  1. Do you need the Earthmate GPS software to run a Legend with Street Atlas 2003 from DeLORME? Or, is there ETrex specific software that you need? I am trying to understand these permutations of "unit-to-laptop-[which]software". I want to avoid buying cables/GPS software/map-paks that I don't need or will be less than satisfied with.
  2. So, the cable that came in the box is all I need? It is a serial to "Garmin" proprietary. Is there a FAQ set up anywhere that talks about the basics?
  3. What things exactly do I need to use my Legend with a laptop that I might purchase? Can it do real-time GPS-ing displayed on the laptop screen? Or can you only DL maps and waypoints to the GPS unit? I seems like it would be fun to navigate and know what's along the way. I am really new to this and have really only figured out getting to a cache so far.
  4. No. But this was generally the idea I was looking for....Thanks The one I found first you could zoom in quite close on a cache and see some of the adjoining roads to nav there. Sort of like it was done on a MapQuest layout.... Anyway, it looks like Bux's will do the trick. 'preciate it
  5. Oh, Great Master LLamas- Did these mystic maps exist in the far distant past as recently as a couple of weeks ago? The ones that I find now are only the outsource maps on the individual cache pages[Topomap/Mapquest links] Iam I missing the pages that have the little flags and let you zoom or identify caches?
  6. When I first found this page only a couple of weeks ago, my first cache-query returned a page where caches were depicted on an area map. This seems to be a better way of identifying those that I might pass and want to search out. Is this what the "maps-beta"announcement is about? I thought that I didn't even get here before it was posted and still found maps available. Where are they or when will they show up again?
