  1. The bright side of it all? The fish are biting!!!! So it's time to turn my geocaching hat inside out and make it a fishing hat for awhile.
  2. Yogi57 Location: Leipsic, Ohio PostPosted: Tue Apr 19, 2005 5:01 am Post subject: Indiana Invaded Good Dog and I went caching in Indiana, and we left a new cache for them to find. SQ-Hoagland I don't how they would like Northwest Ohio SQ cache in their Indian Spirit cache area. Like the saying. "You snooze, You loose" http://nwogeo.org/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=104 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...05-41a3cf40de34 Alright, all you ISQ people! Quit your "snoozin". You gotta hurry up and fill all those holes, anything will do just fine. As long as something's there. I know, instead of taking countless photos and on-site evaluation & cache placement, you're "snoozin". Instead of countless hours of on-line research, you're "snoozin". Instead of doing all the painstaking work of organizing the information into an appealing and informative cache page that displays our history and heritage, you're "snoozin". COMMENTS? Guess I better duck, huh?
  3. We might have to road trip from Valpo to check out your caches this summer. I dare you to beat Prairie Partners one day record on the ISQ caches. bgf OOOOOOHH!! Is that a double-dog-dare, BFG? Are you suggesting some sort of competition? Nah! Not for me. I'd be happy to cheer the runners on though! I just gotta admit my limitations. I'm still recuperating from my last little run on 'em. Don't know whose tail was draggin' the ground most, mine or Abigails. And to think, she didn't help drive, got naps inbetween, and even sat a few out. She still looked bad though, so I can imagine what I looked like. bgf

  5. Repeat!!!!!!!!!!! Love the design! bgf
  6. FWIW..... Even though it adds 30-40 cents cost to the coin, I like the numbering concept. There is just something about having them individually unique, that appeals to many. Re: PawiTraction suggestion, A couple of coins have included the year with the coin number. Such as 2005-0000. Something similar to that would allow for year changes & additional orders without die fees. bgf
  7. I'd like to get in line for a swap. Please? bgf
  8. Can you picture Torry trying to stuff an ornery uncooperative Tomcat into an ammo box? Heres how! Cat's left as cache trinkets must be sedated, as getting the cat to voluntarily enter most caches is difficult. Sedate the cat using a sleeping pill as follows: 1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow. 2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process. 3) Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away. 4) Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right fore-finger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten. 5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Phone best friend to come over and help. 6) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get friend to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously. 7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later. 8) Wrap cat in large towel and get friend to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw. 9) Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans. Apply Band-Aid to friend's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap. 10) Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band. 11) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply compress to cheek to disinfect. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom. 12) Ring fire brigade to retrieve the cat from tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap. 13) Tie the little bugger's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down. 14) Get parent to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table. 15) Arrange for ASPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters. Hamsters are much easier to place in caches. _________________ Shamelessly copied from AGA forums. bgf
  9. How about a small Gx logo to the right & left of state as a space filler and to make some reference to caching? Or would that appear too cluttered? Just a thought. bgf
  10. SixDogTeam wouldn't wanna live in SC. Hope this doesn't start a trend among all our prestigious lawmakers!. http://www.scstatehouse.net/sess116_2005-2...77_20050315.htm
  11. In Europe, pigs are in very high demand for their unique ability to sniff out truffles! Valued in the thousands of dollars, a good porker can make the owner thousands in a days hunt. Abigail always goes with me on ISQ hunts. Not very good at them though. Not big nuff for dog bones. Now an ammo box, thats different. She usually goes after something a bit more aromatic. Those are the days she waits outside while I run the bathwater. At least we both have fun in our own ways. bgf
  12. And some say cemetery caches ought to be banned! I guess our caching friends to the south haven't been north far enough to have been introduced to the ISQ series. After an out-of-town trip this coming weekend, I may have to get out and do some more ISQ's myself. Been slowed down a bit as of late. haven't logged a thing. bgf
  13. I think the Indiana Spirit Quest is the best, and certainly the most significant, cache series out there. I have yet to see, or even hear of anything comparable. A big "ATTA-BOY", to SixDogTeam for starting up the series. bgf
  14. ME! ME! I forgot I hadn't chimed in for my request yet. Put me down for $50 worth, just wherever that ends up quantity wise. I do like the ideas on the blue & gold. The proposed text sounds great to me. The flip-side........There's a bunch of things along the line of the public domain Gx logo that could be used and or modified. Then the compass rose as well. Or a hybrid blend of both. Sheesh! I'm glad I'm not designing this! My pea-brain would explode. bgf http://www.bytethebullet.com/geologo/
  15. I'd have to agree with ND. The 40mm (1.5") seems to have become the standard diameter used. I had found the cost difference to be negligible. Besides, some of us would need a magnifying glass to see the smallest ones. bgf
  16. Maybe try here. http://www.midmogeo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5
  17. Team Tecmage, I had withheld any particular opinion on this coin, as I knew I was due to get some in. Wanted to see it in person. Received today. I can easily sum up my thoughts on it with one word. WOW! If you would like, PM me your mail address and I'll send one over to you. bgf
  18. I like the ideas here. Limited numbers of colors within specific boundrys would be nice. I've seen some that, maybe excessive colors led to the image appearing "cartoonish". A really nice idea for possible text. Rupert2 hit it on the nailhead as to where most all the coins will end up. The nicer the coin, the sooner it will get there. I've seen the topic of tracking discussed extensively on a lot of sites. No tracking, tracking and where to track have been a tough issue to deal with. Food for thought, three coin examples. Idaho coin. No tracking, no numbers....preorders only... sold very well. Georgia coin, (GGA), numbered, no tracking.... sold out quickly. North Carolina, (NCGA).. the first coin I've seen that the initial order had both tracked and nontracked coins to offer. The tracked coins sold out quickly, leaving nontracked in stock. A second order of tracked coins was quickly placed. So a preference for tracked coins was clearly demonstrated here. bgf
  19. Depending on the design, no color can be, and has been the way to go. My personal opinion on the coins I've seen, is that several colorless ones are much more appealing than many that have color. So, the basic coin design should probably determine this. M10B's newest coin is one of the finest examples of color usage. Photos don't do that one justice. Simply has to be seen to be fully appreciated. bgf
  20. There are literally dozens of places to have them made. A couple of other places that I see mentioned quite often, are Coins and Pins, and KV Coins. It seems a lot of cachers have used all three of these companies and have been happy with the end product. A rough idea of what is wanted in the coin would help tremendously before price shopping. The size & weight of the coin, type of metal finish, and how much, if any color. These "options" vary widely at the manufacturers. Of course the quantity is the largest variable in the end cost. If one hasn't seen very many different coins, Team FISUR's virtual coin collection is a good site to look. That would give an idea of what can and is being done with the coin designs. bgf http://www.geocities.com/team_fisur/geocoins/index.html
  21. Presently, there is no Indiana geocoin, and I'm not aware of anything in the mill. I would love to see one representing our state, as many others have done. I have been collecting them for seveal months now, and have been following the various threads on them. There is a lot of interest in them, at least nationally. Orders raging from 300-1500 have all sold out very quickly. The procurement process, has ranged from an organisational project to just one person handling the whole thing. Quite a job for one, but it's been done. Anyone interested in spearheading a project, I would be more than happy to assist in way possible. bgf
  22. I would love to get in line and have 4 coins. They look absolutely GREAT! bgf
