  3. As a telephone tech support guy there are times i would love a good pair of earplugs There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  4. Has anyone seen a three leaved maple seed before? Found one today during my lunchtime walk. Genetic mutation from all this city air? There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  5. LOL when i first saw that i thought of one of these. While not exactly the same thing, as above, semi-similar. http://216.71.158.68/webcat/product810.html Could make a decent micro, Of course replace the spikes with a log. 6. Wonder if theres a way to extract the data yourself and re-use, or is the data encrypted somehow? $11 would make for a nice digital camera even without the LCD screen. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  7. Hey scott, I'd be interested. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  8. You may want to post at www.treasurenet.com/forum there are a lot of metal detecting enthusiasts there. It does look a lot like the PI detector kit I stuck in a piece of PVC pipe to make water proof. Maybe watch the video in slo mo and look for marks? 9. My old job used to be to travel accross the state (well delaware) and proctor surveys in the schools, Once or twice I had a chance to look for caches if i had a long break and there was a nearby cache. Got paid and mileage re-imbrsment. Now get to sit in a cage (cubible) smaller than my dogs LOL. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  10. Just a crazy but probably unimplementable idea. Get all the in dash navigation systems in the cars to work wireless network. They would be able to communicate their direction and speed of travel to each other, and then display that information on a map. Color coding for the speed. Either a peer to peer type thing where each unit would send all/most of its data out on the network every 2-3 minutes which may cause bandwidth problems (i think), or something like the APRS system for HAM radio, and each unit just send its own speed, directionm and location, but unless the manufacturer created a lot of digipeaters in the area, range could be an issue. Or maybe a system where a master could be voted for the area, others would send info to the masters, the masters would then communicate all their data to each other, and then send it out to the subs. 11. Its probably been said but I'd mention the Cache In Trash Out, Family Activity, Navigational Skills building, and added visitors to the park. It would probably be helpful to stress you will mantain the cache, and remove/relocate if there is environmental damage There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  12. You could get a haynes manual for the car, and rewire the cig lighter to by always on. I did this with my old car and had no problems (except when i drained the battery), There should be some lines that are always hot, and just tap into them if they can handle the power. Its been several years, and i'm not allowed to mess with the new car, or i'd give you more details. If you have a real high power inverter you could run wires directly from the battery. Also you may want to look into a portable battery charger that has a cig lighter outlet and just power from that. 13. They are similar to the marine ebirps and the new ELT's for aircraft, operating on 463mhz (i think) as opposed to the current ELT's which are on 121.5. Several years ago they were about 500 dollars, and there was an interesting debate between someone from the AOPA and the CAP search group about whether or not to make them mandatory equipment for aircraft. 14. I've never even had all 12 channels recieving, so i highly doubt that the 18 would be better/faster. The unit would probably make far more difference then the channels in my opinion, I had an old eagle accunav unit that was 5 channel and worked a lot better than my first 12 channel magellan. The breeze was blowing gently and it made the flowers sway The air and trees were lovely on this enchanted day There was the cutest birdie there and he had the cutest bill I beckoned and he flew to me and he sat upon my sill His feathers were so lovely as he ate my crust of bread. Then I quickly slammed the window shut and smashed his stinkin' head_ Editors note: This is the PG-13 version. The original had a word with F instead of "stinkin". _"Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day" - Dave Barry_ LOL Sounds like an old cadence from when I was in CAP forgot one line though... 16. quote:Originally posted by TEAM 360:$849. is way too steep for me...I'll stick with the $1.99 Toys R Us waterwings and swim out to the lake caches... Definitely sounds more fun, but doubt that I could convince the SO to go for that. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  17. I was wondering if anyone had experience/reccomendations with inflatable canoes/kayaks. Looking to do a few river island caches and doubt my ECHO would handle something full size on its roof. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  18. I tried back in november, she got mad and called the hunt off.(guess i should have tried to make it more romantic) One of these days i'll put the box out and make a real cache. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  19. www.opera.com Opera is a web browser, that is far better than ie and netscape, it has a built in popup blocker, as well as a quick way to turn images off for faster page loading. The built in e-mail client is pretty good too There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  20. The opera browser has a built in pop-up blocker, You may want to look into it, as its far superior to IE, or netscape in my opinion. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  21. Any chance there was another browser window on the task bar that you couldn't open? Some sites launch a window that will only stay minimized on the task-bar, and that is used to launch pop-up's. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  22. My alma mattar (sounds wierd saying that) has something similar. The one of the web site looks a lot more interesting though. check out http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=28465 There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  23. This weekend while out, my RINO locked up and I had to take the battery out to even get it turned off. Has anyone else had this happen? There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  24. Given the crowded nature and security I'm thinking inside the theme park would probably be a bad idea. With the general paranoi (SP) especially around children theres bound to be someone that see's something and calls the cops. But then again it would be the ultimate test in discretness. There are 10 types of people in the world..those that understand binary and those that don't
  25. Glad to hear that worked out for you. Tried something like that myself, the cache had a little switch that would trigger a one of those digital voice recording chips from radioshack saying will you marry me, and a device to raise up the ring when the cache was opened. Unfortunatly she got mad during the hike and after some colorful words on how she really hated hiking etc...the hunt was terminated. Of course stupid me had put the ring in the cache so the whole day i was paranoid till i could retrieve it. Ended up taking her to dinner in philly and phantom of the opera. Best Luck Phil
