  1. This rock along with the pics would make and excellent prize at an event! I would love to have it as I probably will never get to go there, unless SC_R lets me use the GC.com reviewer jet for a little personal trip. X
  2. How are we defining group? 2 or more, 3, 5, 10? Some of the best times I have had caching has been doin "power runs" with a buddy of mine. Our idea of this may be 10 or 15 caches at once so not the 100 caches in 24 hours type thing, but we have a GREAT time. Slthough we do hang back and wait for the other person to find it if we find it first. (There's that NYAH NYAH feeling of power there.) But yes if you go out with another cacher and they find it you can count the find as well cause you were there at the cache at least you went on the hunt and participated. X
  3. And we are hijacking again.....sorry. X
  4. In spite of some of those cachers you were allowed to continue caching. Is that what you meant to say? X
  5. G28- I respect your effort to preserve our annonymity (or maybe you've forgotten us already), but let's not forget the Midlands Geoholics who attend monthly Geoholics Annonymous meetings. Our casual appearance of disorganization is cleverly-crafted to keep us in obscurity and off the radar screen. HAH!
  6. Please you know you would not mind getting a picture with Monkey Girl...or me...oh wait....never mind AGAIN! I have a certain picture of you. Want me to post it? X
  7. If that's the case then why are there numerous threads in the regional forums congratulating individuals for reaching X number of finds? Why are events held to honor geocachers who reach a certain number? Why are there geocoins for certain milestones? Why are high numbers cachers treated like celebrities when they attend events, with people going out of their way to meet them and have their photo taken with them? I used to have a lot of "cache hero awe" for some of the high number cachers around NC and SC and then I met some of them and it completely put me off of caching for a little while. Then I thought why let them spoil my fun. Who is that much in awe of another cacher that they go out of their way to have there pic taken with another cacher? Briansnat, find me at GW5 and I will let you have your picture taken with me! $5 is the going rate. Oh I actually do have X number of finds. X
  8. I would like to point out the SCGO is a closed group. You have to accepted into the group and if they don't want you in, you don't get in. The SCGA, on the other hand, is an open group and to become a member all you have to do is attend a single SCGA-sponsored meeting and you're a member for life. Then there's the Upstate folks and the Piedmont folks, both of which are also open groups. Hardly anyone pays attention to what the SCGO does. If you're looking for caches to do around Charleston, here's my bookmark list. (I probably should update it as some have been archived and some new good ones have popped up.) THAT'S SOUTH CAROLINA PIEDMONT CACHERS S-C-P-C At least give us a full plug CR! X
  9. Ok! So I drowned my camera yesterday at the lake and need to replace it. Looking for a Sony that is memory stick capable. X
  10. SCPC Our Forums SCPC Our GC.com page.
  11. Yep they are and I thought that would be awesome when I bought a Palm TX for work and caching. Sadly Mickey D's is charging for access. X
  12. Does anyone else feel a certain sense of Deja Vu? I swear this is like an ice pick to the brain. X
  13. A log by a guy stating: "Found this while smoking a blunt with my homies. Guess people get high on different things. Took nothing left this." DOOBIE X
  14. Again, no disrespect. There is always someone trying to tell everyone else how to play the game. If that's bitter then so be it. X
  15. HAH! Had to check and see if humanloofa lived in SC or NC. We have the same problem here. One cacher in particular complains about the quality of caches then hides crap. This person can come up with really creative cache puzzles and it is completly wasted with what you find at the end. Of course folks will play the game as they want. X
  16. Sorry about going OT there. Back to you regularly scheduled thread. X
  17. And get hit by a ball of fireants then total your car on the way to give a lecture about caching to a group of girl scouts all in the name of caching. X
  18. Well I'm not a "real" cacher cause I have less than a thousand finds, but I hold my own. X
  19. UHHHH.....could we not refer to this as the X-number rule. Thanks, X
  20. Been there and done that with Geoholic. I think this is a bad bad BAD idea. a) We don't need more rules. 2) Cache density sucks in some places. c)How do you learn if not by experience. I kinda understand where you are coming from, but this would kill any hope of a cacher learning to hide, averaging their coordinates and a whole host of other things. I hid my first one with only 10 or 12 finds and it lasted a whole two years before it was stolen. I only had one complaint about "averaged" coords. If you want to be dropped dead on top of the cache thats fine. I like to have to hunt a littleand have a little fun. Even with a DNF I still have fun and I have had a few. I have cached with you once Night Hawk and had a good time, so no disrespect intended, BUT, suggestions like this alienate new cachers rather than helping them. How about dropping the new cacher a line or two about his hide and helping him or her out? How bout inviting said cacher to go along with you on a run and sharing your caching experience? Just suggestions. X I'm sorry! Ya know, just cause a "prolific" cacher says it doesn't mean a whole lot to these new guys. I have never met the cacher in question and I am sure he is a real nice guy and all. But, alot of the folks that I kinda looked up to in caching when I first started turned out to be number ho's and just plain crappy hiders that were only in this for the numbers. I have started to really be choosy with who I do cache with. I only have 150+ hides in the time I have been doing this and have just as much experience with what a good or bad hide is than anyone else in this hobby. A cache is only as good as the person who finds it thinks it is. Again no disrespect meant. X
  21. thats a hard one see my log! X
