  1. In Ghana? Where is that? Regards, bushrat
  2. Thanks. Am looking forward to this. Of course many Ghanains will not have the money to afford a GPS. However, many Ghanaians do have more money than you can imagine. Also, the country is crawling with expat engineers and contractors and every second has a GPS. But I guess they have better things to do than crawling through the bush. All caches so far are placed within 60 km of the capital and within 5 kms of one of the major roads. This road links the capital to one of the most frequently visited tourist sides. However, the caches are not easy to access. Even if it is only a few km. b.
  3. I have been placing a few caches in Ghana over the last year and enjoyed that. However, not a single person is looking for them. Not a chance. People here are not interested in geocaching. Also, nobody else is placing caches ( except one, which was hidden in a government restricted area by somebody passing through ). So, if you happen to come to Ghana, please place a cache. I would like to hunt for one myself one day. bushrat
  4. Good idea. Maybe I will just do that. Thanks. Are there any pre-configured press statetments or do I need approval of the approvers first for an article like that? After all, I am new to the thing and would not want to write something wrong or misleading or whatever. b. _________________________________________ We tend to be betrayed by destinations. 6. Thanks for the replies. Time in Ghana is 3:03 PM. We are on GMT. Same time as in London. Have contacted erik. Thanks again. b. _________________________________________ We tend to be betrayed by destinations. The beauty is in the walking.
  7. Ok, thanks for all your replies to my other question about cirtual caches. I was trying to find my "regional approver" everywhere you suggested and on the whole webpage, but couldn't. Any idea how I can locate the regional approver for Ghana, West-Africa? b. _____________________________________________ We tend to be betrayed by destinations. The beauty is in the walking.
  8. I am planning to place a cache in a location which is really worth it in my opionion: great hike and phantastic view when there. BUT: the place is in a farming area. A lot of - mostly illiterate - farmers with their farm-helps and kids are around there. Problem is, if they find the cache, they will be more interested in the plastic box and the notepad then in www.geocaching.com Now in this location there is also a Geographic Point with an inscription on it. Can't be removed and is not likely to be destroyed. The inscription says something about the location and a little bit something about the history in that region. Do you think this would qualify as a VIRTUAL Cache? We tend to be betrayed by destinations. The beauty is in the walking.

  10. Hallo, i placed two caches for in ghana and am planning to place more. But: it looks like i am the only one around here doing this and if it continues like that i will only be picked up by the environmental protection agency for littering the country with plastic boxes. :-) b. 11. Well, there was none in the Republic of Ghana till Sunday, 10/05/03. Go for it. b. We tend to be betrayed by destinations. The beauty is in the walking.
  12. Right, found it. Sorry. Read the wrong pages first. Now I am ok and will move to the "getting started" forum, where I obviously belong. Thanks again. b.
  13. Hi, thanks for your replies. I will check the other threads. Just to clarify my problem: I cannot enter a waypoint unless I am there. Once I am at a certain location I can enter the waypoint and later use the GOTO to get there. But if I have never been there, I cannot enter the coordinates. Or am I wrong? b.
  14. Hallo all, I have very recently bought an eTrex Summit and am very impressed by it. ( But that is maybe because it is my first GPS ). However I thought I can enter destinations that I read from a map or from elsewhere and then use the Summit to get there. Now I found out I need a software and a data transfer cable for that purpose. Data Transfer Cable is no problem, but which is the best ( and inexpensive ) software for that? I would be really grateful for info on that. Thanks, kevin
