  1. Yep they die, we had 3 Etrex Legends bite the dust and our 60C is about to go. It has a switch problem so I have to keep it cool to start it and pop a battery if it gets too hot to shut it off.
  2. Look at the USB connector on the GPS. Mine came loose after a couple months and PC won't communicate since the USB connector is disconnected inside the GPS.
  3. Yep the USB broke on the 60C and was repaired under warranty. Legend and it's warranty replacement broke the rubber gasket. Sewed up the latter and saved $99 for out of warranty problem. Some day they will figure these machines are used in the bush not in the computer lab.
  4. Clyde GSAK sent all geocaches to airport icon on last upload. Now it only send 4 caches out of 600+ to the GPS. How do I uninstall, reinstall and register again? My caching has stopped 100%. Registered user. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the info, currently I have a Palm IIIXE and a Legend GPSR. The Legend is limited to 500 entries. If I load 500 caches from a large city, when I leave town and I will need to reload the GPS. Since GSAK is capable of filtering. Does anyone know how to filter out caches more than a couple of miles from the interstate? That is still time consuming as you have to find and enter coords of the interstate. It would be desireable if one could load dozens of 500X pocket querys and load them on a map and circle the caches at intersections; deleting all the other caches. I guess anything is better than paper.
  6. How does one use GSAK w/ PDA and GPS while travelling on long road trips? Does one load a bunch of pocket queries PQs into one giant file? then stop every couple of hours to reload hundreds of GPX. 10 per hundred miles is plenty. This has probably been discussed, but a search didn't locate anything. Thanks in advance.
  7. I am sure this question has been asked but how would you organize PQs for a long trip? Would you drive 40 miles, stop and load another 500 waypoints? Do you keep all the PQs separate or load all into a single file?
  8. I had a Legend and the click stick worked fine, the rubber band / molding failed and Garmin replaced the GPS with a new one after 11 months of use on the first unit. The click stick on the new Legend work fine and I ordered a spare Legend today. Three thumbs up for Garmin.
  9. I bought a generic window shield suction mount to hold a Garmin Legend. Problem is, it take 2 hands to open the jaws and a third to drop the gps into the mount. I squoze it in and pulled it out and soon destroyed the rubber sides; a factory deal to get fixed. Now I attach it to the mount with rubber bands. I didn't like the Garmin unit because it appeared to be difficult to remove / reattach the gps.
