  1. DavidMac logged the cache several days ago and took the subway to the Rockville station and walked the rest of the way. I don’t know if any of the buses go near the park, but I’ll check and get back to you
  2. One thing to always check is the size of the container. It is listed on the top right side of the cache page. GCG4M4 is listed as a mirco cache, which is much smaller than an ammo can. It's probably about the size of a film cannister. Like others said you might want to read the previous logs to see if they contain any hints. Good luck
  3. I just got that case from The GPS Store a couple days ago and like it a lot. It does not have a built in belt clip. It has a hole in the back where you can screw in the pin and use the belt clip that came with the gps.
  4. Contratulations!! I hope you're enjoying caching in your new hometown.
  5. Congrats! I hope to meet you this weekend.
  6. Way to go Ski. Hope to see you again sometime.
  7. Glad I was there with you, Robert. Congratulations.
  8. Have you tried changing the output on the GPS? G7toCE will not work with the GPS set to NMEA, which is what Mapopolis uses. I own a Garmin so don’t know about changing the setting on a Magellan, but on my 76s it’s just called Garmin. G7toCE also has to be set to the brand of GPS, that setting is under file->configuration.
  9. Hey, that's not fair. brdhunt works in the park. Oh well, I'll have to try and get over there this weekend.
  10. I worked with Playtime when they were in MD doing a geo-teaming event for a government contractor. They use local geocachers as Geotechs. We were there to provide technical support to the team members for the GPS units, digital cameras and palmpilots. There were 6 people on each team plus the geotech. There were temporary caches set up with a time limit. The teams were competing against each other, but also had to work with one another. Each cache was worth a certain number of points and the team with the most points won a prize. If enough of the caches were found (there were more caches than teams) the whole group got a bonus. At the beginning, quite a few of the people seemed hesitant. It was raining and very few people, other than the geotechs, were prepared to be outside. Playtime did run out and buy disposable ponchos for everybody. At the end everybody had a good time despite the weather and several people were interested in trying Geocaching for real. Feel free to email me if you want any more info. Vice President, Maryland Geocaching Society
  11. The same thing happened to me a while back. I found one way that worked reasonably well. Search for caches you found by putting your name in the ‘caches found by username’ box. The search results will show archived and disabled caches. Put a check mark on all the caches and d/l and save on your computer. Do this with the rest of the pages using a different file name for each page. If you use EasyGPS, you can open all the files at the same time in different windows. To combine the files, highlight all the caches in one window and drag them to the first window. You can then save the file with all your found caches in spot. It's pretty easy to keep up with after you've done this. Hope this helps. Vice President, Maryland Geocaching Society
  12. Way to go man. Glad I was there to be part of it. Vice President, Maryland Geocaching Society
  13. Congratulations to all of you. It’s been a pleasure meeting you guys at several events this year. Vice President, Maryland Geocaching Society
  14. Thanks, and congrats to you, Crashmore. You reached 400 caches the same day as Lakemaster, but yours was a little more exciting, with the 400 ticks and all. Vice President, Maryland Geocaching Society
  15. A couple friends and I were questioned by the police last weekend. You can read about it here. They had never heard of Geocaching, so we explained how it works and showed them the cache. They were pretty cool with it, although they probably thought we were a little crazy.
  16. Thanks, it was great meeting all of you at the picnic, it was alot of fun.
  17. Congratulations on the 400 finds and the outstanding picnic. I had a great time and hope to see you all again.
  18. It's a different case than the ultimate case. You can find it on their website here towards the bottom of the page, model #BE200. Here is a picture. The only time my 76S comes out of the case is to change batteries or download waypoints from the PC.
  19. The GPS Store has a nice one, clear plastic on the front with a belt clip on the back. Look for the GPS unit and scroll down the page. Works great for me.
  20. I spent a day in Southern MD doing some of Last Lap Gang’s caches and several others and agree completely. It’s a beautiful area with some great parks for caching. Several of the caches are in areas you might never get to without Geocaching. As I was driving between the caches, I noticed quite a few parks and other areas that would be perfect for a cache. At some point I’ll head back that way to get some of the caches I didn’t visit. I’m sure the Eastern Shore is just as nice for caching, and I’ll be heading on over that way for a day or two to find some caches.
  21. I took my Etrex up in a hotair balloon last year and it worked great. The balloon didn't block the signal at all. I had just gotten the gps and didn't have any software at the time to do anything with the track log. The pilot was impressed when I could tell him exactly how fast we were flying and how far the landing was from the take off. When we said good-bye to the pilot, he started saying something about his wife buying him a gps for his birthday.
