  1. Don't like em. dom't do em. No one is forcing you,. Simple as that.
  2. I am mapping several PQs this morning and when they open, the map is centered on age center of the US instead if my home coords or the center of the PQ (I am I'm western NY State). Seems to be a problem with mapping program.
  3. With the Covid. I think there are none scheduled now.
  4. I know of a cacher that has caches all over the US and several different countries. He's a lawyer and travels extensively. He has people maintain his caches in each location. The one in my area is near the airport. I volunteered to help, but he has someone already looking after that one.
  5. I have a 10 year iMac. Had to replace the hard drive, but works fine. As long as the Garmin has a USB end in the cable, it will work fine. If you partition part of your hard drive and format that part for windows, you can run GSAK on it. Macs can run windows, Linux ir Mac OS, just have to have parts portioned and formatted for them.
  6. Fizzy might remember one from around 2005 or so in the San Jose, CA area. The puzzle was hard and when that was solved it led to another puzzle. It looked like he just kept adding more puzzles. So the people in the area stated a battleship strategy to locate it (before Groundspeak outlawed that. It was narrowed down to the middle on one of the fairways on a local private golf course. They showed the data to TPTB and it was archived and the cacher banned.
  7. Once found a paper McD's bag with a cup in it. The log was in the cup.
  8. Fizzy, still pretty new. I got awarded one and the problems I had were my fault, mostly my fat fingers. They can fix up the interface problems. There was n update just a day or two ago. The people who did mine so far had no problems. One in my area had a real cache (bonus) after doing all 5 adventures and had gotten a bunch of favorite points.
  9. GC's advice: Don't call us, we'll call you.
  10. I just posted one Tuesday. The locations are all historic locations but are not safely walkable. They would require a walk of at least 10 miles and require crossing two six lane streets as the town is now the second largest in the county outside the county seat. The locations all have convenient parking and take about a half hour even in rush hour.
  11. Was out Saturday doing two more by the same cacher on the same trail. Got the info set up for an Adventure Cache in the meantime.
  12. Just joking around that in Canada (about 5 miles away) both units are about 60% of the corresponding units in the US. I cacned with mty55 ;last month.
  13. This Adventure Cache is in NY state and miles is correct. Km like Canadian money is worth approximately 60 % of American $ and miles.
  14. NY state governor says NY, CT and NJ are making all bars and restaurants be tale out or deliver only after 8 PM today Already had two events in the next ten days cancelled. Didn't go to an event that started at 5 today, because I have an elderly mom at home.
  15. It should show up under Finder>devices , Then hold the mouse over the etrex20 and a menu option to remove it should appear/
  16. Internet Exploder was outdated at least 15 years ago.
  17. I remember reading in the forums about something similar happening near RRws Bluff. There was a scout troop picking up trash along the Sacramento River. One of the scouts brings the leader a container he found. The leader was a cacher and recognized it as cache. The contents were nice and dry. From the GC# they determined it was from 50 miles upstream !^uere had bee flooding in the area a few months earlier.
  18. I nave done the other game. There are a lot them that are unscanable because of fading or the code degrading with the elements.

    BUG: 404

Getting intermittent 404 errors when looking at caches i have found.
  20. Still same pronlem no matter what zoom level
  21. A local cacher has what looks like a sort of ATM in his yard. You hook up a 9-voly to it to power it and access the cache. He states in the description to bring one along.
  22. Of course it's much easier if you have an iPhone and an iMac. Connect your iPhone to the confuter. Of course th phone shouldn't be locked. Open up the Photos program. Photos will ask if you want to download any unsaved photos to your computer. Then put them in your logs.
  23. I have a AT&T monthly prepaid iPhone and live near Buffalo, NY. Canada is just across the end of Lake Erie and the Niagara River. When I moved back from California., I would get notices that I reached ny monthly limits (although I had none). Called them up and they said my phone was "ghost pinging". I had not been within 5 miles of the border, but my phone was pinging the towers on the Canadian side of the border from my house. They fixed it up and had no problems since. Asked them recently if I can get a temporary plan for going to cache in Canada. They said my plan already covers Canada And Mexico.
  24. If you are driving there, don't lie. They know when come in the country and leave. They enter your license # at the customs border booth. A friend was driving from Michigan to NY through Ontario (Detroit to Buffalo). At the border the agent stared" you are going pretty fast" to him. They knew exactly what time he crossed into Canada and and what tim he was leaving. It used to be a lot more relaxed. Back in the 70s and 80, there were better "gentlemen's clubs" in Ontario than western NY. On a Friday night a bunch of us guys would pile in a car and go to Canada. Wfen they asked at the border why we were there, we answered " To see the Canadian ballet". They would say " Have fun, see you later".
