  1. You should go to their website to find more information and to sign-up for notification for tags hidden in your area. I don’t know if I am able to put the website in this response. But you should find it with a quick google search.
  2. Hi Foxtrot_xray, sorry to have jinxed your trip. Lol. Glad to hear you found some though. Thank you for the suggestion about using Google Earth. I’ll definitely try and give it a whirl. I have been going after the found ones too. But the terrain and sometimes the actual BM area has changed drastically since it was last found 9+ years ago that I wasn’t able to find them. Maybe your suggestion About using google earth will help. So far my problem is the grass/foliage has grown over the BM that it may require some digging/probing to get to them. I don’t really know who owns the land so I haven’t tried digging for them. I am waiting for the fall/winter season to see if that will help my find rate. I just bought some long screwdrivers that some one recommended to use to probe, I am looking to order a handheld Metal detector (MD) too. Do you know if the “capped” ones will register with a MD? I saw a BM pic where it shows they lifted a cover to reveal a metal pin/rod in the ground. I have found a couple at some local businesses that someone has taken care to preserve the BM during the construction. Really like these “easy” ones. Lol. Take care, ODS
  3. Hi kayakbird, Thank you for the insight on your BM search planning technique. Im relatively new, so I have been just looking to see what BMs are local to me that have been found recently (via website or NGS). Although recently sometimes means 9+ years ago, but there are some within the last couple of years from the NGS database sheets. Although their are not as helpful as some of PFF’s (and other geocacher’s) logs and photos from the Geocaching BM site. How is everything in Montana? Take care, ODS
  4. Sounds like you are having a fun trip. I enjoy reading about your daily adventures, so thank you for posting updates. How did you choose which BMs to look for? I’m going to try and find some down in SC in a couple of weeks. But I’m limited by where the family wants to do and see. So hopefully there are some relatively close to our condo.
  5. Have you tried to see the caches in Cachly? I don’t have Cachly so don’t know how to search by GC code, but I assume you can do it.
  6. Do you by any chance have filters set to ignore particular caches? I filter out the caches that have the wonders I have already found. I haven’t had this happen (yet) so just throwing out a suggestion.
  7. I had a similar issue. If you sign out and sign back in that helped me. I have heard if you delete and re-install the app that may help too. Let us know what worked (or didn’t work) for you. Good luck.
  8. My guess is that they are trying to show that there is an interest in the category in hopes it doesn’t get archived/deleted by TPTB.
  9. Hi Z15, Funny thing is that I saw 2 more of these tags (no writing on them though) along the Neuse River Trail later on the week after finding the one marked BM#1. Thank you for the information. Take care, ODS
  10. I don’t know Paul, but I have read his logs and found them quite helpful. I think he may have just recently started back caching again as there was a couple of new caches places by a PFF. I may try and reach out to him for some help. Thank you, ODS
  11. I did not see any sign of nearby construction. The tag location was in A semi-wooded location that was in-between already established houses. There was a lot of survey tape around the area. Could be for a flood plain elevation certificate as the area was rather wet. Some of the houses on the left side of the trail were higher up than the houses on the right side of the trail. I tried looking on NGS website, but didn’t see any nearby BMs, but admittedly my iPhone was having a hard time with the website. I’ll try again on the home computer. Thank you both for your help. Take care, ODS
  12. I’m in North Carolina. The marker was found along the greenway heading away from the tennis courts and passingthe closed playground on your left at the Anne Jones Park in Cary, NC The greenway runs between houses, but the marker was found in a small semi-wooded area. Thank you for your help ODS
  13. Hi all, I was walking a new trail today and happened to see a yellow object secured by pink tape to a tree. I went to get take a closer look and it turns out it is a survey marker? I assume it is temporary, but wanted to see if anyone could provide more detail about it as I have never seen one before. I have attached some pics. Sorry for the orientation. They look correct on my phone, but uploaded strangely. Thank you in advance for any help and/or info. Take care ODS
  14. I got an email notification that a tag was just published in my state today and thought wow the hider is cutting it close to the deadline. Then I saw they had extended the game to the end of the year. So it looks like there might be more tags to be hidden to be found.?
  15. This is a long shot, but you may want to contact the last person who held the TB to see if the TB was “dropped” in the wrong cache? If you look at when the TB was supposedly dropped in GC72JK1 on 9/3/19 there is no found it log or write note log saying they dropped the TB into the cache (although there is no requirement to do so). Also the cache was found a few times after the TB drop but no mention of it in their found it logs, so quite the mystery. Although it’s not unheard of for nice looking TBs to go missing taken by a cacher or muggle. Possible it has been taken out of the cache and lost before it could be logged from the cache or the cachers just forgot. Could also send an email to the 2 finders after the TB drop to see if they noticed it in the cache? Again a long shot due to the length of time, but you never know. Might jog someone’s memory.... I would wait a few more months (before releasing the copy tag) in case it does surface again by some miracle. That way you don’t run across an issue with 2 TBs with the same number floating around. Good luck and hope you get some good news.
  16. Neat and interesting article. Thank you for sharing it.
  17. I had the same question when I started recently participating in Waymarking. For me there were soo many categories to choose from that it was a bit overwhelming to think I about all the potential places/things that could be waymarked. In the end I decided I was going to just Waymark places/things that were interesting to me (and hopefully interesting to someone else). So if you think the park (or there is something in the park) is interesting enough to Waymark, then I say go for it. At the very least it will give you practice on how to write and submit a Waymark for review. And who knows, maybe someday someone will surprise you and post a visit on it.
  18. Hi vulture1957. Thank you for the warm welcome.
  19. Cool. Thanks for letting me know.
  20. I am curious too. I asked a finder of one of my tags to let me know how much it cost to get the coin, but never heard back. Maybe Intimadat3r will let us know now that he had found one.
  21. Congrats on snagging a tag. How long/far did you travel between the different cities to get one?
  22. That was a cool story! Too bad geocaching logs aren’t more like it.
  23. C.O.P.: This stands for 'Chief Of Party', and should be your initials. (i.e. Mine are "MFM".) This isoptional. Thank you Foxtrot_xray and Bill93 for the information. So what is the difference between the lite form and the regular form? The lite form seems to be a shortened version of the recovery form, but it doesn’t have the C.O.P option (among others). Was the lite form made for the geocacher or non-surveyor in mind?
