  1. Hello Everybody!

The Caching Place has been on a bit of a hiatus for over a year. My wife of 37 + years, died and I moved to a new city, Leavenworth, WA. The Caching Place is in full operation once again.

I just purchased a new very sophisticated Vision 810 computer aided engraving machine. The cost of engraving by 3rd parties was becoming way too expensive. Now I can charge, for example just $8.95 for up to 18 characters on a Geocoin. I'm designing and collaborating to produce beautiful new Geocoins with the quality you've come to expect from The Caching Place. I look forward to posting new designs on this forum in the near future!

    Cordially,

    - Jim Berk

  3. I have been waiting for these things to be available again for six months. There are photos of it on the website, but still no new stock. Anyone know anything about it?

    Hi!

We have been on a sabbatical for the past three months. We will have stock again in aproximately 45 days.

    Thank you for your patience!

  4. Merging with the original Snowman geocoin thread. Please remember, one coin, one thread, keep all the history and information in one place for the community.

    Hi Eartha

Please correct the merge you created. The Photographs are suppose to be the first item that everyone is suppose to see not the design proofs. The title of the topic is the PHOTOGRAPHS JUST IN and the merge has buried the photographs. Please correct.

    Cordially,

    Jim

  5. The topics were merged and unfortunately the photographs of the actual coins are now in the middle of the thread. The design photos is what you first see, those are obviously not the photos, please see the actual photos. We've had a tremendous response so far!

    Cordially,

We received our sample Geocaching Snowman coin early! These are actual photographs of the coin. The back of the coin is a beautiful black, however the photograph has a relective grey tinge to it that I wasn't able to correct. I need to become a better photographer! The coin is beautiful! It is trackable with its own icon. The price is $9.95. This is the first of four Seasonal Geocaching Snowman Coins. The Season Spring will be released in approximagely sixty days with the other two seasons being released every sixty - ninety days. The Artist is T. Steele Jones.

This is a pre-sale. Coins will be shipped to our customers May 18th or sooner.

Please visit www.thecachingplace.com for further details and if you'd like to place an order.

    Cordially,

    Jim

  7. Please do not de-rail this thread with sale pitches for The Caching Place. It is off topic for the thread. This type of conversation can take place offline, and that kind of information can be seen on your website. Also, please include a direct link to the geocoin sale in your sales posts, so people don't have to jump through hoops to find the coin for sale in this thread.

    Hi Eartha!

It was never my intention to violate the rules of the forum. I'm new at utilizing forums to communicate and will try to prevent future faux pauxs. Please accept my apologies!

    Cordially,

    Jim

  8. $11.99 does seem a bit high. Does this include shipping and handling?

In regards to the pricing, we have tentatively set the price at $11.99 but we haven't made a final decision. I'm curious what do you think the price should be?

    Cordially,

    Jim

  9. Hello again!

We purchased The Caching Place back in June of 2008. We've moved the business from the State of Utah, to the Seattle, WA area. Craig Hendricks, one of the founders of the company is still a consultant for the The Caching Place. Please visit our website at www.thecachingplace.com and click on ABOUT US for further details. We love being in the Geocaching Community.

If you're not receiving a newsletter then please go to our website and sign up! There are a lot exciting things going on!

    Cordially,

    Jim & Barbara Berk

    Thanks for the reply.

In all honesty though, I was hoping for reservations over pre-sales. A lot of folks here have been burned by presales and hesitate to participate in them. Personally, there are only 3 vendors that I trust well enough at this point to go that route with.

Hopefully there will be some extra coins available after the orders are filled for me to try and snag. It looks to be a cute coin and nice idea for a series. :)

    Hi Again!

    Hi again,

Maybe I've got misinformation here but didn't The Caching Place recently change ownership?

I know I've ordered from the website in the past but it has been many months since I've gotten a newsletter and somewhere along the line I seem to recall being told that the store had been sold.

I apologize if I have my facts wrong but if I'm confused, maybe others are too and this would be a great opportunity to find out!

    :)

PS - I certainly don't mean to detract from the point of this thread though. Sorry if this is too off topic.

  10. Thanks for the reply.

    Hello!

Many of you are familiar with our Antique Bronze Pocket Decoder. We are excited and proud to announce that we've just created an Antique Silver version of the original Pocket Decoder!

This is a beautiful coin. Those of you that have ordered the original Antique Bronze version know the great quality and attention to detail of these coins. The mechanical design is identical. The back is now a ruby red, the case is Antique Silver, and the center wheel is red. It is trackable and has its own icon. It really is a wonderful coin that is both beautiful and functional!

Please visit our website www.thecachingplace.com for details. This is in stock ready to ship!

    Cordially,

    Hello!

Have you ever wondered what a snowman does in Spring, Summer, Fall? The Geocaching Snowman from T. Steele Jones answers that question!

The Caching Place is excited to present our new Geocaching Snowman Series!!!

This is the first Geocaching Snowman Coin in a series of four. The Geocaching snowman will be depicted in his seasonal Geocaching environments in Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. The Artist is T. Steele Jones of Carthage, MO. We will post photographs of the coin on May 5th, begin taking pre-orders on May 6th, and start shipping the coin May 25th.

This is a 1.75" diameter trackable coin with its own icon. The tentative price is $11.99. The remaining three seasons will be produced once every 2-3 months.

The artist is a full time student counselor for a school in Missouri and a gifted water color painter.

    A short Bio follows:

    T. Steele Jones

Tom Jones has been painting with transparent watercolors for 30 years. He enjoys painting whimsical characters of snowmen in scenes that warm the heart. Jones uses his own photos to capture the light and shadows of his creations as well as his imagination for his snowfolk.

He is an associate member of the Missouri Watercolor Society, as well as a member of ArtCentral and Spiva Center for the Arts. Jones has won several local awards including Best of Show 2001 and 2003 at ArtCentral, and Best of Show at the Thomas Hart Benton Competition in 2004 as well as the People’s Choice Award at the Lamar Fair in 2008. Tom also has work in private homes and on display at Cherry’s Custom Frames and Gallery.

“The idea of lifting someone’s spirit or giving them a laugh (which is a blessing) to possibly make their day better has always been important to me, I hope my art does that.”

He and his family are noobies at geocaching but love to get outdoors together and enjoy the hunt. He hopes that the combination of drawing snowmen and the love of geocaching will be appreciated in this new series of coins.

Please visit The Caching Place at www.thecachingplace.com for further details.

    Cordially,

    Jim
