  1. OK, I am ready to put my $.02 in the pot. After all this is America where we all can have a say. Plain paper sometimes laminated coin proxys are lame. I am sure most agree. A proxy that has had a little time invested make it a bit better are totally within reason to be acceped as a fair replacement of the original. As for why the proxy was made, I believe if you made a proxy to replace a missing coin good for you, if you made a proxy to keep from releasing the original shame on you. If you don't want it lost don't release it. If you released it and it came up missing do a good copy and let it free again. In all cases if it is not marked as a copy in the listing it is a poor decision to do so. I applaud all those that release and all those that collect. But in the end it is your reputation on the line when I find a good or bad proxy and decide to move it or not.

I could even make a decent one for you and re release it into the game before putting out a laminated paper copy.

  2. I am sitting here LMAO cuz I just asked the wife today if the post woman wondered why I was getting all these bubble mailers from Canada, US and Europe, since I just started recently getting alot in the mail. Wonder what she thought when she saw the one addressed from the Geocoin Secret Agent coming from the Bering Sea?

HMMM... Maybe I should go out each day and when I get the next one act excited and tell her the final piece to the Doomsday device arrived.

  3. Ok so since I just started this coin collecting hobby/turning into an obsession, I don't have a lot in the trade department. I am wondering if peoples trade list kind of double as for sale lists. I have had a few great members on here help me get started by selling me a few of there traders but without inventory to trade I am at a disadvantage when it comes to getting more. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I to am new and have no trading list to speak of yet.. Reading this post has answered alot of questions. Thanks for all the posts. Keep them coming I like lots of personal opinions.

  4. I still feel that they belong right where they are, since it is just another way of distributing Coins, just like selling or trading.

The only way to get one of my special coins is to win a Cointest(don't worry, you probabaly don't want one anyway)

So, which above person are you aiming for?

BUT, I agree, geocoins are geocins. The ones you win are special as well as the gifted ones.

That's aimed at those who think our silly games are crowding out their serious collecting discussions. My "Special Coins" are only "Birds of a Feather" so they probabaly wouldn't consider them a "New Coin" worthy of collecting.

Sure, your "special coins" ARE worthy..

A lot of times these here forums get a bit stiff and boring especially without the cointests and people who aren't too afraid to speak up.

I agree. This forum is a one stop shop that you never know what's going on. One day there are cointests then the next new coins coming out. Heck sometimes it's only hours between shifts in the topics. Makes me come back everyday. Keep it the way it is.

Updated to add the Canadian package that arrived today and a couple of pathtags I originally left out by mistake.

  7. I kinda figured that most coins are 7-10$. But also think that if someone has a coin and are willing to trade it off it does not have that "special" meaning to them like their keepers do. SO.... a coin on the trade list won't have much more value than most coins you can buy due to sentimental value. They might have the the HTF factor added though.

  8. I am not one to offend someone when making a trade but I guess if one of us don't like the terms then it just wasn't meant to be. I think most people understand but like in all things you have your traders that think their coins are worth a mint and those that would do anything to make a good fair trade. Reputation is paramount in this society from my first impression.

  9. Where can one go to find what would be fair trade value for coins.

Is something that is learned by just doing it?

    Is there a reliable site?

I know consideration is also taken for what it means to one person vs. the next and supply and demand amoung other things. Let me know what you think.

If anyone wants they can post a coin and say what fair trade would be in Geocash . $1 US = $1 GEO

    Thanks

  10. I spent a large amount of my summer in the sand.

I would go to the "beach" in the morning on my days off and in the evenings on days that I worked.

The "beach" was full of people young and old, rich and poor.

No one seemed to care, the whole town was there.

There were people there always having a barbeque and passing out free food and drinks.

    I enjoyed the "beach".

For the "beach" was the nickname for the spot that everyone showed up to help fill sandbags to raise the levee that surrounded our town.

Since the water has gone down I have managed to get a couple of caches placed and a trip to the Zoo in.

Man this was a summer to remember. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

    Thanks for the cointest.

  11. I'm in as soon as I get a coin ( I have until the 19th). This will be my first coin to buy and release but it will be special and have meaning. Anyone have a coin for sale that would be fitting for this challenge? I am up for suggestions. E-mail me.
