Ho about on the compass page an option to let you see the degree of which you're pointing instead of it just saying SW or such.

I just wished I could upload the tracks from my Vista. I thought I was getting a "more machine" when I upgraded. Guess not. I had to simplify them but going from over 1600 points to 500 pretty much makes them look slim

I finally loaded City Select 5.0 onto my laptop today, it also has the latest MapSource version too. I figured I'd do some caching using the tracking. So after installing the USB drivers I was able to download waypoint and track into MapSource. But if I open MapSource and select start tracking, it doesn't find the GPS and it disable the upload and download icon on the top menu bar making me have to restart MapSource. I have the Garmin set to Garmin so I don't know why it won't find it for tracking.
Can someone help poor old me?

A few things I'd like to see them change. First is why is the cache ttitle when searching limited to 10 characters? It looks like it could hold at least 12. Secondly the "notes" window, it looks like it's at least three lines yet only 2 lines can be displayed. I would like to see this expanded to at least 3 lines or a scrolling window so we can hold more info there!
And fix the geocache search by name error with V3.20!

I just upgraded to V3.20 and I noticed that when I try and do a name search for a geocache that if I put in letter "D" it actually started about "H", if I put "S" in it starts at "W", serious glitch!

Yeah I thought about taking my laptop along on long day trips but I don't like the thought of leaving it in the truck alone.

Your problem shutting off is most likely the battery connectors. Just pull then out a bit so they make better contact with the batteries.

Track and track logs.
Yesterday I did a 10hr caching marathon, about 9hrs into it I decided to check my track log to see how full it was, 99%. So I quickly saved it and cleared the log so it could continue. I have the GPS set to save 10,000 track points. So today I download the data to MapSource, the gpsbabel it and open it in QuakeMap. The first thign I noticed is that the GPS condensed the 10,000 track points to 500 track points, then it erased all evidence of date and time for each track point, this sucks!!!
Anyone else have any comments on track points or can help me with anything here?

Yeah I noticed the track log problem the other day when I cached for about 13hrs, I got home and noticed the first 2hrs of my trip were gone from the track logs, disappointing. Something I would like to see from Garmin is the ability that when a track log gets full that it automatically saves the log then start a new one. Garmin???

I really don't understand why Jeremy won't switch to a Linux or Unix platform, that would solve a lot of problems.

Some things here. each day I learn a bit more. Do you plan on making some of this more dummy proof? For example, when saving a file to MPS instead of having to use tags like %by or %smart=10, can you just make some drop down menues or "simple click" on options?
How about an option to select "new database" instead of "select database".
Something else I noticed is my "find" totals do not match GSAK (191/206), neither do my "hide" totals (65/67), any ideas why?
Is there any status on being able to use a serial connection with this IE: my Garmin 60CS, then I can bypass MPS completely!
That's it for now.
Edit: regarding new database, I meant a button instead of using the drop down menu.

When I get ready to upload caches to my GPS I use GSAK and do a filter then save it into MPS format then open it in MapSource for upload. What's buggin the hell out of me though is it's limiting the name of the caches to 8 letter no matter what I do. It looks like I should be able to do 10 or more, but I can't figure it out.
Any help?

It just must be a westcoast things, all the caches out here are clogging up the system on our end! LOL

Well since all other threads relating to the gc.com website frustrations have been closed here's a new one to close.
I'm a premium member so I guess I have a little say in the website. The website being great as it is is terrible regarding the server it's on. Nothing but errors constantly, slower than a turtle with me standing on it. What's up with the site?
Sure I read the thread about new servers up as of 9:45pm PST last night, well that hasn't helped. I know I'm by far not the only one frustrated with this website since December.
The frustration leel keeps growing, not decreasing. I feel real bad for anyone that's on a 56k line!
So Jeremy if you feel like locking this thread as a means of censorship do for it, or let people discuss it and give us some real answers, please.

I just did a bunch opf pocket queries to update all my caches, my finds and every other cache. But when I opened them in GSAK it shows the all as mystery/puzzle caches with the "?". How can this be fixed?
It's also not showing any green or red square in the recent find/not find sqaure. But it is showing the correct colors under code for my finds, hides and archived caches

OK I was able to get the tags I wanted, saved it to a MPS file, opened it in MapSource and the description lists everything I want it too, not much really. But when i load it to my Garmin 60CS I don't get all of the info in the "note" column. Ideas?

How come I currently don't see the "terrain/difficulty" in the notes section If it's a default? I guess I need to play around a bit.
Caches Along A Route With Streets And Trips

Can someone just give me the simple command line to change a GPX file into a Streets and Trips file so I can have my waypoints show up in S&T. My file name is bigbear.gpx and is in the same directory and the gpsbabel.exe directory.
