  4. I contacted geoswag about people wanting to get the Accessibility geocoin but not knowing where to get it and I was given permission to forwar the newsletter I received to anyone who is interested. So if you are interested in purchasing this coin please contact me through our profile and I will forward the email where you can sign up for the newsletter and get the coin. There are still LE Nickel versions available. Nochipra
  5. If anyone purchasing this coin intends to release it into the wild I would be very interested in watching it's travels especially if you are outside the U.S. I love watching and seeing coins travel around. I have not released too many myself for fear of them being stolen but I do intend to release a few of these coins around. If your willing to let me put your new Accessibility coin on my watch list please either post the link here or send me a message through my profile with the link. Thanks. Nora
  6. Ok, here is the deal. We will be giving away one of our LE Nickel Accessibility coins and Nickel pin to the cache owner who gets the most votes. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE ENTERING. THANKS. Here is a pic of the coin on the left and you will get a matching pin with it. The rules are: 1. You can only vote for 5 caches and ONLY 5, so pick the top 5 that you believe are the most accessible whether it is your own or someone elses that you have actually been to. Your found it post must be on the cache logs with your geoname. 2. List the name of the cache and the GC # for that cache. 3. Is the wheelchair attribute on the cache page? It must be there to qualify!!! 4. Does the cache page have a link to the handicaching web page? Not a requirement but more consideration will be given to those that are. 5. Tell me why you liked the cache briefly and think it would be a good accessible cache. Do not be too specific as to give anything away though. Just something like "I think it would be good for a wheelchair user because it's low and reachable." or "The terrain is completely paved and easy to get to." 6. Editing will be allowed so you can research the 5 you like the best. 7. ONLY 1 POST PER GEONAME incuding all 5 of your choices. 8. The Cache Name / GC# with the most votes wins! 9. Contest ends April 19, 2008 at 8PM EST Here is what I'm looking for: 1. Name of cache: 2. GC#: 3. Is there a wheelchair attribute on the page? Yes or No (Must be there to qualify) 4. Is there a link to handicaching.com on the cache page? Yes or No (not required but recommended) 5. Tell me why you think the cache is accessible and why you like it? Good Luck and Thank For Participating
  7. Congrats Wendy!!! We are all proud of you! I'm sending you a email through your profile for something special for you and Ceasar.
  8. Thanks for the title change and Thank You everyone for all the great positive comments about this coin so far, it really is special to us.
  9. THE ACCESSIBILITY GEOCOIN IS NOW AVAILABLE!!! Geoswag has now began sales of our Accessibility coins and pins on their "secret" web page. If you get their newsletter then you should already have a link to be able to get them. I don't want to comprimise their site by posting it here but you can sign up for their newsletter to get them. There are a total of 3 versions gold, LE nickel, and our LE Artist Editions copper version (only 25 copper coins and 15 copper pins). They have the gold and nickel version and Chip and I have the copper of which we are only selling a few on ebay to help pay for the regular and LE versions we had to purchase and the rest will be saved to help special charitable events. We have just a very few LE nickel and gold coins and pins available for special trades. If these sell out then we were told new metals will be done if a remint is required. Chip and I designed this coin to help promote awareness that people with disabilities and some minor health problems enjoy geocaching too and how important it is to create some accessible caches. I (Nora) am a wheelchair user who was born with spina bifida and Chip has diabetes which has made him legally blind, with poor circulation and he has had a kidney transplant, so we tried depict the types of problems many geocachers face on this coin with a wheelchair symbol, the crutches and cane symbol, the hand sign of G for geocaching for the deaf, and the glasses for those with very poor vision and the back of the coin has a special braille message you can interpret representing those who are blind. This coin has very special meaning for both of us and we hope it will for you too if you yourself or someone you know has some some form of physical limitation that makes geocaching a little more difficult but not impossible. Thanks for checking it out
  10. I just saw that these were for sale so I had to pick up a few, great design:)
  11. Are all the geocoin places letting everyone create these new items like geocoins if they like the idea or only certain places?

    Geo Lingo

As far as the lingo goes I think it is meant to be an handicapped accessible cache. There is a web site that helps rate caches for the disabled. Here is the link http://www.handicaching.com/news.php
  13. Hi, I tried sending an email to handicaching and it got bounced back to me. In their contact information it says to send the email without the date but I'm not sure how to do that since I don't see a place for the date when creating a new message to email? It is regarding helping them raise money for their web site with our new Accessibility geocoin. If someone from that site could contact me or if someone knows how I can get in touch with them please let me know. Thanks Nochipra
  14. Wow! Very cool idea, I've gotta get some of these. I'm glad to know the rule has changed too, I'll have to put on my thinking cap for something new:)
  15. Yeah! I'm glad this one is being done I can't wait to get one now since I've been reading the genealogy report my uncle did in college on my father's side of the family. I found out that we are Scotch Irish (The Scottish that lived in Ireland in the 1600 and 1700's) and then moved from Ireland to the U.S. in the 1700's. From what I can find out we are from the Davidson clan in Scotland so I am definitely interested:) EDIT: Hey Paula have you ever considered doing coins with the crests of the Scottish clans? They might go over pretty good? There were quite a few according to my research? If not all the clans then I might be interested in getting you to help me with a Davidson clan coin for me?
  16. Saturday Yea!!!! We got our Accessibility Geocoins in!!! They look great! They are in gold, nickel and LE Artist Copper (only 25 made) with pins made in each metal too (only 15 copper pins were made). I will be selling only a few of the copper versions on ebay and the rest will be for charitable contributions so look for your chance to get the LE versions on ebay. Here are some pics
  17. First of all, thank you for taking the time to ask about the accessibility of your cache. It is always nice to see someone who takes us wheelchair users into consideration. When I look for caches the first thing I do look for is the wheelchair attribute but I do not think it really needs to be something that the person placing the cache should fret over too much. The best thing you could do is put the attribute on the page and say to your best judgement if you think a wheelchair person could reach it or not. The actual description is really what tells that wheelchair individual whether they can get it or not. If you have doubts about certain inclines or reachability for wheelchair users, say that in the description by giving a general idea how big the incline might be, or how long an arm reach it might require, etc. I believe you can do this without giving too much away and taking away from the difficulty of the hide. There are all kinds of people in this world with all kinds of abilities and disabilities and all you can do is describe the cache to the best of your ability and it really is up to the person to decide if they want to try it or not based on the description.
  18. Thanks for posting, they are adorable! I can't wait til we get ours
  19. Wow! Very nice!!! Can't wait to get some:)
