  1. Mybe I should start a new thread--- Does anyone know how to get topo into an android based phone?
  2. How do you like geobeagle?? With all of the features it has and the capabilites of the new HTC Hero, it must make my Colorado almost obsolete?? I love the possibility of doing this with a 5 megapixel camera and without a dataplan. Yes I am. Im using the app geobeagle.
  3. I've read all of those reports... That's old news. The rom update of Sept 19th or so has addressed that one issue. Anyone caching with it yet? I'm interested in it because I can buy it factory unlocked and run it for my needs without a data plan---- A genius phone without a data plan. ie cheap and cool http://gizmodo.com/5318860/htc-hero-review...agically-flawed
  4. I'm still shopping for a cell phone and have zeroed in on the HTC Hero as a possible new phone/toy. Is anyone here using it to cache?
  5. My old cell phone is dead and at the end of its contract. I've never owned a smart phone before and have focused in on the Nokia N95 as a possibiliy or the HTC Magic. The N95 has a great camera (for a phone) and an ok gps... yes, I know- no digital compass! The HTC Magic was my other choice but I've read that the camera is terrible even though it's 3.2 megapix. Question- Can I use the N95 for geocaching without a data plan? It looks like the Trimble Geocache Navigator requires a plan. Are there other apps out there for the N95? Maybe I need to suck it up and get the HTC Magic and live with the camera it has... N95 or HTC Magic??? Thanks, Jim
  6. Thanks, lee_rimar. Are there apps available for the iphone 3g that work like GSAK? Right now I use GPX_Spinner and Plucker to pass my queries into a Palm Plilot. It would be great to only have to move around with one device. Camera, phone, GPS, and GSAK-like-App all rolled up into one gizmo like the iphone.
  7. I've been looking around and haven't found a definitive answer yet... I wonder if an iphone 3G can be used in remote areas like where I live- no cell coverage... My old cellphone contract is up and my Garmin Summitt needs replacing. If the iGeocache app works offline then what is holding me back from getting an iphone? Thanks, Jim
  8. OK- so double click left and right control zoom. We still need the terrain and other mapping features back I think. In one convienient spot... like on top of the map frame... ;-)
  9. Hello, I just got a call from a new and enthusiastic Premium Member. He upgraded his account yesterday to a Premium Member and when he logged back in last night he discovered that the mapping feature had changed... He thought he had been down-graded. What's up he asked? I have just logged on today to find the same problem... He wasn't doing anything wrong. The site has changed. I have to say that this new change, although it may save Groundspeak and GeoCaching.com server processor time, is a major decrease in how many, if not most users, acquire information about nearby caches, plan their direction for daily caches, and quickly get a feel for the land around them. What has changed? The Geocaching.com Google Map link creates a differently formatted map: NO ZOOM- this is a biggie NO TERRAIN This really is a downgrade IMHO. Could you please put these features back??? Thanks, Jim
