  1. I'm not sure what an 'advanced skyview' is but the satellite strength bars on my Legend certainly have a 'D' in them when I managed to get a signal from the geostationary birds. I think 'advanced skyview' is an option in the Geko series. By default it has a 'man flying his kites' as Doc puts it. I don't know if the other Garmin's have this 'simplified' view ?
  2. Is there a web site or something that lists or displays all the other sites with cache photographs on them ? I've been to a few caches that include disposable cameras but (to the best of my knowledge) none of the cameras have ever been developed (although some have been retrieved by the cache owners). If there isn't that facility available I'd be quite willing to build it and integrate it into the MoonHerb pages ( HERE )
  3. Haven't been too far afield yet ! All these are detailed here - The MoonHerb Diary
  4. I agree, there's not a lot of point in using the advanced option. The standard one gives you all the important information : Ready to navigate Accuracy xx feet What more do you want ?? Having said that, from a purely geeky ( ) point of view it's nice to know you're locked onto 8 satellites etc. . .
  5. Apparantly the Garmin style GPSr's put a 'D' in the satellite strength bar on the 'advanced skyview' screen. I can't confirm this personally because I've never seen an EGNOS signal
  6. Someone's been trading down again !!
  7. But if you start quoting quotes it can get really silly . . .
  8. Like this ?? Just press the 'quote' button on the post you want to quote. Below the 'Enter your Post' text box is a box marked 'Original Post to Quote', here you can edit the quote . . . . Or you can :
  9. I haven't done many caches yet (40ish), but, I've found that the decryption of the clues is becoming almost second nature ! Certain words like 'cache' hidden' 'in' 'at' e.t.c. I can just read without looking at the key ! Does anyone else seem to have this ability ??
  10. Just a word of warning. I was talking to the proprieter of the army surplus stores in Innsworth (Gloucestershire) and he inferred that the boxes sent out by most online retailers were the worst pickings from the stock on account of the buyer not being present at the sale. I don't know if this is true (having never bought an ammo box online) but it is worth bearing in mind !
  11. Thanks, that's spot on. The confusion obviously came with the limiter between the N and the W.
  12. I'm trying to enter co-ordinates into the search engine for streetmap.co.uk and I just can't get it to work ! I've marked my work : N51 49.938, W002 16.364 When I enter that it gives me a location way north of where I expect it to be ! What is the correct format to enter Lat-Long ??
  13. Someone had better make a fuss when they reach 200 !!
