  1. I see you're in Ontario. How does that give you the right to post a "Webcam Photo Taken" log on a broken webcam cache? (Yeah, I know. You were there last month) I see you mentioned you would eventually be posting a picture with your log... Is it safe to assume the picture you claim you will someday post came from the webcam linked on the cache page? No? Wouldn't that qualify as a bogus log? perhaps if you look at my activity for that week you will see i was in Vegas can you see the label on the picture in the log above mine? i guess your detective capabilities are a bit limited, it takes making wider observations no, its not a bogus log, I was physically at the location, the Co allowed the log why is anyone else's business?
  2. Normally I am not a fan of armchair NA or NM logs, but in this case anyone can tell the webcam is down and the CO hasn't logged onto the site so visiting the location doesn't really seem to be needed. I'm with you on this one, but regardless: he/she hasn't, who's profile you're looking at? Last Visit: Saturday, 21 January 2012
  3. i see you're in Oklahoma, how does that give you the right to post a NA? Because it needs to be brought to the reviewers attention no matter where it is. have you personally visited the cache?
  4. i see you're in Oklahoma, how does that give you the right to post a NA? when you get there personally and see its not working please do log a NA, otherwise go mind your own backyard
  5. really, where? there is no such thing mentioned in the guidelines but this really made me ROFL Check section 8 of the forum guidelines: LINKY pffft yet again another loosely worded guideline, same as for the caches i wish i had a dollar for every time i asked that we're not being treated as a child
  6. I try to behave like an adult and try to treat others respectfully, but I also like to be treated like an adult and not like an immature child. Forum rules, intervention and even mistakes of moderators are one thing, being referenced as a kid that is allowed to play on a playground is another. I can understand why many people refer to geocaching as a game they play, but I need to admit that I cannot understand what's behind regarding discussing in a forum as playing. Cezanne You have clearly taken offence to what Sandy said whereas I took it as a metaphor and didn't find it offensive in the least. Different strokes and all that. not at all, don't forget that this is a worldwide game and the forum is accessible to many for whom english is not their first language, they don't know all the metaphors of the english language as such, moderators and staff, more than anyone else, should be sensitive and use language that will not be open for interpretation by those that are not native to english i know cezanne has a very good command of english and still took offense, now think of the others
  7. my profile keeps track of my finds, nothing else needed
  8. why do you want a case? its shock proof...as an example i dropped mine face down on a concrete floor, yes it got a little dent on the frame but that's all, which now it starting to wear off i will strongly reccomend you put a screen protector on it
  9. really, where? there is no such thing mentioned in the guidelines but this really made me ROFL doh http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=78445&view=findpost&p=1052907 the way they enforce the "keep on topic" is the most ridiculous i have ever seen....helloooo discussions always have and will have ramifications, while going way off is not good i feel the moderators here take it to an extreme
  10. if they contacted you through your profile there is a link at the bottom of the message but you can use it in any situation Forward abuse complaints to: contact@geocaching.com
  11. but during the time of the previous forum software when i inquired i was told every time that the "report" feature works fine i guess i was right and it wasn't working fine after all There goes 90% of the fun of participating in here. seriously?...and how exactly are they going to detect sarcasm? i can't laugh at each other?...what if i laugh at a friend of mine?
  12. And neither may be their interpretation. But of course it's them who make the rules, so back to square one. They made the rules, they decide how to interpret them. The rules just didn't appear out of nowhere. and that is exactly what is fundamentally wrong...i agree to follow the rules when they are black on white and clearly spelled out, when they are being interpreted in a million ways there are NO RULES anymore just random acts enforced by those with the power to do so so...from that follows that if they can make the rules as they go how do you expect a community to follow them? how am i supposed to know that i am doing something wrong until someone decides so if i do it on purpose i should suffer the consequences but when i have no guidelines to tell me that in advance why should i have to find out the hard way?
  13. i do get the blue part, however my post was not edited but rather deleted right off the bat without me ever requesting it and that just because it was off topic...i can point you to someone's post with insulting comments addressed at another user that has never been removed just doesn't seem right and makes it hard to ever get a grasp on what/how we're supposed to follow the guidelines i do look forward to seeing the new guidelines, perhaps they will be aimed more towards treating us like adults
  14. why?...the forum guidelines say just the opposite...or "edit" equates "removal"? i agree that is your "playground" but citing unrelated forum guidelines in a warning or a suspension makes no sense i have personally seen a few of the guidelines, and most often the one about "sock puppets" being interpreted in a million different ways depending on who's at the receiving end ...either sock puppets are allowed or not...there is no such thing as "different shades of sock puppet" as i was recently told
  15. NO you are not crazy, i will do my best to refrain from getting started on the subject...it will not be pretty its not a bug, i had one removed just the other day i will not post here the details but if you wish i can send you the reply i got from the staff member that deleted it meanwhile a while back when i asked for one to be removed i was pointed to the guidelines that state that posts are never removed and we should think before posting
  16. why bother with a helmet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6fejWutXCk
  17. not really, that's against the TOU Not sure if that is true. Any Mods around here? your question has been answered by others i just wanted to point out where it is located every time you run a PQ you agree to the terms of the license agreement
  18. I think that's true with every question, in every poll. Pollsters generally do not ply their trade in an attempt to gather data, Rather, they manipulate verbiage carefully, so the end results can be used to "prove" whatever point it is they wanted to prove. They can point to the poll, saying, "See? I told ya!" It's just the nature of the beast. i would call that deceit, which is why polls are highly unreliable
  19. 1.5 months to be exact, at the time of your post, i wouldn't call that "quite some time" though would have been nice if we were told such practice was implemented, so i didn't have to bother stripping it myself
  20. most likely you will go to the Statue of Liberty, grab a Benchmark while you're there, only the ones in US can be logged Statue of Liberty
  21. a souvenir plus finally filling up my "Finds for Each Day of the Year" grid, what more can one ask for?
  22. Didn't you know? The profile home page is some people's actual home. They don't like other people renovating their home. It's a personal offense to their taste in decor. And they can get confused navigating the new floor plan. but..but...they don't own it, they're just renting it from GC
  23. I believe this is a big issue in web design. The important stuff should go "above the fold" because people don't like scrolling down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Above_the_fold i am all for simple, clutter free pages, but in this case your recent finds are still in a pretty good view there is no need to scroll that much to see the last, at least, 5 logged caches, and that is from where i am standing with a decent size monitor but the issue is being taken care of
  24. thank you for saving a lot of people from getting mouse induced scrollitis good call, as i said before personally i wouldn't mind seeing just one
