  1. In my opinion, hide it first and report it later ! There's been a discussion on the general forum to this end - Look HERE
  2. But be careful if you're spotted near a phone-box, red or otherwise because you might be accused of 'phoning someone to ask them where a post box is !! (http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=68436)
  3. They're nice . . . . How do you make them ?
  4. We leave a simple calling card :
  5. Here's a picture of Brynney - our constant companion - looking very pleased with herself on account of all the mud !!
  6. There are 49 centered around the Forest of Dean, none of mine yet though ! We were going to place this weekend but it was far to wet to even think about it !!
  7. I like the idea of cache cards. They're not that difficult - I did it !! :- Easy really, layout designed in Adobe Photoshop, transfered to MSWord, colour printed and laminated ! What made me feel good is that they've been featured on Fisur's site as a good Geo-Creation ! (I only made them as a stop-gap until I got 'round to making 'real' sig-items !)
  8. I'm looking into making some special 'signature' items, probably stained or painted glass (careful protected with bubble wrap). In my opinion, I wouldn't be worried if there was nothing in the cache "worth" swapping them for. I hope that the person who removes the 'sig' item will be pleased and maybe even inspired to do something similar. After all (IMHO) finding the cache, the scenery, the dogWalk etc. are the most important aspect of GeoCaching. I do like to feel I'm putting something back into the GC Community, after all, why else would people place caches ?? Quick note to Sn gans - Are you going to plant a 'Quantum Leap' type cache any where else, maybe in the UK ?? (Here's hoping !!)
  9. I wasn't saying that you shouldn't do it just because some people don't have 'phones. There are always going to be some that not everyone can do ! I guess, for this one I'll have to enlist a fellow GeoCacher with the correct technology !!
  10. For Pedometers, visit here - Field & Trek or Exercise & Fitness or (the best one) eDirectory I haven't reset my Geko 201 since I started Caching and it says I've walked around 38 Miles. This isn't too accurate as I don't tend to switch the thing on until I get within half a mile of the cache ! Come the better weather, longer walks will be the order of the day. We aim to do a few that require a 1-2 hour walk.
  11. The only way to do it in my opinion is to run a poll and pick the top ten ! Maybe it would be best to do Hardest and most enjoyable as separate polls ??
  12. B**gers ! I was taken in by this and it was LAST YEARS april fools gag !! That must be a first !!
  13. Sounds like a fine idea, but . . . . There are people out here (me included) who don't have mobile phones. Could there be a way of sirting the cache out so non-mobile-phone users would also have a fair chance of doing it ??
  14. I must admit I've never noticed the 'buddy' link before ! I don't know what it does ! I guess there are a fair number of cachers who never travel further than geocaching.com, not that I see that's a problem. I have the benefit of using a computer for work (web development) so I'm always online (via a 2Mb pipe !). I rarely switch the computer at home on ! Possibly the best way to advertise a meet is to set up a travelling cache (is this possible) that can only be logged at a social meet. Maybe it could be called the 'SW social Cache' or something similar ? That way more people would get to see it. Once people have met up once I suspect the second meetup would be a little easier to arrange. Obviously the best way to meet people is to run an event with event caches and the like. Maybe this would be a possibility but it's not something I'd even think of doing alone ! Any Ideas ??
