  1. My 400t is doing the same thing....drives me NUTS! Keeps saying I need an update, or one is available...
  2. that bothers me as well. I would liek to know what I have transferred to my unit, and when it is done, if in process.
  3. any news on an update to cure the "no street name' issue afte rthe latest updates? I am looking for an update from Garmin...
  4. Simply open Task Mgr > Processes (Cntrl-Alt-Del), click on the User Name column, Basecamp will appear and you can tell if it's active. I do, and is is active, but "not responding".
  5. Even with subscription, although a bit better, it is still pretty bad. I agree. I know it is a load of images, but it is SO slow, and BaseCamp does not do a good job letting users know what it is doing, when it is doing something. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to shut down because it was "thiniking" or "not responding". taht is at home and the office (XP and Vista) It works, but s l o w
  6. Thanks G-O-Cashers for notifyig GArmin. Also, I think the limit to the size of each downloaded area is NOT you or your computer or the room on your device...if you look at the dialog box when you are selcting your area and the resolution etc...it refers to the server size limitation....not your memory free.
  7. I have a 400t and teh streets are gone. They better fix that, and soon. Birdseye download is kinda slow...and basecamp it a turtle.
  8. What do you mean it is out now? can you get me a link to the Birdseye?
  9. I have a 1350T. It is wide screen, has speech and FM traffic. I love it. The POI's are a blessing that I use more than I thought. "Dad, where is McDonalds?" "Dad, I need a bathroom". With Kid's, it rocks.
  10. I agree with that. You can do it, you can find a cache with a cell phone. Especially if you are a pseudo-veteran cacher, you likely will find most, just because you have a feel for where to look if you get within 100-300 feet.
  11. Well, looks like the lack of accuracy usinging the iPhone, not the GC app, for GeoCaching is not so rare. Kind of what I had understood. This is why choosing to hide/place a cache (or find one) with an iPhone would raise a concern for me. follow the link below for the review: geocaching with the iPhone REVIEW http://www.cornellfinch.com/2010/03/19/geo...ith-the-iphone/ WHO-DEY!
  12. I emailed Garmin the first week of March. I was told no exact date in March was published, even internally, but that late March was the target for release. So all is not too late or lost. I check daily.
  13. outside of being placed inside an ammo can, they are useless once the O-ring is dropped by a random cacher....all is wet inside.
  14. every find is a FTF (first time finding)...so yes, anyone can claim it at anytime.
  15. ...and with all those choices, you still opted to roll with "WRITE SHOP ROBERT"
  16. It is one of the view DVD's Iown. I have the metal case set. It is the best series I have seen to date. Especially WWII related. I can watch it anytime and never get sick of it. Amazing what our fathers and grandfathers (in my case) did for us. -WHO-DEY
  17. So...it seems like the best thing I could do is: Hide caches like the ones I like to find Write logs like the ones I like to read Treat people like I want to be treated this may be going into my signature...
  18. I am glad that you stop by and got our cache and that your son enjoyed it. I believe that all residental caches and well as business cache give the feeling of being watch, at least that is what we feel. Hopefully you did not find it creepy. We have wanted to place one on our property for a while, but we wanted something obivious so that it would not be creepy and it took some time to find the right container. As for the neighbor, don't worry about him he knows about the cache. As a matter of fact, we both checked out the container a couple of days ago. Johngie, yours for sure was not creepy....bright sunny day...no worries. :)TFTC
  19. the best insurance is to place the cache in a beehive, the middle of the woods, surrounded by water and poison oak or poison ivy, and make it a ridiculous puzzle/challenge cache.
  20. well..as I said I would...I went and found Johngies cache placed at his house (TAG YOUR IT - GC22Y0C). (pictured above) Since I knew where it was via the photo's , and since I know the area really well, and know of him, my son and I headed over there on my way taking him to school. I will say, there was little eery feeling like the whole residential neighborhood was watching me sign the log. The felling had zero to with Johngie, or his neighborhood....but it was a neighborhood with houses and only houses everywhere you look. Anyway, it was a big wooden box. My son liked it and had fun, and that is what is most important.
  21. well...it was logged...this thread can be deleted....
