  1. I like the "discovered" option, that way I know my trackable is still within the cache it's logged to.
  2. I just about got caught today, multiple times. I held my ear, looking around as if I lost an earring, then later "answered" my gps.... walking in circles!! What's sad, no one offered to help me find my earring , other option, wandering around waiting for "your friend" to meet you(if it's urban of course), wouldn't help much if you're in the back woods....
  3. Keep in mind I'm new to this, I went on several cache's with my "coach" which is one of my dearest friends, many with my kids, some on my own, I will say, in my experience, there are benefits to all of them. I don't know how I could say what I prefer. The ones with my Friend, I've never laughed harder in my life, with my kids, bonding time that we would have never done sitting at home, them on the computer/video games, alone it's time I can have with me. However, when I'm alone, I wish for the moments that I laugh so hard I can't breath or those very special moments with a teenaged son, thinking, where else could he be and what might he be doing.....
  4. My nickname has been crosswinds for years on other boards, ("crossy" for short), to explain location I added "okie" to better explain my location....and more typically why crosswinds was relevant ((Central Plains area))
  5. I am awaiting my coin, it is very special to me, HOWEVER, I bought it to spread awareness of my childs and friends children's disability. I don't want to "dip" the coin, instead, I'd like for people to find it, log it and read the history, as I have done with the trackable's I've discovered and found! Am I behind the times of trackables or is this still possible? If it's still possible, where's a safe place to mail it? My area seems 'taboo' to coins, message me please I'll send it even if it's a PO box, I'll activate it and send it on it's way.....
  6. Thank you for clarification, I'm trying to help a town that I grew up in add some caches, it's an AMAZING town with ALOT of Civil War links, that has no caches. I'm not questioning the forum or Goecaching, I'm just trying to help this southern USA town without mis-guiding them. Thank's to each of you, I want to give this dieing community a jump start, so to speak without crossing guidelines!!!
  7. Ok, I'm trying myself to figure all of this out, how can it not be "commercial" if you have to pay an admission to a location to get the coordinates for the cache? I'm not complaining about the admission, I personally would take my kids (for instance) to the museum for a bonus of the cache to keep their minds growing, but who makes the exceptions and why are they made and does a "museum or tourist attraction" apply?
  8. This has been a topic with me currently because I'm a "newbie". I've recently been offered some pretty cool swag items from my husbands and formal employers company. I have been questioning placing these items because of the "commercial name"...then I asked myself one question, how many items have I seen with corporation names/trademarks.....nearly ALL of them!!! Unless an item is homemade, it's an item by a FOR-PROFIT corporation. Cars, notebooks, cheapy items purchased at the local $ store, crayons, toys from a meal, books etc. all embark (for the most part) a corporation name or trademark. If for instance I leave a pencil, am I "advertising" THAT companies merchandise? If that specific company or it's employee didn't place the cache, it's always open for debate.
  9. I use a Jeep 4x4 because that's what I have, but am considering going horseback because of the price of gas and I'm already feeding her!! ((joking))
  10. Since first commenting on this post several days ago, after only a few finds I had an exceptional idea for a P&G cache, I placed the cache with a "seasoned cacher" so I wouldn't mess it up, walking me through the steps. Even though she "knew" where it was, she let someone else be the FTF, then signed later to clear her page. I'm grateful of the positive comments (to my new cache), as a "newbie" in anything in life you or when making a non-issue statement you ((should)) learn by your mistakes, as the original poster has done, we're all now beating a dead horse, Thanks for the learning experience!!
  11. I am extremely new to this entertainment, yet I've been anxious to hide my own cache. As someone who is pretty clever, I'm holding out to make the perfect container as well as hide. I personally want to find more caches to have a better idea of what's fun and or difficult to me. That doesn't mean everyone shares my opinion/drive. I am very excited to participate in this, and can't wait to see my not so good at standardized testing, color blind, autistic spectrum disabled child involved....
