  1. We did that one back in 2008 and have to agree it is a great cache. The only shame is that the Cornish 2008 geocoin that was originally attched to the log book, it was to stay in the box and just be discovered, got lifted by one light fingered cacher. Real shame as it was nice coin to see.
  2. Great story of a TB owners valiant rescue bid . I must say that I question the cache owner's decision to place somebody elses TB in a puzzle cache on a remote island that has taken 4 years to get a FTF. If it had been one of my TB's whose mission did not state 'To visit isolated islands for long holidays' I would have been a little annoyed. Personally I wouldn't place a TB/Coin in a puzzle cache as they often go for long periods without being found. Tin hat & flak jacket on and ready for incoming
  3. Had a look at this one and it seems quite good except that I can't seem to find a way to input a 'Next Stage' for multis. Maybe it is just me. The amount of apps I have now, I think it is time to write a report on each one. Double tap on the map. Thanks for that Ian.

  5. You could try THIS ONE Very nice site and only 11 mile from Crawley with plenty of caches nearby.
  6. Try putting the following link ito a web browser and upgrading your Oregon's software to the later version You will then have the Next Stage facility. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/file/view/Oregon_WebUpdater__410.gcd Easy to do, just download it and follow the instructions below: Change the name of the file you just download to gupdate.gcd Attach the Oregon to your computer and verify that it is in USB Mass storage mode Copy gupdate.gcd to [OR drive]:\Garmin\gupdate.gcd Restart the Oregon Join this Wiki page http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Home Plenty of information on there.
  7. Have a look at Cachehound, it's a relatively new app but works very well. I have managed to load all of Devon and Cornwall on a 1:25000 OS map (used with RMaps)to my phone that will work off line, so with the ability of Cachehound to take .gpx files it is worth a look. NOT a free app though.
  8. Luckily I am using the Beta version of GSAK 8 which lets you log direct via the geocaching.com api, brilliant and works everytime. For anything else the site is sloooooooooooooooooooow
  9. There is THIS EVENT taking place early in September It is always worth checking the GAGB Events Calendarfor events/meetings that are local to you.
  10. Having seen the devastation at some geocache sites I have to agree with Amberel.
  11. They are available HERE if anybody is interested.
  12. Downloaded and installe ok but it won't run, probably due to the version of Windows so I imagine you will have the same problem. I would therefore suggest that you try Cachemate, get the Pocket PC version from HERE, only $8 so shouldnt break the bank.
  13. You could use Cachemate but Cachebox looks pretty good and should do the job. The good points I can see are: Import GPX files directly so you can simply import the ones generated by the PQ system. Create field notes. You can enter additional waypoints, could be handy for multis. Just downloaded and read the PDF manual and one of the requirements is Windows 5 or 6 smf most early PDA's are Windows 4 I am going to download it and try it on my PDA
  14. we are back in the Horsham area after 6th and then our 'lets Go Fishing' series will be back up and running. If you do it pop into the caravan site and see if we are ther. You cant miss the flag.
  15. Ask for them to go live on the day and print out a few copies of the pages for those who want the details
  16. I must ask, has anybody who is against these challenges on the grounds that there is no box at the end claimed a find(s) on the YOSM as there is no box there either?
  17. Thank you Mrs B, Doh blame it on age. Job done.
  18. Inadvertantly moved a couple of trackables back to my Inventory from the Collection and now there doesn't seem to be any sign of the 'Action' required to move them back. Anybody else found this problem?
  19. seems to have improved and managed to log three caches. posted on the GC facebook page but it has gone now.
  20. Have totally given up. Written the logs in GSAK and will try again tomorrow. If the slowness is being caused by extra demands on the server by people logging Challenges then I think GC needs to look at moving them and taking care of it's normal business and paying customers.
  21. Still no sign of my souvenir, has anybody got one yet?
  22. If you would like to post in the GAGB forums I can reset your password for you and send you it. Cheers
  23. have to correct you on this as this the blurb that you get when you click on the Souvenir itself 10/10/10 is the date of Groundspeak’s global geocaching challenge. The date is significant because it represents 10 years of geocaching and 10 years of Groundspeak in 2010.
  24. I just picked up a Acer PDA with built in GPS and use it as a back up to the Oregon and got the mapping. Got it for £37
  25. Quite agree, why should we keep it quiet. Anybody who buys a GPS unit from Garmin will find the Geocache mode and look it up. I only explain the game to people who are really interested and into walking. I suppose that the answer to the original question is simple, 'just keep starting anti newbie threads like this' and you should drive them away as they will get the impression that we are all grumpy gits who have a secret society similar to the M@$ONS.
