  1. A trackable coin to commemorate this event has been minted and will be sold at the event for $11 each. Because of the significance of the day, the coin features a red poppy associated with Veteran's Day. The coin colors are unique to the Michigan event.

It is entirely possible that that line was added after the event page was published. I am fairly certain that approvers do not get notification every time a cache page is edited.

Or they have a liberal approver.

Nope it wasn't added afterwards. I wrote the line as quoted except I didn't say trackable when first submitted for publication. I also put the artwork for the coin when originally submitted. Once I said trackable it was published and it hasn't been edited since......

Trackables items are allowed to be mentioned on an event page.. Non trackables are not.

  2. Thanks to Guido and his crew gcf eu cologne was a huge success. I attended the early meet and greet with no snow, vanelle, nielsenc dhenninger, mustangjoni, hedgehopper, lackeys Tom and Annie. And 500 others. Then got up at4am for a birthday and 5 country bus tour, again with the lackeys. Drove to the meet and greet, which was held in a concert hall. The main event was amazing, huge! Never seen so many caters and coiners in one place!

Huge, huge thank to the crew for putting it all on. See ya in Lisbon!

  3. I'm confused. The picture on geoswag's presale page looks like the artist edition, not Scheherazade. Which is which?

As I mentioned in the email.

    AE has red

    scheherazade has orange

They look quite different in person. The first coin in the thread (post #1) is the scheherazade version.

  4. I just noticed something on the art that's missing, but is shown on the coin - Do you see it? That's not final art you're showing is it? <grinning>

I have spotted it. There is actually 5 or 6 of them that are missing. And if you look close you'll notice that the ones that ARE there are in a different order.

I see it too :) I love the 'whats the difference games'

Yep. The artwork wasn't final, I added a couple of arctic terns and butterflies. :)

Edit to add, I also flipped the whale and redid it.

  5. The colors and metals have been picked for the four versions available at this time:

    Geoswag edition

Geoswag Coin and Pin club edition (September)

    Event edition

    Artist edition

There will probably be a version available for next Spring when all the animals are migrating back North (or South in the southern hemisphere).

  6. Thank you avroair for the cointest, it has been fascinating, and didn't envy you having to choose between the entries. Thanks too for asking people to not take photos from the internet, it did highlight something I for one needed a reminder about.

You are welcome. I did a random generator of all the correct answers, so it wasn't too hard. :P I feel that if you are going to win something then it's better to use license free photos or your own... otherwise you are winning off another person's work.

On a semi-unrelated note, presumably at some stage we all have to decide what these coins will sell for? I'm not sure how this will work, as once again, shipping the coins to NZ, and probably some other places outside the US, is very very expensive (about 5 times as much per coin as within the US, for the benefit of the US hosts). Or will it basically be up to each event host as to how much they sell their coins to the general populace?

    Cheers.

Well having hosted 2 of these events with version coins and being out of pocket $XXX last event. Shhhhh do not tell the wife. It is up to each event holder to decide what you need to charge to cover costs, as pointed out some have to pay a whole lot more for shipping + finish + glow or pearl and it goes on... $104 for shipping to Oz this year... seems reasonable and will be factored into the overall cost of coins and hosting.

Most likely the Perth Australia price (Tho not set in stone)will be $11 bucks, we think it sounds reasonable and is in line with the event theme :anicute:

Hmmm...I seem to recall the price being set the same for everyone participating in the previous events (except for the 888...which I remember setting our local price at $8.88...I thought it was cute, but ended up a making change nightmare).

I just noticed in the FAQ's that the host can set their own price.

That's correct. When we tried to set a price, the Europeans balked at 10 euros for 10-10-10. I think $11 for US event hosts is reasonable in connection with 11-11-11.
