  1. I recently tried (on a number of occasions) to download the Garmin Plugin 2.8.2 for the Mac. I followed all instructions and am sure I have the correct system requirements but each time I complete the download, the test page which automatically checks the validity of the action notifies me that it "cannot detect" the software. I have the same story when I try to download coordinates from Groundspeak. I have checked my plugins via Safari and this (contrary to what I am told by Garmin and Groundspeak) shows I do have the plugin installed. Anybody have any idea where I am going wrong.
  2. I'm not sure if the problem is the software or the way in which I download and save the GPX file. I don't have any problems in transferring data from the GPS unit to Bobcat (it seems to go seamlessly) but it is just the fact that the downloaded GPX files are viewed as text (".txt" file type) which is then not recognised. Any suggestions?
  3. I have a Garmin Map 60 CSx and have been trying to download GPX files for it. The problem seems to be that when I download the file it is stored only as a text file which I then can't get the Garmin software (Bobcat - as I am a Mac user) to recognize. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. I have taken a look at GPS Visualizer and it looks interesting. My issue though is how to upload the data (whether it be a KML file or a text file etc.) Can you advise me a little further???
  5. I think you're saying you're OK with Windows programs? If so have a look at GPSTrackmaker which is freeware. It has a one-click feature to open your tracks in Google Earth. The compatibility issues were because Garmin still don't have a fully developed management system for the mac. I am not running windows as a parallel program on my mac so as mapsource isn't supported i was looking for any freeware which could help me out (or just advice in general on how to move forward
  6. I am a newbie to the GPS world and need a bit of help. I am an active hiker and have just added a Garmin Map 60CSx to my ever expanding backpack. I am trying out the creature in preparation for a trip to the Italian dolomites in a couple of months and would love to be able to subsequently upload the tracks/routes to GE for a more interactive viewing experience. I have been looking at the KML tutorials on the GE website but felt a little out of my depth with their teachings (not being a systems programmer or anything) so wondered if their was somebody out their who could help with some simpler advice that any lay person with a modicum of knowhow could realistically follow. Merci in advance. One other point; I am using a new intel core duo imac which has caused a few interesting compatibility moments but which it seems to be over (for now).java script:emoticon('',%20'smid_26')
