  1. I,(Mrs.GB99), had a little caching evening for our local Scouts group last summer. The Scouts meet in the senior school, so I arrived early and set out some small boxes with sweets in (one box per Scout so they each had a turn) around the school playing field and gardens and recorded the co-ords (obviously ). I gave a 10 minute talk about the GPS unit and geocaching and then we were off! Having them within the relative safety of the school grounds made it stress free. They thoroughly enjoyed it.
  2. Well, not really a pet hete, but I'm sure it's a common problem. we enjoyed caching as a family for all the right reasons,.....until... OUR BOY!...... who, on the day he turned 14 years of age (in January 2011), overnight, discovered that, - Walking any further than 10 feet from a parked car rendered him incapacitated, - geocaching was "A complete waste of his life!" - and was "Invented for losers!" Yes, unfortunately he's contracted the "teen" disorder where, any activity occuring outside a distance of aprox. 100m from a computer console and a curtained room, will cause great distress and anxiety. It will pass................eventually.................sigh!............
  3. Hi, We are the owners of the 4X4XFOOT series in Cornwall, We are also members of two local off roading groups. We thought long and hard about the implications of combining the two 'hobbies'. This was our main concern also, so we started with three caches on connecting byways as a trial. They proved popular with both walkers and drivers and we were asked for more. We now have twelve 4X4 caches to date. Almost all the caches can be driven by a 'normal' motor vehicle and we do set these out with the family Ford Focus so we wont be getting anyone stuck! Some 4X4 drivers tell us they are a little too tame, well yes, they are. but we want everyone to have a go. 4X4XFOOT no.13 is in the pipeline, although, this will be a SERIOUS 'off road vehicle only' cache (of course this does not exclude walkers or cyclists). it is proving to be difficult for a couple of reasons. one of them being the worry of sending an inexperienced driver into difficulty. We have bounced the idea around with other cachers and they say yes, but..........................what do you think??? Cheers GB99
