  1. Here's a bookmark list of the caches. You can create a pocket query from the bookmark and preview it in the gc.com google maps or google earth. I hope you enjoy the trail.
  2. If it's just to claim the FTF prize, I would think it's ok.
  3. I just tried a search on that zip code and your cache showed up. It's 9th on the list, 3.6 miles to the Southeast. Not sure why it didn't show up for you.
  4. Try changing the speed when the electronic compass kicks in. Menu>Menu>Setup>Heading. It defaults to 10 mph I believe. Change it to something like 1 mph for 5 seconds. This has fixed similar problems for several cachers I know.
  5. Actually, that number is only for the users who have ever visited the forums. The OP is user number 2.897,328. The total could be over 3 million by now. As to how many of those are active, I'd bet a whole lot less.
  6. Off-Topic is only available to Premium Members. There are other sections that are available only when you are logged in.
  7. Many of the guidelines on this site are fairly general. A lot of the specific rules you hear about (clear containers, no ammo cans, within 50' of a trail) are put in place by the local authorities like the parks department.
  8. Try changing the speed when the electronic compass kicks in. Menu>Menu>Setup>Heading. It defaults to 10 mph I believe. Change it to something like 1 mph for 5 seconds. This has solved similar problems for other caches I know.
  9. The waypoints are there. When you search for waypoints, your gps will only show you the 50 nearest to your current location. If you search by name or scroll the map, you'll be able to see them.
  10. The location doesn't have to be exact. You can enter a zip code and that should be close enough. If you want the location closer, you can drag the marker to where you want it.
  11. The waypoints are on the gps. When you search for waypoints, your gps only shows the 50 nearest to your location. You can search by name and you'll see them all.
  12. To use the paperless features of the Dakota, you need to be a Premium Member and get .gpx files from a Pocket Query or directly from the cache page. As a non-premium member, you can only get .loc files which don't contain all the data that the Dakota can use.
  13. The 'Send to GPS' is designed to only work with USB gps'. Some people have gotten it to work with serial cables, but it's not supported by Garmin. If you keep trying, it might work on occasion, but could stop at any time.
  14. With so few caches in the country, there's no need to increase the distance. I just set up a test query. I selected India as the country and did NOT pick an origin point. I got 81 caches spread all over the country.
  15. Did you try to go to the sign-up page while you were logged in? If you're already a member, I believe it takes you to the page for premium membership. If you don't have an account or aren't logged in it should take you to the correct page.
  16. I run several queries similar to yours and have no problems. I wouldn't think hiding new caches after the query was created would matter. Have you tried copying the query or creating a new one with the same criteria?
  17. Hi Snurt, If you are going to pay by credit card or paypal, you can go to this page: https://www.geocaching.com/Membership/premium.aspx My understanding is it add a year to your current expiration date. Or you can write to contact@geocaching.com if you have any questions.
  18. I wonder if Roddy is happy now. He made it to 100 posts in this thread.
  19. Yeah, I do and everybody was happier than a pig you know where. I don't recall Groundspeak ever saying you couldn't create an off-line database. But they don't want you to and won't support you doing it.
  20. If you ran a PQ yesterday and then try to it today, it won't run for a while. The most recently run PQs go to the back of the line. When you run a brand new PQ or one that hasn't run in a while, you should get it right away. The 'Add to Queue' button is for your 'My Finds' query, it can only be run once a week.
  21. I don't think you would get any useful information from something like this. A lot of people would click the button to find out where the cache really is. Once they found out, they may or may not actually search for the cache depending on where it is.
  22. I don't know what the problem is, but my suggestion would be to stop using the "Send to GPS" button. Since you're a Premium Member, just click on the "GPX eXchange File" button and save the file in the garmin/gpx folder on your gps. You'll get the same info on you gps. No extra software needed.
  23. The Montgomery County Parks Dept just put these guidelines into effect this past summer. I haven't heard anything about the older caches needing to be changed to meet the new guidelines.
  24. I just clicked the link in Nate's post and saw the same thing as SterlingConnie, "Top 40 Countdown" by SherwoodForest. The list of caches looks to be correct.
