  1. I'm new to using geocoins and was thinking of buying some and ebay was the first thing I thought of but I'm not sure what I need to make sure they have .....should it state that an activation code is included or is that something I can find on another site after I get them
  2. my wife and I where covered in ticks today in the woods searching for a cache , we managed to flick them all off before they bite us except me I found one on my hip when I got in the shower. It couldn't have been on more than a hour or two. So how much risk does that give me?
  3. I recieved a nuvi 200 and thats what I first started geocaching with it and I had some pretty good results most of the time. Some times not so good but I recently bought the garmin 60Csx and I almost felt like I was cheating it was such a drastic difference. Living in a city I really need the street maps to help me get me the closest before I get out of the truck so Im using both together until I get the street navigator for the hand held ...Im just waiting until the 2009 maps are released
  4. Someone had the same experience with REI. It must becoming more common. the customer service guy that exchanged my unit said they have alot of people buy them and return them after a planned trip taking advantage of their 30 day return policy to use it for free for a while. Like people that buy clothes and leave the tags on to wear and return later
  5. I searched the forums to gather advice before I bought my 60Csx and most everything I read said that the 60 and vista where equally sensitive ....well all I know is that the vista could not get a signal in the store and the 60 had no problem with a good connection in the store so I went with the 60
  6. It's why I download every Garmin mapping products!! I love their GPS, but I don't want to buy their EXPENSIVE maps!! where do you download them from?
  7. NT, according to Garmin is the "New Technology" way of compressing the map data. But beware that the NT maps are only compatible with the more recent GPS units that support NT. The non-NT maps are to be used with older GPS units. The compression method used is different (the non-NT maps take up roughly twice the space as the NT maps) and the map segments are divided into smaller chunks. Thankx.. I just bought the Csx60 a couple of days ago so I'm sure they should be fine. I saw a 8 gig micro sd card for $44 and thought about getting tht and then I should be able to add the topo map and anything else I'd like later
  8. CN NT fits on a 1GB card. The non-NT version needs a 2GB card in order to fit the entire thing. I,m not sure I've seen a non-NT version....whats the difference?
  9. pheww.... I was just looking to buy the city navigator north america. If I get the maps on dvd then I can use it on the computer as well right? So what size card to I need to get to load it on?
  10. yeah your right im a newbie and i guess maybe i was wrong to ask but i figured that people come to my area from all over the place all the time and if anyone was going to be in the area i let them know which cache it was in to take it with them...but what ever im new. ive been into this for all of 6 days now and thanks for pointing it out ...(and people think americans are rude)
  11. I went to the bass pro shop and they would price match me on the 60Csx down to 299.99 which is their cost. walmart was 280 but I figured that was good enough not to wait for it in the mail. Unfortunately it turns out they gave me a returned unit that was already bought and returned and I was unable to register it with garmin. but they offered to swap it out... a minor inconvience but still quicker than ordering online
  12. If anybody will be in the us particularly virginia i'm trying to help this bug make it to europe
  13. I have been looking at buying either a vista HCX or the 60CSx and most places I have looked have comparable prices but they are both on walmarts website and available to order for way less. the vista is $228.88 and the 60 is only $280.00 but best buy and basspro shop is $299 and $399. so if any one is in the market i would try wally world.
  14. I think i will get the vista or the 60 but i cant decide which one is really better
  15. my plan was to get just one (cause it will be hard enough to get my wife on board with the first one) but you have a very good point maybe I should get one now and then get another one later this summer and I could tell my wife it's co we both have one to go caching.and don't get me wrong I don't have a ton of money to blow but if i get ONE I'll spend what it takes to get what i want
  16. I recently recieved a garmin nuvi 200 for my birthday and from the garmin website i was discovered the fun of geocaching. I know that my gps is definitely not the best thing for the job but I have been having so much fun this week that im considering getting another unit for geocaching. I have been reading all these threads trying to get a handle on whats my best bet. I think the 300 looks impressive but have heard alot of complaints. So my question is if money is not in question to buy one unit whats my best bet get a proven unit or the 300 now or wait until the 300 gets its self straight?
