  1. Yes, you're right - I don't think that that would work. Or it would have to be a very long period, say a couple of years, thinking especially of those ALs where there are seasonal issues.
  2. Not heard the term "churning" before, and I do understand what you mean. And it would be valid if you were to put out the same sort of caches along the same route - that isn't what I was suggesting.
  3. No, I don't forget that there are others. I look forward to people coming to find my Ad Labs but now that they have been out there for a couple of years the number of players has dropped to a trickle. And I've not found all the ones in my area yet either. But it is not an issue that is going to go away - eventually only new players will be looking for them unless they are away from home. With conventional caches, you can "refresh" an area by archiving a series and placing a new series - we need to have something similar for Labs in my opinion.
  4. New Adventure Labs have almost dried up in my area, and there is a fair degree of saturation too (though I can still think of several that I would like to do if I had more credits). So, what for the future? Does Groundspeak have a plan? The biggest issue is that conventional caches come and go - they go missing and get archived, or the C.O. just gets fed up and they get archived. But an Ad Lab, once created, is likely to last for as long as the app survives. Even if all cachers in the area have completed the Ad Lab, the C.O. can't just delete it and set up a new one - they need a totally new credit to be able to do that. Possible suggestions, then, to keep the game fresh.... 1. Allow owners of Ad Labs to delete an existing placement and give them a totally new credit when they do so? 2. Automatic archiving of Ad Labs when nobody has visited any of the stages for a pre-determined period? 3. Continue to give out new credits by whatever system Groundspeak choose - but make the system transparent, and don't ignore those C.O.'s who already have four or five successful Ad Labs? Anyone else got any ideas? Or is there an "official" line on this?
  5. Am I the only person who thinks that the stages for "official" milestones needs altering? Up to 1,000 everything is fine: milestones at 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, then each 100th. Then each 1,000th up to 10,000. But then the next isn't until 20,000. I'm a fairly prolific cacher, but currently on 12,600 or so - it's going to be a long while before my next official milestone. Personally, I still make a note of each 100th, but I think that the system should record each 1,000th (as Project GC does - it also records the 500th milestones between 1,000 and 5,000). Okay, it may not matter much to a lot of people, but on the other hand this would be (I think) a minimal change that would be of benefit for some of us bean-counters!
  6. That explains it then, thanks. Annoying, though I can understand the reasoning behind it I think.
  7. I've got the same problem - unable to generate a map from a filtered list. I searched by location, distance, not found by me and not owned by me - up until that point I could generate a map. Once I added Found by a caching friend, then the Map button disappeared!
  8. Yes, I considered that, but there's been no update to my Chrome. Still, it's still working at the moment, so I'm happy.
  9. It seems to be working again now - gremlins no doubt!
  10. It was working fine a couple of hours ago, but now I keep getting this error message.
  11. Apologies if this has already been noted, but it's a new one on me. Next week I am going to Lincoln (England) where there are six Ad Labs in the city centre. I have not started any of them. I was checking the app yesterday and looked at Lincoln, and saw that there were now only five. Okay, I thought, maybe one has been deleted. I also checked on nearby Newark, where there are two Ad Labs, but only one appeared. Today I went back to the app, but this time I unchecked "Hide Completed" in my Profile Settings. And now there were six in Lincoln again, and two in Newark. I have had a play around, and I have been able to replicate this several times. The problem is that this means that I effectively cannot hide my completed labs, as I don't know what else I may be hiding.
  12. I'm really not sure, and my desktop is still Windows 7. I've done a few today, and the problem hasn't been replicated, so maybe just a one-off glitch.
  13. The whole world view when clicking on Navigate is still happening, albeit intermittently.
  14. I save draft logs while out caching, using the official app, and then use the website to complete the logs to submit them. Once you post a draft log they disappear from the list of drafts. Over the last couple of days (no more than that) this automatic deletion of draft logs after they have been posted has not been happening. So far I've only seen this on Found Logs, and I am not sure whether it is happening with all draft logs or only some of them.
  15. Excellent - I can now start planning for my trip out tomorrow! Many thanks.
  16. IceColdUK - no, I think this is different - I am being shown a map, just not the correct map.
  17. When I go to my list of pocket queries, if I select to preview any of them I am shown an unfiltered map based on my home coordinates. The same happens if I run the pocket query and choose "map this location".
  18. It's typical - I sometimes go weeks without using this bit of the system, and it goes down when I have 21 caches to submit!
  19. Trying to submit a new series of caches.... After the first couple, it wouldn't let me go back to the Cache Owner Dashboard. After a few tries I managed to get back, but then got the following message: { "message": "Loading chunk 5 failed.\n(error: https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner/public/5.ee5944e0ae881cccda5b.js)", "name": "ChunkLoadError", "type": "error", "request": "https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner/public/5.ee5944e0ae881cccda5b.js" } { "componentStack": "\n in Unknown\n in Route\n in Suspense\n in CODRoutes\n in r\n in Switch\n in Router\n in ConnectedRouter\n in ConnectedRouterWithContext\n in ConnectFunction\n in div\n in App\n in ConnectFunction\n in TranslationProvider\n in Provider\n in App" }
  20. I use lists quite a lot. In the past, if I go to my lists and click on the map button of one of the lists it showed me the map containing the caches on the list. Now (? most of the time, or always - not sure) doing this takes me to a map centred on my home address, but with the list caches named in the lefthand column. But if I then move the map to where the list geocaches are, they are all sitting there correctly. This is fine if it is a relatively local list - not so good if I am preparing a list for a foreign holiday! (Chance would be a fine thing with Covid!) An alternative way of getting to the "correct" map when this happens is to click on "Search" at the top of the lefthand column, then click on My Lists at the top of the lefthand column, and then select the list.
  21. I was wondering that myself - but a bit of Googling found the answer. It is a cache very high up that you don't climb for, instead using something like a fishing rod to retrieve it.
  22. First impressions are very positive - I can see that I would use this a lot. There could do with being a way to access it from the normal Dashboard, but pleased I can get to it from the Play drop-down menu.
  23. You may well be right, and I know that some Adventure Labs are just a random selection of points to go to, with no pattern, story or purpose. But the same can be said about a lot of Traditional caches too.
  24. Although I am in two minds about Adventure Labs, I got an invitation during the virus lock-down, and planned something out, which I was able to publish last week, along with a Bonus cache for those who wanted it. The feedback has all been very positive, with 10 finds and 8 Favourite Points in the first seven days. So, I was wondering - when is it likely that any user will be able to set Adventure Labs? Or is it possible that some users will be offered a second set of lab caches? For now that I know that it works (despite the odd glitch) I have lots of other ideas
