There are those of us who enjoy finding "rotting, old, dirty, chewed on, disgusting toys." However, those people have not yet been identified. But seriously, use the search button next time, this topic has been discussed ad nauseum...

I'm not sure EasyGPS will do you any good for a PDA, but I think Cachemate should work out fine for you..

Bomb Squads & Cahes. Time To Do Something.
TeamK-9 replied to Renegade Knight's topic in General geocaching topics
I say we try and get together a database of bomb squads across the country. But basically, that's not the necessity, we'd get together a packet explaining to them what geocaches are, and where you can find them, and maybe where there are some in the local area. We could also invite someone from their team to go geocaching with a local cacher or even start caching for theirselves so they can see what caches are and maybe be able to better identify one when they see it in the wild, or be able to track it from the website online. Basically, I don't know how other than the above suggestion, but I think we need some kind of awareness campaign aimed towards police departments and bomb squads... -
Yah, my brother used to work at an office supply store that was real big on rebates. He explained to me the whole idea of how companies actually afford to have rebates is they expect more than half the people to never turn in for their rebate. And of the half that do turn in rebates, they expect the person to not qualify because they screwed up, or they won't get it because the company wrote in some fine print keeping EVERYONE from getting it...

An answer to your number three about having GPSr's in pictures. It's needed for verification. But you said you have some cool pictures from locationlesses that are useless because they have a GPSr in them. So if you don't want a GPS in the picture, take one with the GPS for logging the cache and take another without the GPS for your own uses. That's not so hard is it? Take the pictures you need and have another one if you want..

Two weeks later, after returning the day after posting the original geocide.... Geocaching is a lame sport for dorks, and I wish I would have never wasted the time and money I put into it. And shoes still are pretty dumb... Wait, crap, why does my post still say ringbone?

That sucks about not getting sun, I'm the kind of guy who can get endless ammount of sun, as long as it's not all on the same day. I also don't have a reaction to poison ivy...

After spending a little over 3 months here as an active cacher, I have come to a conclusion. Groundspeak is one big scammy company. Shoes are stupid too.... Umm, I don't really know why I'm leaving other then that too, but let me just tell you THIS... ..Wait a second, why does my post say ringbone?

The reverse of this topic was talked about ad nauseum a few months ago, but I thought I'd sort of revive it but change it to summer/spring. What, if anything do you do to your caches to prep them for summer? Also, what if anything do you change about your general style of caching? I started out caching always wearing pants, but I've also been through probably about a mile now of heavy under brush that will just get heavier this summer. It gets hot here in the summer, but do you guys leave pants on, or do you just wear shorts and take the pain? If you do wear pants, do you have special lighter pants that you don't sweat your butt off in that can be acquired for relatively cheap?

Is there anyway that I could hook up both my PDA and my GPS to the serial port other than to buy an adapter to hook one up to a USB port? I currently have two computers and the PDA is hooked up to the better one and the GPS is hooked up to the crappier one but I was hoping to hook them both up to the good computer, but I only have one serial port...

Something Funny Happened Coming Home From Vegas
TeamK-9 replied to crzycrzy's topic in General geocaching topics
You can't forget just recently some guys found a body in Florida? I think, it was all over the forums last month... -
I didn't get pictures, but on a recent caching adventure I was on a rail trail, that wasn't actually a converted railroad track, it was actually the service road that ran in between an active railroad and the river, which still has some of those big round things you tie barges on to. Well any way, whenever there's a big round thing in the river the access to it is blocked off by about twenty feet of gate with a "No Trespassing" sign on it. The same goes for any access to the train tracks, and there are lots of instances of these along the trail. The only thing is that the twenty foot fence is just that, a twenty foot fence, you can walk right around it (and I mean right around it, there's a good foot or two of clearance between the end of fence and beginning of brush. Or you could just do an easy bushwack no more than ten feet....

I guess that is the best alternative, other than to just use paper for the day but print the cache pages on rite in the rain paper or something...

Well, first I tried that but it didn't work so I used the normal exe file, but the download window thing didn't pop up, but I ended up downloading an older viewer. Also, stunod, thanks for the help...
