  1. Garmin Colorado blows it away in mine High sensitivity is definitely nice to have since you can throw the GPS in your pocket and it'll still work for example. WAAS I can take it or leave it since I generally don't notice much difference with it on or off anyway.
  2. I don't miss it most of the time, even then it's usually not calibrated The main thing (for me) that is nice about the e-compass is that you don't have to be moving for it to work. In general though, the GPS usually goes in my pocket once I get within 10 feet or so anyway.
  3. EDIT: Thanks DanOCan Anyone else? Looking to see if there's a better one out there (I'm sure there is, this is only one of my first attempts).
  4. WAL MART!!! Swiss Gear is where it's at... $14.99 for two!
  5. I have a 4 cache series of dead end roads, the challenge usually lies in finding the right backroads to take more than finding the cache itself. Don't let it get you down, I don't have a log like that yet and can see myself getting worked up over it... is so I'll come back and read my advice to you.
  6. So this thread really didn't apply to you then did it
  7. Never really gave GSAK much thought until recently when I started playing with my Geko and Venture HC. Still working out a good one for the Geko but the Venture HC I think I nailed it. Waypoint Name: %smart=14 Waypoint Description: %con1%last4 %hint %dif1%ter1%bug This gives me a 14 digit real name, and the size, last 4 found status, hint and if room, difficulty, terrain and tb status.
  8. For the price of the 400t, every box should have a coin
  9. I'll 3rd or 4th or 5th (whatever we're up to now) on the Venture HC, it's very nice and the above price is a great deal.
  10. Wow, that's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing Tschakko!
  11. Thanks for your input and not debating religious beliefs!

    Geo Coins

Simple, not everyone caches every day or even every week. Could also be lost, taken or stolen. After 2 months tops I would fire off an email checking the status in a friendly way. Bad example: Hey, you've had my coin for a month now - move it along! Better example: Hey there, I noticed you have one of my coins - or at least the last one to log it. Just wondering what you thought of it and if you had any ideas where you might be placing it next? Thanks! Another thought... if if has a specific mission, the person might be traveling closer to it's goal and waiting for that moment to move it along.
  13. Please Read It's been brought to my attention that the thread title may be offensive to Christians and make them feel excluded. The title wasn't meant to exclude Christians but more to expand from just 'Atheists'. Fact is, I'm not real sure what I consider myself and I'm not ready to put any particular name on it (nor do I feel a need to at this time). I hope that clears up any confusion. Back to the topic at hand.
  14. It was refreshing to read some enthusiasm for a change, I to have not really put much thought into visiting that site but after your post I just might have to as I know from geocaching there are a lot of historic places in the area. Great thread, thanks for sharing.
  15. Sounds like the perfect place for a little peace and quiet Disclaimer: I am happily married to a wonderful woman and a father of 2 wonderful girls and one boy... the above was meant light heartedly, and not to be taken with more than an ounce of seriousness. Please refer all negative responses to 1-800.. hmm, I'll have to look up the number and get back to you.
  16. I have some experience with various GPS devices from the Magellan Map 410, Garmin eTrex Camo, Garmin Geko 201, Garmin Venture HC, Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx and the Garmin Colorado 400t - not to mention 3 nüvi devices (350, 360 and 660). The Venture HC is very impressive and would be an excellent unit for Geocaching. The only real drawback is that you are limited to 24 megabytes of internal disk space for maps, but for Geocaching that is far from a big deal. My favorite is the Colorado 400t mainly because of the paperless caching, but it's also got a nice price tag along with it. The Geko is another great little device but does not have the high sensitivity receiver, which has really only been an issue when it's in my pocket.
  17. Works for me, thanks. Alright, you heard the man... any more ideas on the coin?
  18. Super, now we're stuck to just the coin topic which was just one of many things we were going to cover... oh well.
  19. I think if you purchase 2008 after the release of 2009 it makes sense. 2008 will be sold for a much lower price now that 2009 is out so everyone would just buy 2008 and upgrade for free if that were allowed. The ones (like myself) that got the upgrade for free bought it within a set time frame before the release of 2009. A buddy of mine ordered the full version from their website, for some reason 2008 shipped - they are sending him an upgrade DVD at no charge since he purchased from Garmin.
  20. I have 2 new Geko 201's I'll sell you for $70 a piece, shipped! They work awesome, easy to use and I'll even throw in a USB cable if you buy both.
  21. I like it Wonder how small the type would be Gonna try it quick and see if it fits on a 1.5" design... I can see it now... "TACLYWLTBT"
  22. Never said that... If you want to discuss religious beliefs this probably isn't the thread for you, otherwise feel free to share your thoughts. I just do not want this thread to turn into another religion bashing debate like the other one did.
  23. My good old says started about 2 months ago
  24. Definitely appropriate. Just don't do what I did and get all caught up in the drama in the forums Geocaching is fun, leave it that way
