  1. Don't keep your kids on a leash .... Would you have liked a tracking device on your huffy and your own vehicle once you turned 16?! Your parents able to see everything you did...... Taking away childhood / teenagers coming of age is just bogus...
  2. Thanks for everyones input, we are getting more great idea's and think were tracking closer to culprits location and who he REALLY is.....
  3. I suspect a group of college kids in Wisconsin, who for some reason, can't even take the time to respond to GeoCachers pleas to check their missing cache......missing cache.......missing cache!!! Have a great day, Truckdweller...."a short haul truck driver in the midwest" Truckdweller, From evidence we have gathered from others, we think we have an idea of where this person lives, and his occupation, despite for some reason you taking offense to it because your a truck driver! Take the pine cone out of your rear end, you act as if were attacking your 'profession' . It's been declared already, our team is a busy one and cannot afford the time to geocaching we'd like. So if you want to attack us because we have only 30 finds, go ahead. We've been geocaching, and around the hobby for three and a half years now. This post goes to Truckdweller, since he feels his profession has been attacked and he's been insulted. It is from the 'Midwest' forum posted by Team CDCB, i think it sums it all up very well. Team CDCB: Everything you just said makes a lot of sense and seems to indicate that it probably isn't a short haul driver. But I don't get the part about being insulted. The OP didn't say that your husband did it. Nor did s/he say or imply that "Short Haul Drivers are nevarious folk, and therefore it makes sense that one of those dispicable people probably did it..." The OP made what initially to me seemed like a logical guess based on the pattern of stolen caches. The new "evidence" that you presented was a pretty arguement against that being the case. But again, why the insult? Was it just because he mentioned that the moron doing this might be a short haul driver? If that's your logic that you've just insulted all the college kids (as well as adults returning to school) across the entire country. -------------------- Signed... 4. I thank you for your input everyone. Myself and my team are making it a personal mission to track this guy down ..... To answer one question that stuck out in my head..... The serial muggler left the demands in his note to make contact with the owners of the cache..... We just received 2 new reports today from IL numbering #120 & #118 I know you all think this will make it worse, and I would agree with you if some idiot stole 5 or 10 of these caches. But 120 is someone who will not go away nor get bored. Also.... He has taken caches that were long established and visited frequently, in very scenic areas, including two of which were caches of the month in the state of Wisconsin. I value anymore input....
  5. Just how widespread is the problem? Here is what we have gotten reported.... Notice the pattern of caches along major interstate highways. A typical short haul driver in the midwest drives these highways on a daily basis. There is also a pattern showing a high concentration of muggles within 10 miles of large truck/rest stops. I know you think it sucks and it's no big deal, but going out caching wondering if you will find a cache, a note from this idiot, or nothing at all, really REALLY REALLLLLLLY sucks.
  6. It's a very cheesey thing to do. Don't give in to threats. The serial muggler could be anyone, including Captain Crunch. Posting a thread about it will only give them attention and make it worse. This has been going on for a year and a half... don't you think he would be bored by now? Don't you think after maybe 9 or 10, he'd give up since he hasn't really gotten much attention till now.... He's been around more then a year and has stolen over 100 caches.....
  7. Here is a little story some of you may be familar with.... Over the last 1 1/2 years, caches around Wisconsin have been disappearing! Now this really isn't out of place, espcially if the cache is not well hidden and is placed in a public area that is poorly chosen. But caches that have come up missing are anything from micro's to ammo cans, and even large tupperware type tub's. Why do we know it's just not a cowincidence?! At all locations where these caches have come up missing, a standard sized envelope was left in a freezer bag, inside a letter reads...... ---------------------------------------------------------------- YOU HAVE BEEN MUGGLED TheMuggler #0014 ------------------------------------------------------------------ - A particular hard hit area has been the Green Bay, WI area ... We believe the suspect muggler lives in this region ..... - We have had reports of 'TheMuggler' striking in Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa and seen his numbers via his notes spike to " #0104 " 104 caches this person just steals and leaves a sort of note laughing at the geocaching community. - In 2 instances 'TheMuggler' has stated he would reinstate 2 particular popular caches set by two VERY ACTIVE geocachers if the cachers deleted their GC profile and made a new one , erasing their finds and hides from GC.com - We believe the serial muggler is possibly a short haul truck driver in the midwest, hitting numerous caches on his routes. There is pattern showing lots of hits along major and minor interstates and highway's. But don't get me wrong, he has struck small towns deep within the woods as well. -------------------------- If you have any information reguarding this serial muggler please forward it to use for database tracking purposes and evidence collection. <moderator edit>

  9. What is the most interesting, clever, compelling cache you've seen as far, hiding spots, ways to find the cache ( please no 2 page long hard puzzles, but small ones okay ).... any cache you'd say was interesting and one of the better you've visited ! Team Everest
  10. We had a guy in Wisconsin who went around to caches and stole the cache, container and all. Then left notes in place of the cache in plastic bags with envelopes and insdie it read ' You have been muggled '. It was signed by him at the bottom ' The Muggler ' and they were numbered! He cataloged how many he took!

  12. You can pick up GPS tracking units for about 250 bucks .. but then there goes your tracking unit and the muggler will keep it, destroy it, or just drop it on the ground and leave it, plus dont know if it'd pick up signal through an ammo can. I know those small units are better at acquiring signals then our personal GPSr's ... but I think it's unlikely... Haved toy'd with those tracking units, pretty neat stuff.
  13. George W. Bush = International Oil Muggler
  14. I informed the owner of the cache, no response yet. I am sure he will be upset to hear his ammo can has disappeared probably never to be heard from again.
  15. Yes some people are in it for the numbers. We dont care how many caches we have or dont have. We like challenging caches, and also tend to hide them more then find them. I could care less if a cacher has a 1000. Just means 950 of those he stopped by a rest stop logged a plastic container in about 30 seconds. TheMuggler left a ratty old glove proped with it's middle finger up, I don't think this is a side game.
  16. All potential suspects .... This cowards pen name is "TheMuggler" and actually left a letter in a envelope where the ammo can resided. With someone like this, with that amount of time on ones hands, I wouldn't be suprised to see him post up pics of the cache and TB's with a lilttle plastic army guy holding a gun demanding ransom to return the cache and it's contents...
  17. You can only hope so, usaully stuff like this is child's play , but I dont see 14 year olds walking with GPSr's. Hard to believe an adult is going around muggling
  18. Left my Garmin Etrex Vsita on the roof of my car, didn't slide offf till I was going 45 mph and it smashed the concrete. Slammed on the breaks and grabbed it...few scraps, still works like a charm!
  19. I can see Groundspeak stepping in ...but... Is this against the law to muggle a cache? Could this ******* be punished for doing this or are the caches we place up for grabs if someone were to take it since it's on public land?
  20. I don't believe so by looking at the logs .
  21. They swiped a real nice cache, that was an ammo can stock full of great stuff. I would be upset it someone was swiping ammo cans.... at what 3-5 bucks a pop?
