  1. If you go to the bottom of the The Midwest forums page where it list all the topics for the mid-west forum, you will see an option as to what order you want "look at first post, last post or several other options". Hope this helps....
  2. I am little slow on response but I would like to congratulate Daggy on a very challenging cache completion. It is very difficult for anyone to complete this type of cache. Way to go Daggy.
  3. These are all quick P&G's right off the exit in Corydon Indiana Golf Shores GCXQBF The Barrel Cache GC11R5W Corydon P&G 1 GC11R5Y This one is at the first rest area on I64 in Indiana. Kentuckiana Kache GCNDX0
  4. We had heard of the ever elusive Phantom Cacher in the past. We have even searched for his coin in the past only to be spoiled by cacher’s that were up and at it quicker than we were. We noticed on the evening of November 17th that there was something going on when the Phantom Cacher posted a log on one of our other caches saying he was spending the night there with an Indian couple. As we have another cache in a pioneer cemetery that has a history of an Indian couple with child that perishes. We watched very closely the activities surrounding this. On November 18th we noticed that the Phantom Cacher had an epic battle with the MARs only to be saved by the great Oak Ents. The cache is Byrneville Pioneer Cemetery (GCK50R). A coin had somehow been taken in the scuffle that ensued. We were up and out before sunlight on November 19th in search of the elusive coin. As the dawn broke Sparhawk found the coin nestled in the beard of the Oak Ent. The scene of retrieval was surreal as he was standing on the bluff covered with moss with a 40 foot drop down into the Indian Creek. He had searched this area once but it took the dawn of the day for the coin to be realized. It was well worth the adventure to have one of these great treasures within the Geocaching community and the Phantom Cacher is thanked immensely for the adventure that he creates. It is a very cool looking coin.
  5. We will be on site 31 along with Lil Al and SherpaRon.
  6. We wouldn't want to miss such a great event. Vacation has been requested. Camping reservations have been made. We will be on site 31. Looking forward to another great event. Can't wait to see everyone there.
  7. Congrats are certainly in order for one of the legends of geocaching in our area. SHOW ME THE CACHE has hit 10,000 finds. Congrats, and good luck on the next 10,000. Thanks for all you have done for the caching community!!!!!!!
  8. Interesting topic. Sparhawk is a nurse at the VA hospital at this time. Retired military medic, been an CNA, EMT, LPN and now a RN. Sparslady is a CMA.
  9. The River Walk 1 in Indiana was missing, but now it has been replaced, and the page works just fine. I just looked at it, and it is logable I don't know why it would have said it was closed, are you sure you were on the right page and not the page for the one in Texas?
  10. Received our gift today. That was an extremely nice gesture. It is nice to see that people honor the veterens. With my 22+ years on active duty and reserves you get a variety of attitude towards the military, but I have a different perspective as I am also a nurse for the Veteran's Administration. This is a gift that I will treasure. I don't own very many coins but I do have a few that have sentimental value and this one will be placed at the top of that list.
  11. Very thoughtful thing to do. Thank you for honoring those that have and still serve. I have requested retirement this year which is coming up on 22 years total active and reserve time. E-mail sent. Forget to say "B' but doesn't matter either way.
  12. Sparhawk and Sparslady will be on Site 22 in the Buffalo Ridge Section for the Fall Picnic. Can't wait for the get together. See everyone there.
  13. We would like to thank Cach-U-Nuts for such a great game. We really enjoyed doing the different caches which made the game very interesting. The puzzle really had us questioning what it was going to be and we were thoroughly surprise at our ability to decrypt it so easily after looking at the possibilities while waiting to log the last couple of caches. Wish there were more games around that made you do a little bit of extra work using the mind as well as the body. Also, congratulations to all that participated and good luck in your quest wherever it shall lead you. Thank You.
  14. I would like to be involved in this group also. Order of preference makes no difference to me as I started in the Navy as a corpsmen stationed with the Marines and now a days I am in the Army reserves. With 20 years plus service I figure a branch is a branch as long as you have served. Today as a civilian I work for the Veteran's Administration Hospitals as a nurse and all who have served have given.
  15. We would like to try our hand at the game please.
  16. I would like to be added, I am 20 plus year army vet and still going strong. Thanks.
  17. Just for anyones info, The event was in Southern Indiana, not Kentucky. But all of us in Southern Indiana, and the Louisville area cacher's call this the INKY area.
  18. Hi John here from Georgetown, Indiana. Sparhawk is comprised of me, my wife, and the non-caching, kicking, and screaming all the way teenage daughter. Some people call it a sport, some people call it a hobby, but let's be for real it is an addiction. Good Luck Hunting and hope to see ya on the trail someday.
  19. I have no clue as to where you could pitch a tent for free, but at this State Forest the have a section called Stage Stop which has primitive camping which is fairly inexpensive. It is about less than an hour from Louisville to the forestry. I would have to say that the greatest park that I know of in Indiana is Wyandotte Woods State Forestry which is in Harrison/Crawford County. There are 26,000 acres in this park with 40 miles of hiking trails and 87 miles of horse trails. At the present time there are 40 caches located in this area. Today alone I found 13 caches in roughly 13 hours of hiking 17 miles in the park. This has got to be one if not the greatest areas for geocachers in the area. You can find more information about the park here: http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/index.html?...s/harcraw.htm&2. There are some micros in this park but there are a ton of great trail caches to do. There are quite a few caches in the Hoosier National Forest also but you have to realize that the forest runs through good portion of southern Indiana. Either way have a great time caching and good luck with the hunt.

  21. I have never had a problem with the speed that a cache gets posted. Mountain Climber deserves alot of praise for what he does. He approved three cache's for me tonight in about 45 minutes. I think that all of the people who help with this site are very deligent and thoughtful with what they do. They all deserve a big hand for what they do for us. My opinion. Thank you one and all approvers.
  22. I think the best container for a micro is a waterproof match container. They are water proof and the lids don't just pop off, they have to be unscrewed. The ones we use are green, so they blend in better for a better hide.
  23. This is a very interesting topic. We are fairly new to the geocaching community, so it is hard to say what is right or wrong. I think that the appropriate response would be that if you like doing it and it fits within the rules of the game than do it. If you don’t like doing it, then don’t, and why worry about what others are doing. People that want to pad their finds will find a way regardless what anyone does. We have done most of the different types of caches available. We have done extremely tough and difficult traditional cache’s. And we have done extremely easy and simply traditional cache’s. By the same token we have done tough and easy LC’s. I believe that if you do it properly and you are meeting the requirements of the cache than there shouldn’t be a problem. LC’s make you take a look at things around you or historical places that you normally overlook. But if you find them and make a proper entry than it enhances the experience for all involved. Different they are as are all of us. Do what you like and don’t worry about everyone else. IT IS A GAME. For the enjoyment of all.
  24. Got the avatar to work. But I have another question. Why does my name say tadpole?
