  1. Thanks guys - Very helpful stuff. It sounds like (for what I want) I need another SD card and CNNA. I think my Topo is outdated also. Not sure how old it is but it says version 3.02. Is there a huge improvement in newer versions? If so could someone summarize them. Thanks.
  2. Okay, I just upgraded from a 60c to a 60csx and I have a couple of stupid newb questions if someone has the time. Note: I bought and installed a 2GB card. I will primarily run Mapsource Topo on this GPS - how much of that will fit on the 2 GB card? I tried to fit Topo west and apparently that was too much for the card. I had thought it would be plenty. 2 GB is the biggest card the csx will run? Also, I primarily use a Magellan for street nav but as long as I have the csx I might as well set it up as a backup for long road trips. What's the best way to do that? Buy a street nav program and a dedicated micro SD for that purpose? Would street nav fit on the 64mb card that came with the CSX? And heres a really embarrassing question. Topo doesn't auto route I guess? A street nav program will autoroute from the CSX without a computer to build a route? I guess I thought the nav was just uploading maps - I guess you're also uploading software that makes the GPS function differently - for instance I saw in a demo the ability to type in addresses - my csx does not have that - so it's part of the stret nav software? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Thanks everyone. I know what you mean. Most of the time the every other thing is not an issue - but once it was my daughters turn and my son saw something in the cache that he had to have. When I reminded him it was his sisters turn, he had a meltdown. Not to give the wrong impression of him - he is a good boy and so far it's the only time it's happened. Sometimes you just see something you have to have. Next time I'll know it's okay.
  4. You guys are funny. I don't know what happened? After trying to post, the forum timed out and my post was lost. It was late so I went to bed. I didn't realize it made an empty thread. Weird. Anyway, I wanted to ask if it's acceptable to take two things from a cache - of course leaving two. I geochache with my two kids and well, if any of you have kids you know why I'm asking. I've been trying to have them take turns taking one thing from a cache but then it doesn't end up even if we find an odd number. Of course we wouldn't take anything like 2 travels bugs or geocoins etc. They seem to pick the silliest stuff anyway.
  5. Most snorkels aren't really water proof and as the post above suggests are better used for keeping dust out of your intake. It's very difficult to seal the electrical system enough to allow deep water fording anyway. Not saying it can't be done - It's just very difficult. You can see a short snorkel on my H1 (which is one of the few real sealed systems). I've taken it deep enough to get water over the hood a few times. My snorkel is just long enough to prevent water intrusion from a bow wave. At that deep water starts to seep in the doors. But even the H1 needs to be outfitted from AMG (factory) to truly be a deep water forder (water into the cab or a prolonged period). Only military versions are equipped with this kit and very few of those. Heres a fun video - http://www.leechvideo.com/video/view466549.html
  6. Ha, 17" inches of ground clearance - I don't get hung up much. and if I did, do you you think a Jeep could pull my 9,000 butt out? Aside from friendly kidding around (as above), I don't get into the whole Jeep vs. Hummer vs. Toyota vs. etc. thing. It's always baffled me why people care what someone else choses to drive off-road. Let's just go wheelin! I'm in a hummer club here in norcal and we welcome all brands and regularly run with Jeeps and Toy's. infact I can't even remember the last time a run of ours was exclusively Hummer.
  7. Hello, new here. Just started geocaching. I've been wondering if others used thier OHV's for caching. Are there caches set specifically for off-roading? i.e. the only feasable way to get to the cache is with a high clearance vehicle? Not a jeep - but here's mine. and yes I offroad it!
