped from 4 feet to 35 feet with me only taking 2 steps. Again, with 2.4 I had dead on numbers and now it does nothing but jump when I get close to the cache.
  7. I just upgraded to 2.51 for my 4 day trip through MA, RI, an CT. Prior to the upgrade I was targetting in to 1 foot, after the upgrade my distance is way off and it jumps all over. I was going to stick with 2.4 but let the hype of improvements get to me. Now I regret it completely and had a miserable day of getting 1 cache. I will give it a little more time, but if it doesnt settle down I will go back to 2.4
  8. I have had my 400t for about 2 weeks now. Prior to this my only other experience was using a friends Vista. He is now jealous as the 400t does all the things he complained about on his Vista, e.g. full discriptions, hints, auto-logging back at the PC. I am getting ready to go on a 3-state caching mission, if it works as well over the next week as it did the last two in the North Georiga mountains I will be a happy camper.
  9. Hey Burl, I am from Dahlonega and have just started geo-caching. My kids think this is like treasure hunting and love this. I work and live at Hidden Lake, send an email if you want to try a joint cache sometime.
  10. I believe that the long lock issues are related to the time loss issue. It is possible that Garmin put something in 2.51 to further workaround the issue (they put some changes in 2.4). If this is the case and you have a unit that has this problem you might see slower lock times. GO$Rs I hate to give up a good thing, I am getting full load and lock in under 30 seconds with 2.4. I am afraid if I update I may go backwards in response time and sensitivity.
  11. you have to download the the beta 2.51 onto your computer then run it while your gps is connected.
  12. I have been reading many complaints of the gps not being as sensitive and taking longer to lock on after 2.51 was installed...have you had this problem g-o?
  13. I have chosen not to update to 2.51 yet as mine is working great right out of the box with 2.4. I am hoping they get out a non-beta version soon but figure why fix what is not broken. Of course this could be cursing me and I will have a melt down on my first big geocaching trip to MA next week.
  14. I have had my Colorado 3 days and spent some time today trying it out. I get full load and signal lock in 30 seconds each time. Each of the 3 caches I got today I was led to the 1 foot mark and did not have to move from that spot as I found the cache. I walked into the thick of the national forest tonight and never lost signal or compass and found my way back exactly to my waypoint I set to make sure I didn't get lost coming out. So far I am impressed with this and have not regretted it, even through the learning curves.

  16. I got verification from a Colorado user that the internal memory is big enough for the entire thing with room to spare.
  17. Additional waypoints that are associated with a cache. Thanks guys.
  18. Oh yes, page by page I have slowly been going through that. So much info, so little time! I do have to say the people of this forum have been great, it is nice to find such a community with which to become involved.
  19. The smaller file is the child waypoints. And those are.....?
  20. Thanks. From what I have been told the CO's internal memory is large enough to house the entire CN NT with room still left for caches.
  21. Coming from a newbie, do you need both gpx files from the pocket querie? I loaded the bigger one onto my CO and all the caches and info was there. Am I missing something by not loading the smaller file?
  22. I'm glad I saw this as I had some of the same questions. I have 400t and was going to ny the CN NT and wanted to make sure it was on my computer so I could only install the areas I wanted. As I don't plan on going to HI, AK, Peurto Rico, or Canada too soon I believe I can save a lot of room on my Colorado. If I am reading this correctly as long as I have the software I can re-enter/delete whenever I want.
  23. Bless you Life! I just ran a querry and sent the gpx file straight from my email to my colorado and have all 500 caches for my trip next week! This was much faster than one by one as I was doing it. I appreciate the time you spent answering my questions, while these is still a lot to learn (it needs a bigger manual), you have saved me lots of time in trial and error just to get started.
  24. Prior to seeing your response I uninstalled GSAK to see what would happen if I checked multiple boxes and tried to download those waypoints. This worked well and went through MapSource that came with it, but this only set the caches as waypoints and submitted none of the cache info. I did one querry and will see what happens when I download that, hopefully it will work perfectly. If the person above is correct GSAK doesn't work with the colorado, but if there is a way I have no problems re-installing. As to my intentions, between living in the N. Georgia mountains and monthly traveling for work I plan on doing this alot. I am prepping for a 4 day stay along the MA Cape for "work" on the 3rd and will have lots of time to get out and about, therefore the reason I am trying to figure this thing out. Thanks for all the input. PS If anyone reading this is in the Dahlonega, GA area and knows of any clubs to join please email me.
  25. The term newbie is an understatement. I had read in multiple site the need and eas of GSAK and thought that was needed for all GPS. A friend just walked me through my first query but he nothing about the colorado. I am uninstalling GSAK and am hoping that I can now send multiple caches as one time. I literally know nothing about these so am learning via reading and trial and error.
