I suppose I'd take notice of the guy who had a GPS unit.

Garmin Rino Gps/(walkie Talkie)
dampeoples replied to Wetland Wanderers's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have a 120, and think it's an excellent setup. I don't ever see any other cachers locally (that I know of), but I use it when the family goes caching, along with the other FRS radios I have. The audio is fine on my model, and the range is better than the other radios I have, but in fairness, the rino has a larger antennea. -
If all goes well, I'll be a postal employee the 26th, so I would be happy

In my blog I talk about my travel bugs and Geocoins
-
They come and leave pretty quickly around here, I have a specific way that I go find caches, so unless I get lucky, I won't ever find one I think I would set one that I found free, as I have several travel bugs, and wouldn't want mine to become a trophy of some sort

Not a very good pic, but the onle one I have online of my truck

My very first log ever was a DNF One trip where I was able to search around constitutes a DNF for me. I've never run into a situation where the cache area was inaccesible. I think I would recommend an archive via a note in that situation.

Printable Cito Container Sheets
dampeoples replied to cachecows209's topic in General geocaching topics
Not sure of the size of the labels, but if you find a nice one from Avery Labels, Word has a selection that allows you to use a template to fill up a page with the labels, it should be prety easy to set-up (if you have Word, that is) -
How Do I Find Out Who The Top Cacher Is?
dampeoples replied to The Hokesters's topic in General geocaching topics
I think the top cachers are the ones you never hear from, but they are out there, CITO, log their DNF's, etc. -
Giveaway: Geocaching: Hike And Seek With Your Gps
dampeoples replied to Milbank's topic in General geocaching topics
I suppose he'll pick based on his favorite avatar, of which I have none, I'm too lazy to draw one up, working on my sites and all -
Do You Really Need Topo/aerial Maps?
dampeoples replied to as77's topic in GPS technology and devices
Do we really even need anything more than an area to look in? I found a cache yesterday 4 ft up a rock wall on Falls Lake in Raleigh, NC, close to Lower Barton Creek. It was fun, you should try it -
Quit Bumping Old Threads!
dampeoples replied to Team GPSaxophone's topic in General geocaching topics
There's nothing wrong with bumping an old topic, especially if the information is relevant, it also serves as kind of a history, if things have changed. Just about everything has been discussed before, whaddya we going to do, reduce the forums to about 10 topics? -
or:The life of a lame thread. Different strokes for different folks

I like hints that give you an idea where to look, not silly riddles.

I try to do them in search pages from my house. I've almost completed pages 1 and 2, working on three

Do You Check Your Recent Cache Visits?
dampeoples replied to New England n00b's topic in General geocaching topics
I like to check too, for pretty much the same mentioned reasons - I left a TB, or something nice, or I might just want to see if people pick my sig item -
That's such a great idea, hopefully that idea will catch on, and we can see more of them

A Cache Inside A Pseudo Stone/boulder?

Gps City -
Not quite caught, but I have a funny story My little boy is 2+, and we're potty training him, so today, we're setting out to find a few caches, so I put him some 'Nighttime Underwear' (pullups) on, and we go. We get to what I think is the spot, and he mentions he has to pee, and wants to go home (25 miles away!) to the bathroom...So I whip mine out and show him it's ok to pee outside, but he's not having it...We get back in the car, the cache is on the other side of the river. When we get there, he's holding himself and crossing his legs, and looks really uncomfortable, I finally get him to pee outside by demonstraton again, boy did he have to go! I think we need to be a bit more careful on how we phrase where he needs to go from now on...home isn't always available

FREE eval MapAdvisor PDA software for geocachers

ewww, email lists and ad-ridden forums, no wonder they didn't work, not to mention they are seperate from this site. An all-geocaching association board might work, with a forum for each region, but who would be in charge of setting it up, paying the hosting fees, etc.
-
Yes, use gecko browsers, and enjoy the new features, such as tabs and pop-up blocking, and you can feel safe from the myriad of hacks and security holes that are targeted at this browser
-
zero, you're a geocacher when you are looking for your first one screw the numbers, just go have fun

Where To Get Items For Your Cache
dampeoples replied to grandkid 38's topic in General geocaching topics
I don't do yard sales much, I try to find things around the house that were once cool, but I have lost interest in, or I place fishing lures in them, mostly fishing lures -
I personally think that the cache owner should put thought into the accessibility of the cache for all people. Clever hides don't necessarily mean you should have to bring a tool along, there are many, many cachers that cache primarily to spend time with their family outdoors, and don't carry a bat-belt full of gum, clothes hangers, tape, sticks, knives, throwing stars, etc, etc. They just want to enjoy a little cache action in a park along with their regular activities.
