  1. Thanks for your input toast. I probably will return to last year's format as I to believe it worked better.
  2. I did think this whole thing through, and yes it even came across to me the plan of what you did. I didn't think this would create such a stir. Next year I think the hunt will go back to its original style of a loop around the state instead of criss crossing.
  3. Its just a little unfair. I actually talked to another team who said they thought about doing this and didn't because they thought it might be unfair. I am not disqualifying you because I said nothing in the rules against using plans like this. You did win the race just by using other tactics that will not be available next year. Sorry if I offended you.
  4. Absolutad, No where in the rules did I say that you couldn't do what you did, but no one else in the hunt did it this way. It was a great strategy that no one else thought to do.
  5. Now we all know that absolutad won the race overall by having teammates staged around the state, and I would like to congratulate them on there hunt, even if it is a cheating a little. . It is great teamwork however. Now, though, I would like to congratulate the team of Dirty Bird and Bignastybrain for being the first team to complete the race that actually travelled all over the state and visited each cache by themselves. I have never seen such a dedicated team. This team actually camped out in there car and found the last cache at 4am in the morning. A great hunt! This team found all the caches with know trouble. Congrats. I would also like to congratulate Kber for finishing in third place overall(second that individually went to each cache). I caught up with Kber near the last cache as I was going out for my morning run. Congratulations.
  6. Good Luck to all the participants! Remember that you can log in at www.geocities.com/funksb2002 or http://funksb2002.topcities.com Have Fun -Geoman

    Ammo Cans

Do ammo can's leak? I have some prizes that I recieved from garmin including shirts and hats for my 2004 NJ Cache race this weekend and was wondering if it is safe to put them in an ammo can and not get wet and ruined.
  8. Please use this thread to post your standings in the hunt but please don't give away any locations or coordinates. (EX. 3 caches found today). Feel free to give details but please NO SPOILERS! Below is a list of the registered participants and your route letters that you will be following. In each cache there will be a small envelope with a letter on it. Take out your lettered envelope only. Also take out one of the chips per cache. Please keep the envelopes and deposit them in the last cache! You will NOT be able to login to your account until the morning of the hunt. 9. Please ask any questions that you might have about the hunt here or through email before this Satuday as I will be on vacation for a week. I would like to get everything squared away before i leave. Thanks!
  10. There is a cache loop in Baldpate mountain park in central NJ. Use zip code 08560. You can park your car in one spot and make a loop to find the 6 caches in the park (5 of which are relatively near each other.) They are Sphere's of the world, Feature Cache, Yeaaaa! I got cache!, Abandoned Cache, The "J" cache. Those five can be found in an approx. 3 mile loop with some varying terrain. A sixth cache can be found if you are up for a longer hike of a total of about 6 miles to find them all. It is The Big Egg. You can park on Pleasant Valley road where the trail ends at cordinates 40 degrees 19.95N, 074 degrees 52.24W. It is a small gravel lot. You can also park on the side of the road next to the lot if there is know room. All of these caches are in good condition after a recent maintenece check. You could spend all afternoon here finding these caches making a great day of caching. A 7th cache can be found just a short .2 miles away in a different parking area. It is called "Cache By the Lake". That cache should be in ok condition however the container is supposedly cracked. If you would like to replace the container when finding this one, feel free to, as I am low on containers because of my statewide race/hunt. This is a big park and could use a few more caches in those areas that don't have any caches to make this big loop better. For a map, email me at sub4dave@comcast.net. Happy Caching

  18. Here is the link to the forums on my page. To sign yourself up for a route letter, click on the letter and hit "reply." Just another reminder to signup ASAP! geoman007
  19. Sure thing quoddy! Also, what was the page saying that you couldn't access it? Was it just the forums you couldn't access? or the whole page?
  20. Thanks KBER for letting me know. If you haven't done so already, post your name under letter "a" in my forums. Thanks!
  21. You will be picking your own route to follow and will do so by signing up on the forums located on my web page at www.geocities.com/funksb2002 YOU MUST DO THIS ASAP. The routes will be known by letters. Then follow(once on my forums)... Below in the forums you will see letters a-t. These letters represent route names. You must post your GEOCACHING SCREENNAME as a reply to one of the letters to be assigned a route. The routes were generated at random using a computer. I have 10 locations that were scrambled around differently in each route. This year's event is different in that you will not be travelling in a loop around the state but following your own individual route. The first person to post a reply to a route name will be the only one following that route. In each cache will be an envelope with your route letter on it. Remove that envelope only, take it with you as it has information for the next location within it. Please do not look in other envelopes as that would be cheating and you WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. If you have any questions, email me at sub4dave@comcast.net or funksb2002@yahoo.com
  22. You can now officially sign up for the cache hunt on GC.com at this page Please log as a note that you will be participating before July 15! Thanks! The more participants the better!
