  1. Pieman - have you thought about having him create caches that are really complicated to find? I am new, but I saw on ebay where people were selling things for cache containers that looked like climbing vines for in the woods and bolts for in town. If he can create something unique and make it a challenge for someone else, or perhaps create puzzle caches, it isn't sad any more - it's using his brain. Just a thought!
  2. As in all things with teenagers, it depends on how it's presented. I know with my teenage daughter, if she is in control of the Garmin and can be the first one to the cache, she loves it. If I were to have her download the positions or plug them in, log the finds or do any other "menial labor" she wouldn't like it. Her interest really took off when she made her first hide. Her boyfriend is lazy. He only will go if he gets to sit back and watch. His first experience with caching, though, was from an over zealous teacher who made it into more work than fun.
  3. The casche description said that the "drive thru" had been disabled and it read like a completely abandoned building. When I arrived at the bank drive thru - it was clearly not used, so I followed the other hint I saw that someone put in the log - they were looking somewhere else and stood UP to be staring at it. So... I leaned over and stood up a couple of times. The last time... I stood up in front of the "drive thru window" and there was a FACE at my face level in the window! We both were startled! Turns out, the REST of the BANK is now an educational center... not abandoned at all... I had just approached from the rear and couldn't tell! I've just gotten started - I'm sure there will be more scary than startled moments to come.
  4. You are the one that would like to sell them and I might be interested in the purchase IF the price is right,....so what is your price ?? I got an email from another member and told him to make an offer plus postage. If he accepts, I'll take this down. If not, I'll give you the same answer. I'm not looking to get rich, just want this to go to someone who will use it.
  5. I think I'd start little ones out on caches that I hid myself for them. You know their level of skill. They don't need to know you hid them. :-)
  6. Maps do not load onto GPS units, but does work great on laptops. Great maps for printing or traveling - but I wanted to load them on GPS, so this isn't for me. My Mom gave it to me, so make offer, plus postage. It's something like 14 or 15 CDs. Haven't seen a single scratch on any of the cds and there is no unlock code to worry about.
