All the tracking codes for GC.com are provided by Groundspeak. I think anyone is able to buy them (I might be wrong on this) but there is a minimum order of 50 to purchase. So buying just one wouldn't work. I am not sure if a vendor would sell you just one. But the code wouldn't come with a unique icon, just generic. Icons are $150.. or almost 7 cents a pixel.

Andrew, Those two versions will be back in stock April 22nd. How many do you need? I should have safety stock sitting around for now (5 pcs? of each), just in case. TMA Are these back in yet?

There was a twitter sign a month ago then nothing. Does anyone know when these are for sale.

Wish I could go, but I am having my Jedi Training that day. Have fun!

Cool.

I checked and I had none of those. Sorry.

Yes I know about those two coins. I was curious if there are different editions of the Greenman coin from 2002. I know they are all numbered, but is 1 through 500 any different than 501-2000 etc.

I had to dig deep through my email: Shiny gold + nickel wings = event version Shiny gold + antique? gold (can't tell exactly) wings = geoswag coin club May Shiny gold + black nickel wings = geoswag.com Black nickel + shiny gold wings = geoswag.com Here's the mint artwork:

I concur with all of this. I hate it when a vendor sells a coin without an icon or puts stipulations on 'so many must be sold to get a custom icon.' It's like icon robbery!

Nice! I like the Tropical and Midnight best.

Haha, I can't wait. After that we should move into other Holiday Versions Haloween, July 4th, Christmas, etc That might be a little much. Cinco de Mayo is May 5th.

I read your post and it first it bothered me but I gave it some time so I wouldn't rant at your rant and not provide any information. First let me say I appreciate the kind help and generousity you give people who host Geocoinfest and the geocoin community as a whole. GCF is a huge responsibility and undertaking which I am sure all the people who have stepped forward and hosted one can attest to. I so much so that three people have flat out told me they never would to do it again. Insurance, security, A/V, reservations, merchandise, vending, permits, fire-codes, volunteers and a myriad of other things to consider. Geocoinfest was born from an idea I had back in 2006 for an event to bring vendors, coiners and people curious in geocoins together. It almost faltered before it started with an over zealous reviewer tried to take the focus off coins and wanted to charge entry fees of $600 a person! After Cornerstone4 volunteered to host the location, I continued it's legacy by default since everyone else took three steps back. I made it a priority to have as many qualified people as possible (previous hosts) who were not vendors (conflict of interest) evaluate locations and bids. Each year members of the hosting committee are asked to help pick future locations. Many people were sad they couldn't attend such an exotic location as Temecula Valley, so local multi-events were decided upon. There are currently 11 people who do so (sad to say one person died, two declined and three are no longer interested in coins). So by making a broad acusation that the group doesn't seriously consider all the bids is a mistake: We look at things closely and carefully. These accusations at the very least are unfair. Six other commitee members (including myself) have actually posted in the thread and said positive things about holding a Big Sky event. Does that mean "yes, let's go" --- no it doesn't. But it also doesn't mean it wouldn't be taken seriously. This thread was created to guage interest, then dropped off as the OP took an 8 month hiatus. Then wonders why things have moved forward in your absence. Which I will address why lower in the post. This isn't a vanity project, it's a year long commitment to put together a huge event. The commitee make the decisions because they care about geocoins, the hobby and coiners. I am passionate about keeping the event a Mega and holding a great event each year, if that's wrong then I guess I shouldn't run events. Another aspect of these events is how fun they are to attend, sucking the fun out of them... well, I'm not interested. The GCF committee members have taken all the bids very seriously going so far as to call airports to see when renovations would be finished in time etc. And to pick a destination that has a wide appeal to most geocoin collectors. I take no fun telling someone that their bid was not picked. Last year we received two bids. One from a non-coiner who was willing to learn and one from a vendor which is a direct conflict of interest, which other vendors are so quick to point out each time it happens. So the location options were limited. I think 2011 will be a great event. In the absence of any genuine interest I decided to start a preliminary task of researching cities and locations which will have a wide appeal for next year. I broached the subject with a few of the comittee members to gauge the reactions. When I was ready, I wanted to present my ideas to the forums for further discussion (seems I was pre-empted on this). I am also working on a locational website, which also isn't ready. I would like to reduce the costs to vendors and host a quality event for attendees (many of whom are not coin people) and have a good time. And yes, I've planned a bunch of events so I'd like to think I've done my part and earned my stipes as far as running events effciently and GCF goes. I am moving on from this. There is no conspiracy, no monopoly (I haven't made a dime from Geocoinfest events). I am not one much for politics, but rather to just have a good time. I appreciate your emotional candor but I do think that you dimissed things at first glance. For me Helena is 11 hours away... which would be hell with a 3 year old in the car (not to mention 1000 miles and $160 in gas)! I think I will fly. If you would like to host an event, I think it's a great idea. I think you would be a warm and fantastic host and I would love to attend. Maybe even donate a few coins for the cause. There aren't enough coin events as it is. I am sorry if you feel the way you do and you said the things you said. You say you were being honest and so am I. Mostest respectfully, Mark Avroair Edited for bad grammar

Wow, you've been busy with all these new coins Some very cool designs! Thanks. A few were half finished, others were ideas I was working on and others were finished and not submitted so not as much work as one would think.

New coins on the drawing board materials disscussion
avroair replied to plumbrokeacres's topic in Trackables
I am not a fan of zinc, I think it makes the coins lighter and in a sense cheaper. There are a few cases where zinc is needed like sun catcher coins but on the whole I don't like em. In answer to your question, I prefer bronze at $10 -
Any word on this coin. I think it's really cool. Did I miss the sale?
-
Is there a thread on handmade trackable coins anywhere?
-
Any idea when these two charity versions will be available?
-
I like the two-tone versions. Very cool.
-
Just a quick update since I was asked, these should be arriving in the next 2 weeks.

I believe Jon's coins were 001-200 for v1, not sure how they were registered in the database, but there were 200 of them minted. Edit to add, does anyone know if there are different versions of the Greenman or just different mintings of the same coin?
-
I bumped up a couple of them.
-
...just can't "bear" the wait..... Well I hope someone panda's to your needs.
-
I don't think it's too late to join the club and get it. I am not sure if extras will be available on geoswag. The AE is the version for my event.
-
Yes, when I am aware of the sale I will post in this thread. Most of the time I know beforehand but I have been surprised a couple of times.

I have an extra red glitter one, do you have that one?
