I do check past logs for parking co-ords and to see if there are any updated co-ords for the caches. If I don't know the area I will look on google maps to see if there is any parking close by.

I have the 'open' access point set to FON_Geocaching. Are you saying you have set the 'private' Access point to geocacher/geocacher, or have you set up a guest (friends/family) account on the FON access point ?
