  1. this ain't a social website not facebook to have a "wall of activities"
  2. i am an accountant, i have no problem navigating the site, in fact i find it very intuitive what kind of query? since i signed up 4 years ago i don't remember any fundamental changes, still all the same you acknowledge you have been out 10 times in last 10 years...what do you mean by "What happened to Geocaching.com?"...what are you comparing it with?
  3. this is what you need to use: Waypoint Averaging
  4. you can't AFAIK, only option is to put a watch on the threads you started
  5. the people that got your TB's haven't cached since september and october respectively they haven't even logged in to their accounts in at least the past 2 months Actually that is incorrect.... The one I am specifically concerned about was a geocoin in my moms honor, the current person holding it last cached 12/16/2011 but have had my coin since August! well i took TB's literally, in that case you got quite a few stuck give it time and don't loose hope, some of mine showed up after a year
  6. your manual should have that http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/eTrex_10-20-30_OM_EN.pdf see page 30
  7. I do hope this was posted in jest. the lack of any smilies indicates otherwise, sadly

  9. You do know what the word "experience" means, don't you? Just in case you don't, I'll offer a crash course. When one is geocaching, part of the "experience" includes a container. Not all containers are created equal. This is especially true when discussing micros, as, (at least locally), when folks opt to create a micro hide, the odds are very high that they will use a sucky container. While there are exceptions to the rule, they are just that; exceptions. Micro usually equals crappy, around here. It's more about the quality of the container, as opposed to the volume, but since the terms "Micro" and "Crappy" are almost interchangeable, it does come into play. If I discover a crappy film can with a moldy log at the end of a hike, my "experience" has just been sullied somewhat. I would even go so far as to say I would enjoy the "experience" a lot less than if I had found a quality container. As a cache owner, I've discovered that, for the most part, the better the "experience", the longer the logs will be. Crappy caches tend toward copy/paste acronym logs. So, yeah. Container size can impact the incoming logs. that is YOUR definition of "experience", it should be apparent from my previous post that its not mine i don't care for swag and if the container is crappy and soggy it will definitely not influence my "experience" it will be mentioned in my log after i praise the location and the "experience" of getting there it all depends what "geocaching" is for you, or each individual we use it as means of discovering new places or revisiting some nice ones, having and enjoyable hike, the cache is an incentive to get there and does not change the "experience"
  10. how will this me anymore commercial than the sought-after Ape caches? I thought that movie was awful. Those were not sought after caches for all of us. I was and contine to be indifferent to their existence or special icon. The now archived ape cave never once fell on my radar as something I had to do. The remaining one isn't one that I have any desire to do either. i'm not surprised, Brasil is not exactly around the corner, at least not from where i am sure they are "sought after", same as all the old caches... very hard for me to imagine someone being so indifferent to "legends", but i guess the interest is sparked once you have been around for a while and got more finds under your belt and after i posted i found this of course it has everything to do with distance...
  11. the lobster must be out of season, 105 posts and never came back to post again, or maybe its because my lack of capitalization?
  12. That's a recognizable posting method. Not sure if that's a clue, but it makes me think "hmmmmm...." I have a vague idea... I'm wondering if I'm having the same vague idea. you have proof? No. (Wouldn't it be interesting if our IP addresses were publicly displayed on each post?) You? Or is it the same "hey, that looks familiar" feeling? edited for another senior moment. if we're right i think its made of blue agave, quite a high proof speaking of IP addresses the admins can certainly see them and they know who it is not long ago part of the reason for my suspension was that: so contrary to the forum guidelines looks like this case is one of the acceptable "shades" that allows one to hide their true identity anyways, back on topic my take on this is that change is inevitable, like anything that grows over time it is more apparent for those that have been in the game for a very long time but at the end of the day the essence of the game it is what you make of it if you are unfortunate to live in a small town with few caches the changes will be even more striking regardless of demographics eventually everyone will be at the point where either they have to travel long distances to grab one or ignore the "poor quality" new hides and find another hobby i am not saying that there are not a lot of low quality hides popping up all over the place but i don't see a way of controlling that the complaining from the "veterans" is not any different than the complaining from our parents in regards to the changes that come with each generation from music to how we dress to how we talk i've been in it for 4 years now, and currently at 520 consecutive days and even though i noticed the surge of "poor" hides, bad coordinates, bad containers, missing containers when the cache is published etc, but i am nowhere close to feeling that i need to complain, to me its still an enjoyable hobby and mostly because of the reason behind why we chose to go out there but if i ever feel i need to complain it will be this very account that will do so, i will not hide behind a sock puppet account i

  16. what does the container size have to do with the type of log you going to write? so you're telling me there's a micro up a mountain and you have a great time hiking there, beautiful views etc etc...and you will ignore all that just because it was a micro and not a big ammo can full of junk, where you spend 10 minutes digging out the logbook? what happened to geocaching being about the experience?
  17. true but its too bad they feel offended, i really enjoy being elitist

  19. Thank you. I'm pretty sure I'll be around Edmonton September 9th to 13th. As soon as this can be fixed I will post on the geocaching forum there. Some of your tips are close to the trans canada highway and it seems to be very likely that I will take this from Vancouver to Banff / Jasper. But we are still looking for hotels: all the nice ones are very expensive. And I'm afraid a web-only-search from Germany will not show me the affordable & nice places to stay. So please feel free to help me there, too :-) If possible I would like to stay at small familiarly places that will not cost me 200$ per night. Oh, the same for Vancouver please: I'm looking for a nice but not expensive place to stay some days... yes, they definitely are expensive out there, and more so around the time you're going is considered "high season" those are some of the places we stayed in along our route Bighorn Motel they have full kitchen and coin laundry, if you feel inclined to do some West Edmonton Motor Inn Pines Motel, Hinton
