I have had the experience of holding a bug a little too long. I did know they would be held about three weeks and either posted a note or emailed the owner. I felt the owner would be happy to know the bug was not lost or forgotten. I did let them know they would be in for a long trip, but not how long or where. It left just a little intrigue left to ponder. I did push them to their goals, though. Lately, I have just been picking them up in a cache and moving them a couple miles and dropping them the same day. I also keep in mind traffic to a cache so they will be picked up quickly. I would rather see a TB moved 6-10 times in a month a short distance than have them sit. That way several cachers have the option to enjoy the bug.

I have made the jump up to premium membership (Should have done it a while ago) and was wondering how long it took others to get the membership upgrade when sending a check???

Must See Caches In Sacramento And San Francisco
sturgeongeneral replied to Lefse Team's topic in West and Southwest
The Sacramento Indo Cache is great I left a TB there the other day. VERY safe! The Roseville TB inn is also secure. Quite a number in the area also. -
I agree with this absolutely! I also have held TB's a little longer than I should. We all have good intentions. Now I usually just pick up a bug, write down the #, and put it in another cache the same day. Does not always move far, but gets it moving!

You will have a great time at the event. I went from California to Texas recently and went to an event. I had a GREAT time, MET THE MOST FANTASTIC PEOPLE, learned some tricks, and traded Travelbugs! Good luck and happy caching!!!

Warrior, thank you very much.

What a wonderful idea! How about being able to run a search for wheelchair accessable caches? My mom has recently been placed in a wheelchair and has truly enjoyed the art of caching until now. This enforces my concept of "caching for all!!!!'

Can you post a link please?

Tell me where your next cache attack will be and I will have my wife there to trade.

Sorry but it actually made me chuckle. There are poor sports in every aspect of life. He sounds like a real fun guy. Really getting into the enjoyment and flavor of the sport. Hope a couple finds puts him in a better mood!

New Years Resolutions

Just got #50 today!! I want 100 more in 2004! Secondly, I will attend at least 4 events. Other than that the usual. -
I have to agree with Sparky here. Leave something you would be happy to find. Too many caches get trashy with useless junk. It doesn't matter what I find, but it makes it more enjoyable for kids. Good luck!

I bought a pair of "Vendramini" Italian backpacking boots in 1975. I have backpacked with them every year except 2 since. Great for caching and seem to be indestructable!

If you got the Map76 you will like it! I have been using mine to navigate on the water for a couple years and it pulled me out of some nasty predicaments. Works great for caching! You might not use the tides/fishing features, but the sunrise/sunset will come into use a lot. Lots of good features. Welcome to the club!!! Happy caching!

Once you enter a log for a cache find, It automatically gets entered as a find on your account.

Any Good Snowcountry Caches?
sturgeongeneral replied to Polar/Black's topic in General geocaching topics
I went caching in Tahoe in October and looked at lots of cache placement in the area. There are a lot of 5's for terrain that would be great for skiing or snowshoeing to. You have a rare and unique oportunity where you can choose the difficulty of the cache. Check out the ones in the Mount Rose area! I wonder if a cache is a five in good weather, can it be a 6 in the snow????? We city slickers have to come to you to get the really great ones. -
I agree. They should have talked to you first and: #1 Asked if you wanted to find it together #2 Asked if they could go ahead and find it first(maybe they were on a high number run) #3 Let you find it and come back later. I agree, it would have spoiled the fun!! Just bad manners.

Schoolground Cache?????
sturgeongeneral replied to sturgeongeneral's topic in General geocaching topics
I agree a grade school cache would probably get an interview with a policeman, but like I say the college campuses here are quite huge with a lot of remote areas. Tahoe was the same way. -
What are the rules applying to placing a cache on school property??? I could not see any reference. Some schools have lots of property that is not really close to classrooms and is quite remote. ie:colleges
