  1. Stuff like that is why everyone doesn't post dnf's It helps more than the cache owner, I like to skip over a cache with a large number of dnf's as well, unless another cache brings me close to that area, then i'll check it out anyway.
  2. I have a needless scare almost every time I take my 2 year old caching...he likes to touch everything. We found a dead baby snake on the trail the other day. I wasn't sure if he was dead or not, but he bent right on down and touched it
  3. depends on where you live and what type of cache is around. 95% of them that I have found around here require nothing more than a GPS
  4. When I was living in TN, I found a few caches that were tied to trees/rocks, and I plan to impliment that when I get around to hiding one.
  5. Definately, especially if you post a note as opposed to another find, some people get bent out of shape over that.
  6. I've just got a small backpack that carries my cameras and all of their goodies. The bag also has my signature jigs, packed in film canisters, as well as my pda. I have the rino clip on straps of the pack so I can set it up there, and sometimes I clip my MD player to the backpack, or a bottle of water.
  7. I don't have that, unfortunately Any more suggestions?
  8. Hi, I'm putting together some lake profile pages on our fishing club site, and I can't find out how large Lake Holt is via the internet. The rest of the lakes in the area are easy, they all have Fishing Hot Spots maps I can get the informations from, or from the department of wildlife. What i'd like to do is figure out how, using Mapsource or something, to figure out the amount of acres, or even the number of miles in the shoreline this lake has. How can I do that?
  9. I bought a cable from www.gpsy.com. Here is some very good info for your new rig, have fun
  10. Something like 6.67 posts to finds. I can sit in front of the computer all night, can't cache that long. I don't think it tells you much of anything about me other than that I like to cache, as well as participate on the forums
  11. I have no cellphone, and missed my opportunity to meet local cachers when I passed on an event due to rain, although it only rained a short while
  12. I've had as many as 4 at one time, I've since sold them all, it's easier for me to carry one around than spend the time keeping all of them synced. That's what we need, something to sync waypoints between devices
  13. I just started putting fishing jigs I make in caches. I happened to start them with my 50th find, not intentional though. I figured that it's something worth more than a dollar store toy, and who knows, maybe someone will catch a big 'un with one
  14. It's all dependent on the view of the sky that the unit has. Out in the middle of the lake, I've seen 3ft. accuracy. The biggest problem is the differences in your GPS vs. the GPS the cache owner used, and more specifically, how long the unit had to sit there and settle before the waypoint was marked.
  15. Good to hear! Please, please do the physical therapy I've had three operations, 2 on the right knee, one on the left, and still wish I followed the instructions they gave me (my right leg is slightly smaller, and i'm right handed/right sided) Good luck with this
  16. I've always wanted to clear the pages from the zip code in the basic search, I suppose my new obsession is the TB/USA Geocoin. I've got 2, one on order, and only one has moved, but it's still exciting to go drop them off and wait for that email
  17. That would be a very good idea, it's bad to get to a cache location with my kids, excited about the 'treasure hunt' to only find a tiny container with no toys, although I don't mind looking for them alone
  18. I just started leaving homemade Bass fishing jigs in film canisters. I'm working on a way to make spinner/buzz baits fit a container to prevent hands from getting stuck, but cost effective enough to place a bunch I shoot a lot of pictures, so film canisters are no problem
  19. I've come close to that a few times, luckily nobody was hurt I hope you bought the insurance on that rental

    Outage

I'm so glad I planned our outing last night I usually plan it in the morning, and take the kids after lunch.
  21. Nice pic, my son just started collecting cars, he doesn't even have enough to have a good crash game
  22. If they do, i'll get some leashes for about 3 of them, they can be my cache buddies. I'll just need to find a mosquito eating lizard then
